I can’t shake the feeling that Keegan Bradley got robbed and that the only US Rder Cup captain that would have kept Keegan off this team was Keegan. And look, I would have loved to see Keegan make the ultimate bet on himself, go all in, make himself player captain, go off in the first group Friday afternoon wearing some giant bald eagle on a red, white, and blue star spangled shirt. But now that we’re here, it feels like Keegan shouldn’t have had to make this choice. that maybe shouldn’t have been captain at all because what Keegan wanted more than anything was to make it back to a US RDER Cup team as a player since 2014. That’s what’s kept him going. He thinks about it obsessively. I think about it every second. Uh I’d like to sit here and lie to and you know lie to you guys say I’m not thinking about it but like sporadically out through the round it’ll pop into my head but it’s impossible for me not to think about. So, and in 2023, you saw how close he was to making that team. And he admitted how missing it just about broke him. But then it also fueled him. And he’s played awesome golf. He’s won two big time events since then. He qualified for the President’s Cup team, earned the winning point there. Right now, he’s number 11 in the world. And he didn’t finish in the top six on the US team to autoqualify, but when he contended at the Tour Championship last weekend, it felt like, okay, he’s earned the right to pick himself. If anybody else was captain, they would take Keegan. But Keegan’s captain. There is something really cool about this version. The the other biggest snub in 2023 besides Keegan was Cameron Young. Keegan’s picking him. That’s cool. There’s something also epic about putting the team ahead of yourself. The US wins and on Sunday night, Keegan will be relieved. He’ll be the happiest guy at the RDER Cup party and he’ll be praised for doing the right thing. They’re going to doubt me. I’ve been doubting my whole life. But there’s also a world where the US side will need a spark from a elite ball striker. Someone that’s living and dying with every shot and firing up the crowd. And that guy is sitting in a golf cart watching the action, wondering how the heck we got here.

The PGA of America needs to stop picking captains that are active players. Keegan was ranked 12th in the OWGR amongst American’s when he was named captain. They asked for this to happen, and good for Cap for realizing he had more to add to the squad as a leader than a player.

agree. they put him in a tough spot. an honor to captain but now that he was deserving of a spot on the team, he can't be on the team.

He did the right thing for the Team… not for himself .. not that he isn't good enough to be on the team, but he will lead the team better as non playing Captain
He should have picked himself. Looking at yesterday's press conference, frankly, I don't see a winning team. There is no dominance there, with the exception of Scottie. There was an air of narcissism, not teamwork, about that group of players. Also, all this over hyped aggression could backfire. Keegan is better than all 6 of his picks.
