• Rent Before You Buy: Renting is the most cost-effective way to start, as a new set can cost $3,000 USD or more.
• Understand Swing Speed:
• Ladies’ clubs: Ideal for swing speeds under 60 mph.
• Soft regular clubs: Great for 60-70 mph swing speeds.
• Men’s regular flex: Best for swing speeds above 70 mph.
• Stiff flex clubs: Suited for swing speeds over 80 mph.
• Rental Set Essentials: Typically includes a driver, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, and a putter—everything you need to play.

Does the thought of finding
golf clubs stress you out? Well, this video is for you. I’m Coach Shayain.
Welcome back to my YouTube channel. And I have a special guest, Kurtis. PGA. Pro here at Vail Resort in the UK. And I’m going to ask him all things
that you guys have been asking me when it comes to golf clubs.
So let’s get started. Okay, Kurtis, so what I
get asked the most is, I’m a beginner golfer.
Should I buy new golf clubs? Should I be renting golf clubs? Should
I be buying secondhand golf clubs? All things golf clubs? So
we’re here at the resort, let’s play the scenario out.
I’m Shayain, brand new to golf. Played maybe a handful of times at the
driving range, possibly at the course, possibly not, maybe just driving range. And now my clients have
invited me to come out or my CEO or my mates or whatever it is. I want to obviously fit in because
golf is a hard sport. I want to fit in. Do I just go and look cool and
just buy a set of clubs out of wherever Or should I take my time? Should I phone you up?
Should I be renting? What are some things or guidance
that you can possibly provide? Because I’m sure you get tons of beginner
golfers or people new to the game that come to Vail. So give us a few hot tips. What I would recommend, obviously
golf is very expensive as we all know. So first thing I would do
if you’re a beginner golfer, I would definitely go ahead and
sort of rent clubs to start with. So I’d ring the golf clubs, see if they
have any to hire. Luckily here we do. Obviously if you’re a lady
then I’d recommend a lady set. And then if you’re men, we have some
regular sets here as well. So it’s, we’ve got options for both. So
the first thing I would do, yeah, definitely go down the rental set route, not buying a set of clubs just to look
cool because that’s very expensive. I wouldn’t recommend doing that at all. A set of golf clubs is going to cost
you around about two and a half grand. If you’re looking brand new to golf. That’s pounds. That’s pounds, yeah, two
and half thousand pounds, but probably about $3,000 USD. If anything like that. I think it’s even more
expensive than America. And $4,000 probably in Canada. Have you been trying to figure out how
to fix your slice but don’t know how and now it’s winter and
you’re in the house stuck, or you just want to know how to do
it in the comfort of your home? Well, you need to get my Golf Tips
at Home by Coach Shayain. All you need is whatever you have in
your house and you will be sorted. You’ll learn how to drop your
golf score within no time. So yeah, I’d definitely recommend
going down the sort of rental route. Check with the golf club first. If they
have rental sets, not many places do. Lucky we a resort and we have some. Rentals. Okay, so let’s talk about
that. So I have now picked up, okay, I’ve been invited last minute. I’m
already stressed out as it is panicking, hopefully binging a lot of my. But. I’m picking up the phone and
I’m calling. You might pick up. You’re. Like, Hi, I am Shayain. I’m brand new to maybe I don’t
say I’m brand new to the game, I’m new to the game and I
don’t have my own set of clubs. My tee time is tomorrow at
10:00 AM I am playing with two other people. Maybe I say their
name, maybe I don’t. And I say, what do I say? Hi, do
you have a rental set? I’m just straightforward asking you
that. Like, hi, do you have a rental set? Yep. Okay. And then you say, yes we
do. And then do I say, okay, I actually don’t know what
kind of set do I need? Or do you ask for your suggestion? So first thing I’d ask you if
you’re right or left-handed. Right or left-handed. Okay,
I am a right-handed golfer. That’s perfect. Then we’d have some. Okay. I’d probably recommend if
you are brand new to golf, obviously lady like yourself, I would recommend a lady set
without even looking at anything. If you said you swung it faster than I
could possibly recommend maybe trying to do. Okay, let’s pause there. When
you say faster, what does that. Mean? So that’s how fast you swing at the
golf ball. So that’s your swing speed. So that’s how much speed
you’re generating in your golf. Swing. Okay. Is there a certain number that
I want to be above to maybe not use ladies clubs anymore or
below? Or is there a range. Kind of, they sort of say to
make sure you’re a regular set. They normally like 70 mile an hour. 70 Miles an hour for a ladies. That’s for men’s. Men’s. So ladies is probably less
than 60 miles an hour. So if I have a swing speed of 55, then I would use a ladies. I would recommend ladies set. Yeah. Okay. If my swing speed goes over 60 and I
know that I’m a beginner golfer and for some reason I know that
my swing speed is over 60, maybe I’ve been on to a fitting once, but then that was it and didn’t know
what to do after that and they said, oh, your swing speed is 65. If I know
that information I’m calling you, then what do you tell me? Are we doing a different senior flex
or a men’s clubs or how does that work? Exactly that. So between 60
and 70 you go for sort of, they don’t say sort senior set anymore. Oh, what do they say? They. Say soft, regular. Soft, regular. I sound
corrected, I apologize. So soft, regular. So it’s a lighter shaft and
they normally come in graphite, so you can still get that speed up when
you’re swinging around about 65 mile an hour helping that ball
launch a bit higher. Right. So great. So
between 60 and 70 it’s, what is the new terminology? Soft, regular. Soft, regular. Okay. And
now I, okay, that’s great. Women, you’re sorted. If
I am a gentleman calling, do you automatically just
give them a men’s regular flex unless they give you some other. Information? Yeah, we would
normally just say, right, okay. We’ve got five sets of rental sets
here. So we all have regular sets here. So we don’t have any stiff at
the moment. We did previously, but we don’t get many to be honest. We don’t get many people coming over
here unless like yourselves from Canada. So we don’t get many people
sort of rent the clubs. So. Yeah, we let say you go. Somewhere else and they have a stiff
set because people watching could be global. So is there a certain swing speed
for that that you need to have for. Yeah, so they normally say above
80, between 80 and 90 mile an hour. Then you need to stiff. Then you need to stiff. Yeah. Okay. And if you’re brand new to golf and you
have no idea what we’re talking about, you’re just going to call the pro shop
and you’re going to say, I’m new to golf, I am a lady, I am a right-handed golfer. Can I please have a
rental set for XT time? Then I would ask, how much does it
cost? You would say the rental set is. 45 Pound here. 45 Pounds here in wheel resort, it’s going
to be very different wherever you go. I like the 45 pound. Incredible.
It’s very, very affordable. Provide you with all the
clubs here. So you get driver, a couple of fairy woods
and a couple of hybrids, and then you have iron from
five to sandwich I believe as well. And then a putter. Great. Okay. So we can
see that in the women’s. I have the 7, 8, 9, and then the hybrids to cover
for the six and the five iron. I have my driver and I have two wedges
and I obviously have the handy dandy putter in my hand. And for men’s I see up five all
the way down irons and yeah, perfect. And hybrids, they look
really nice. You guys have very nice, they look pretty brand new. Yeah, so luckily we have
a deal with tailor made, so they give us the sets every year. So
they change ’em over every year for us. So we have them from about March
the way through till around end of October of our season here in the uk. It’s not very nice between
say November, right the way. Through to March, me like Vancouver. Yep. Alright, so last and final
question. New to golf, is there such a thing called forgiving
golf clubs for our beginner golfers, or do we just have one standard set? So there is forgiving golf clubs
and non forgiving golf clubs. So luckily the ones we do
here are basically perfect
for beginners biggest sweet spot. So yeah, they’re going to help
you say if you miss strike an iron, you are not going to lose as much
distance from them as you would say if you were losing a non forgiving club. So
basically with a non forgiving club, basically they’re not, so this is a
cavity back. So you’ve got a lot of say, what’s the word, say,
metal behind the club head, which obviously helps the ball go a
bit further with a sort of blade iron. There’s not as much of
that behind it. So they’re. Basically more hollow. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. So the sweet
spot’s smaller. So if you mishit that, it’s not going to go as far as say
a mishit with one of them. Okay. Right. So we are brand
new. We want a cavity. Back. Yeah, perfect. We don’t want to go in and
be the tough guy or girl. Yeah, exactly. And want to look super cool. Yeah. We just want the ball. So you’re going to make it
hard of yourself. You could
go for a blade basically. Absolutely. And we want to keep it as simple as
possible when we’re just starting off. Right. So thank you so much. Not. A problem at all. But really quick before you guys leave
next week Kurtis is going to join me. We’re going to talk about the second
most asked question, which is, I am new, do I buy brand
new or do I buy secondhand? Where do I buy it? What am I looking
for? What is it online, is it in person? All the things. Curtis
is going to help us out. We’re also going to possibly play
a hole here at Vail as we do that. So make sure the student stay tuned
next week for that. But Curtis, how do they find you? Tell. Them I’m on TikTok. So my name’s Kurtis
Wara Golf. You can find that on TikTok. And it’s the same on Instagram
as well Kurtis Wara Golf. And it’ll be in the
description below his links, so make sure to go and check
him out. But absolutely, before you leave really quick, so if this stuff kind
of helps you in terms of information, if what we’re providing here on this
channel is helpful and you’re new to golf and you really want more
and you want more resources, you need to join My
Fundamentals Golf Program, you need to head to www.CoachShayain.com. Brianne 60-year-old
woman joined the program, had never touched a golf club in her life, and within six weeks of doing the
program, she now plays golf once a week, takes clients out and I teach
you how to do all of that. If you want more information,
head to www.CoachShayain.com. We’ll see you next week.
Thanks for watching.

  1. New to golf and wondering which clubs to start with? 🏌‍♀ Should you rent, buy used, or go all-in with a new set? 🤔
I sat down with PGA Pro Kurtis Wara to answer all your burning questions about beginner golf clubs, swing speed, and making the right choice for your game.

  2. Great video as usual Shayain. I started my golf journey recently and have been watching all your videos. I have been playing at a Golfzon club for the past 3 months trying to get ready to get on an actual next spring. I find the thing with the flex is a feel thing sometimes too. Thanks to the simulator i know my iron swing speed is 78-82mph I had a regular flex steel set of iron gifted to me that i can never gel with. I recently got the Wilson Launch Pad 2's with a "Senior" flex graphite shafts. What a difference. I like having the feel of the club flexing as i finish the back swing. It is like an indicator of when to rotate my body forward. And as for my driver I switched to a regular flex low spin low launch shaft and added 10 yards and a much better feel just yesterday and i only swing my driver 85ish mph.

  3. I play all winter with a Wilson 3 wood lol it's kinda flat and not rounded on the bottom but you would be supprised how much feel you get playing one club lol

  4. I hope this wonderful sport was more affordable, im a beginner golfer and had my clubs stolen and now wont be able to afford new or old ones anytime soon.

  5. Come learn in real life with me at the #1 Golf Resort in Europe—yep, it’s in GREECE! 🇬🇷

  6. We can't say "senior" clubs anymore? My gosh the liberal lunacy NEVER ends. I'm a SENIOR player. Not hurting my feelings. Libs need to grow up.

  7. Look, that was terrible advice to tell new players to rent clubs since a “new” set costs $2000-3000. That is like telling someone they should go to Enterprise when they’re learning to drive. If you are “learning,” you should buy an old set,or even a few single clubs to learn with. If you just want to “try it” you shouldn’t waste your money going to a course. You will be miserable. Go hit at a local range, indoor golf bar, or god forbid… TopGolf. They are all less expensive than going to a course to see if you enjoy hitting at all. You will be hassled by groups behind you on a course and potentially even the course marshal if you’re trying to learn out there. DO NOT RENT CLUBS on a course!

  8. Ok, I’ve gotten further into the video and this whole thing is ridiculous. You seem knowledgeable and understand what you’re wanting to get out of this guy, but he is a complete numbskull. You need to be willing to pushback or correct him or just use better people in your videos. You getting him to discuss swing speed was painful. The hypothetical golfer who knows their swing speed, doesn’t own their own clubs, and doesn’t know what to ask for when renting clubs does not exist.
