MISHIMA CITY, Japan – The University of Hawai’i women’s golf team opens the 2025-26 season in Japan with the Pan Pacific University Super League, Wednesday, Sept. 3 through Friday, Sept. 5 at the Grand Fields Country Club.
 
In addition to UH, the tournament features U.S. teams UCLA and SMU. A total of 12 women’s teams make up the field, including six Japanese universities and teams from Europe, South Korea, and Chinese Taipei.
 
It marks the first international trip for the Rainbow Wahine in program history.
 
UH will send a five-member contingent including Sofina Firouzi, Varnika S. Achanta, Maline Kraus, Emiko Sverduk, and Wendy Song. Kraus was UH’s scorer last season with a 74.54 average and a team-best eight rounds of par or better.
 
Participants will play 54 holes over three days at the par-71, 6,164-yard course. A men’s division will be played simultaneously at the same course featuring American universities George Washington, Long Island, and Kent State. Last season, the UH men’s team participated in the inaugural Pan Pacific Super League event.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will be paired in the opening round with Fukui University of Technology (Japan), Otemae University (Japan), and the South Korean team.
