Bob McIntyre squared up against the world number one in the BMW this weekend while David Law won on the Challenge Tour and we get 3 picks for the Walker Cup!  Not a bad week for Scottish golf!

The rhythm of the swing never changes. Is it long enough? They’re beginning to applaud and quite rightly show. That is a simply magnificent shot from Colin Montgomery. [Applause] Lori is the winner. Not a million miles away, is it? Hello and welcome to another episode of Talk Scotland with me, Schwebert. And today I am joined in the room by Donald Mai. Good morning, Peter Whiteford. Good morning. And Andy. Good morning. As always, we are brought to you by Helink Link Waterproof. Golf’s newest waterproof brand based in Ireland and m manufactured to the very highest of standards. We actually we we’re just about to put out a video this week. Um we played hickory golf a couple of weeks ago, months ago, and the video goes out this week and I noticed we were all wearing our Link waterproofs that day even though it wasn’t raining. Yeah, it was cold. It was cold that day. How did we get that? That That was the middle of the summer. This has been one of the warmest summers we’ve had ever forever. And we we played hickory golf in the coldest day. just just pure and simply to promote link waterproofs. We are because they’re also windproof. They are windproof and warm. Anyway, so if you want to find out more about more about what link waterproofs uh can do for you and your golf game and staying dry, go to linkgolf.com. We’re also brought to you by Brabin Finance, Scotland’s leading finance broker for small to mediumsiz companies based in Edinburgh and Motherwell. Go to bedfinance.co.uk UK to see what they’re all about. And that’s that’s that. So, another seven days has passed in our lives. Uh, what uh did you do, Peter? God. Um, going to do an Andy here and be surprised you asked me that question. Uh, I didn’t do very much. We obviously played our game of golf, uh, which we’ll talk about a little bit, I’m sure. Um, a little bit. That’s what this pod’s based about. Hopefully we we skirt over that um a little bit. Um and apart from that, I um just teaching and and I played a wee bit of golf. Played golf last night. Um and I was I I was rubbish again. Yeah. Yeah. The game starting to feel harder again. Went through a spell where it didn’t really And yeah, it’s feeling hard again. Well, um but that’s fine. Yeah. Yeah, I need to go and hit I haven’t hit a shot in practice in in a long time. I used to always enjoy my practice, but I’ve just lost enthusiasm to practice. So, I might I might hit a couple of balls today to try and do something. Yeah. Rather than guessing on the third fairy what my next swing thoughts going to be. So, that’s my plan for the next while. Okay. Okay. Really nothing too exciting. I watched a bit of the golf um which I thought was excellent this week and uh yeah, but moving on. And Andy, anything in your life other than our game at Ken Rosa, which we’ll talk about? No, not not really much to add to it. I can’t. My finger’s sore. I can’t hit balls. I really want to hit balls, which is really annoying, but do I want to hit balls? Cuz I can’t hit balls. When is this thing fing When are we going to stop having to talk about this finger? Look at the size of it. I Well, I know, but you’ve been in this for two thumbs. Yeah. In that hand. I don’t know. I’ve ordered some new golf clubs. What is wrong with your finger? I I don’t know what it is. They x-rayed it and they said they can’t find anything. They’re not sure about gout, but I can’t imagine it’s gout with my diet. Um, too much red wine and the physio said something to do with the bones in my fing in my hand. It’s making my finger swell, but I don’t know. But it’s been like seven or eight weeks now. I I can’t I can’t play golf. I would want to play golf. You need to rest it. It doesn’t seem to playing golf is really sore, but it doesn’t seem to make it any worse. Writing is actually the worst possible thing for it. As soon as I try and hold a pen, it’s it’s agony. But you can write with your left hand. Mhm. Yeah. What weird. I know. I just play golf rightanded to give you guys a chance. They do say hyperchondriacts like they don’t heal very well, do they? No. To be fair, you can see the genally mentally you can actually keep an injury going. I think you’re doing you’re you’re a bit of a hypo. Well, quite possibly. It was I mean I wasn’t feeling good in Friday either, was it? No, I had the diarrhea as well. No, I didn’t I didn’t have diarrhea. I just I was ill. I just had like a cold. I woke up on Wednesday and I couldn’t get in my bed. I did get in my bed, but I really struggled and I just felt crap. You seem like that kind of almost every week when I say how how you how you doing Andy and I just want you to say fine one week. I don’t want a real explanation about fine. I won’t give you my honest honest opinion then or honest honest mentally weak with his golf swing. You’re mentally weak with your body. But you put us together and we’re unstoppable. But I have I have I’ve ordered new clubs. So I’ I’ve gone I’ve gone with some softer shafts in in irons. So I’m excited to see if they make a difference. I I just want to tone everything down in the golf swing. I don’t want to be hitting it. I don’t feel like I don’t want to feel like I need to hit it as hard. I want to feel like I can ease it around the golf course. But that’s your superpower. I’ll still do it with a driver. What are you going to do without the superpower? Oh, there’s Andy’s medium length and Yeah. imagine you hit it the same length as us. You’re rubbish. I know it is a bit boring watching Pete, isn’t it? Just hit it like pin high all the time. It’s a bit more exciting being in the trees and and whatnot. But no, I’m I’m quite I’m quite excited to get them. I just hope my finger buggers off and fixes. Good. What brand? What brand of clubs have you gone for? Oh, Callaway. I get paid millions to use Callaway. Yeah, it’s got to be Callaway. There are no other brands really, is there? So, yeah, get a Callaway. They’ve got some new wedges coming out. So, I’ve got wedges coming and um and the same irons but just different shafts. Yeah, we’ve got the wedge pack in actually the Opus, the new Opus wedges. Looks nice. Looks nice. Still going for the 32°ree wedges. No, they just play like 32°. [Laughter] But yeah, no, I’m I’m excited to get them. Although it’s risky changing when we’ve just had such a great result, but we’ll go on to that. Four times. Four times you mentioned it. Uh Mr. Donald, well, obviously I played golf with you guys when I’m a bit like Pete. I just don’t practice. I haven’t practiced at all and I’ve had a couple of we chances and I had half hour break on Thursday or something and I tried to hit a few balls and I hit seven balls and this is too hot for this. Any excuse not to hit balls. Uh and then I played again on Sunday and I’ve discovered one of one of my few talents. I used to be quite good at playing golf, you know, after a night out, you know, that was that that was my superpower. I would in assistance events and stuff like that would to get everybody out and get them hammered and I would do fine the next day and they would struggle. But I’ve lost that one as well. Yeah. And maybe I think I’m just not very good at golf. Yeah. And I’m and I’m getting shorter. I’m going to have to go into the stack system, Stuart. Oh, honestly, I went I went down a mile last night. you went down a knew I knew I knew things weren’t good when uh one of my t-shots at when we were playing last week and Michael said you hit that past my dad and I thought oh right okay so that’s that’s where I’m at cuz I’ve managed to get one this and and actually wasn’t past you I was about a yard short but Michael thought that was really impressive cuz I’d kept up with you I thought you hit driver quite well last week there was a bit of bit oomph behind it. But yeah, so so it’s really I don’t want to be depressing like we’re we’re told we normally are, but you know definitely the golf goals on the way at the moment and and I’m going to have to you you you said something last week. Invest in myself, St. Go have I’m going to have to try and make time to to try and improve cuz somebody said to me, “What’s happened to your golf dard?” And I said, “Well, I don’t put anything into it.” And and I keep saying I haven’t got time, so I’m just going to have to make time to There’s always time to do it. Yeah. I’ve got to do I got to stop walk my dog less and hitting some golf. Just speak to the dog and say, you know, like, “I’m sorry, but I need to spend more time with my golf.” And you’re just going to have to stay in your cage. Yeah. No, I don’t. My dog doesn’t go in a cage, do you? No. Well, in the room. Yeah. Right. Okay. All right. Okay. What about you, Stu? Yeah. I mean, I have been investing. I went to the gym. I’ve started I joined this gym, right? I don’t like I don’t like it. You sound tired of it already. Well, I don’t like it. I mean, so I go in. I’m with my daughter and we go on the running things waiting for hopefully things treadmills. She treadmills. I call them travelers. Why’ I call him a travelator? That’s from Gladiators, isn’t it? What a newbie. Anyway, I go to the travelers and I wait for like the big guys to move away from the weight area, but they just keep I just don’t like it. They There’s big mirrors and they’ll they’ll lift their weights and they look at themselves in the mirror while they’re lifting their weights. Why Why do they do that? I don’t like it. Um and I feel self-conscious and smaller than ever. Uh and I just don’t think it’s my place. So, I think the only way I’m going to do this is to invest in, you know, some home gym, a we a couple of things just to help because I think there’s a lot of things that you can do with, you know, elastic bands and stuff like that. No. Or lifting them. Yeah. I’ve been speaking to a guy and he’s telling me what to do. So, uh um I don’t think this gym thing is going to be for me. I just don’t like it. I don’t like the atmosphere. I don’t like it. Then dolphin’s not kicking in after your session yet. Oh, no. I did I did do I went and uh I I did a what do you call it? A rowing machine last night. That was quite knackering. I might as about three minutes. And then I did some leg presses cuz that looked like a machine I knew how it worked. I could do that one. Sit and push. I think my actually I think my legs are quite strong cuz I got right down the bottom weight thing. I must be doing it wrong. Did you pee? Yes. It was right down the bottom though. Anyway, anyway, but that I struggle to think that’s right. That together with Yeah, he probably had the seat really far back cuz he’s a tiny guy. The seat wouldn’t go far enough forward. So, he’s only doing the like it’s almost like a push straightening leg. Yeah. One of the big guys going after you. One of the big guys go on and be like, “Oh, boy.” Jesus. And then have to move the pin back up. I actually think my legs are stronger than you. are unusually strong because when I remember being in college in America and I remember doing this exact thing with the whole team and I was one of the strongest in the team my legs without you know for no reason but then went on to other things and I was absolutely pathetic so I think I have unusually strong legs you found your superpower I remember playing at football with them and they didn’t look unusually strong don’t they don’t they don’t look stronger they’re good for going run in circles this the stack system. Can I talk about the stat stat system? Don. Yeah, you need to get one or borrow mine or something because I prefer that option. Quite like it and I’m feeling it after a couple of days and I’m on I’ve done four sessions now and you know I like swinging it cuz it it’s heavier. Sometimes they do different ways but I’m not thinking about I’m just swinging and I think if I just keep swinging like like a golf swing without, you know, worrying about where a ball’s going to go, I think this is going to be good for me eventually. Sounds it. Sounds it. To be fair, I was saying that to Donald. We were like standing watching you guys hit shots the other day and I was watching you having a practice swing. It was like par five, the 14th or something 10th 11 and and you hit a couple of practice swings like he swings it good, didn’t he, Stuart? And Don was like, “Yeah, yeah, he’s always swung it good.” And then you stepped in and hit the ball and it was just a completely different move. Yeah, that’s And this wasn’t a nervous shot. This was just a big waffy. Have you you’ve been doing a we bit of teaching, Pete, though? No, I know. I know. I’m just saying that it’s so it’s not unusual that it’s just so I know but it’s so obviously different. Other people like timing gets bit quick. Yours just like the whole path everything changes. Let’s not get negative. You know my golf’s on the comeback. I’m not one of these guys that say I’m disappointed. It’s embarrassing I’m playing. I’m getting better. It’s so much better. I mean I remember the first couple of games we played and it was it was pretty sore to watch. It’s getting better. Like it’s much better. So the format the format suits though. Okay. So, let’s let’s talk. So, we went we went last week to Ken Ross Golf Club to play the Montgomery. Montgomery. What’s the other course called? Bruce. The Bruce is on the left. The Montgomery’s on the right. Um, and yeah, we played I suppose we I mean people are going to watch the video because the video will be coming out maybe in a couple of weeks. But, uh, is it Well, I think everybody already knows the result by what Andy said. They don’t know the teams yet. All right. They know Andy won. Yeah, they know Pete didn’t. What do you think of King Ross golf course? I I’d heard a lot of people been moaning about Ken Ross the last we while probably the last year or so. Uh and I thought it was excellent. It was really good. The greens were lovely. Uh Pete and I were in a couple of bunkers. Uh and the bunkers were absolutely fine. And that’s that’s the one thing that they’ve been moaning about. I guess the format we played uh was Texas Scramble. So, we weren’t in too many areas that that were kind of not not in not in play as such. Uh you were in one. We’ll go into that in a minute. Don’t you worry. Uh so, yeah, I I was I was quite impressed. I’m sure there’s a couple areas where they filled in bunkers that looked a we bit untidy, but the format we played uh well, I thought that the golf course was good. The green greens are excellent. You can forgive so much when the greens are good. Exactly. I always think the same. If you get fairways, greens, and the bunkers are okay, that’s you. I mean, if somebody asked me how what was the golf course, I don’t care if the rough was scruffy or if anything else was out of place. You get the greens right, you’re good to go, really, isn’t you? Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, so so I I I was pleasantly surprised again. Yeah. I’ve not played it for years and years. Andy, you play a wee bit, don’t you? But um what what I was thinking when I was driving along is you know it’s the kind of golf course that if you want to be good at golf that that is a good place to play. Yeah. You know, like my golf course like London links, you know, it’s a links course. It’s different links, but there’s always like bailouts. Yeah. Like you can hit it miles left at that hole because, you know, there’s some holes where I don’t even the fairway, you know, and so like there’s all it’s very forgiving off the tea and there’s there’s not really a lot of thought process goes into T-shots at Links. Uh, and lots of golf courses leaving very similar. You know, you don’t need to the first at leaving. You can hit miles left or you can go right. There’s choices. But, you know, you don’t have to hit a particular shot. There’s always a bail out is what I’m trying to say. Whereas whereas at Ken Ross, there’s shaped holes. You kind of bail out just about anywhere. Most holes that can there’s maybe two or three holes you can bail out a wee bit, but you can get yourself in trouble. But yeah, there’s you’ve got to shape it right and left off the tea if you want to go further up or you can hit an iron to the corner. There’s there’s choices. I just think that Yeah, it’s tough actually. Yeah, it was good. You’ve got 18 holes of proper shots to hit. Yeah, there’s there’s no real gifts, is there? No. Bad a bad T-shot and you can you can lose a golf ball quite easily. Happened. A lot of the greens have tears on them. Yeah. As well. And I was thinking, you know, that really you really have to be very good with your approach distance when it’s tiered like that. Yeah, it was good. That is it’s a that’s a a really good golf course. Back superb. I always find golf funny in that respect. So, you get all these holes and there’s a couple in Ross where they’re they’re really severe dog legs. A couple of them. A couple. Not too many. um both like you said right to left, left to right and then you stand up in 18 and it’s just straightaway hole and you get this in a lot of golf courses and the straightaway hole and all of a sudden all the hebies start coming out, don’t they? It’s like it’s just so much harder hitting this. You get you’re given choices. Yeah. Yeah. And but the big cut or the big draw, you’re kind of forced into the shot and and it’s it feels easier. But yeah, the straightaway holes sometimes are the ones that that catch you as a golfer more often than not, isn’t it? Yeah. I really like a few holes where the the TE’s are are right back into the trees as well. So you’re hitting, you know, they kind of funnel out to the fairway like the the third hole and a couple of the um can’t remember the other one. Eighth hole, I think. And and you’re really back into the trees. I I think they’re just really visually quite quite nice on on the eye. I like that in a bounce game when you play Texas Scramble. If you had a card in your hand, I would not like that very much at all. You know, it’s tough. You can see why the course record is only like four under, five under par, whatever it is. You know, it’s it’s h it’s a it’s a golf course. I wouldn’t I wouldn’t get fed up playing. I am surprised that the course record is only that by the way. But um yeah, it is a great golf course. Yeah, I just I I would I would be interested to know what people would shoot, you know, a decent amateur event or I think I’m right in saying that in opens they give free games to guys break 80 or they used to anyway. I think they used to do that at Blair Gary as well. Breaks 80, right? But you’re making that sound like it’s a hard golf course. I think I think it’s really tough, but it’s because it’s a course where I would have to hit quite a lot of long clubs off the TE’s and if you have a bad day like I thought you were going to say quite a lot of provisionals. Well, 100% I would. But three or three or four bad drives there are probably three or four lost balls. Like the trees are trees. Like when you’re in those trees, you’re you’re really struggling to even find your ball. I mean, even Ladybank quite treelined, but you’re generally seeing your ball before you can get in the trees. You’re chipping or they’ve cleared the trees out. Can Ross is like I mean your lost ball there and most of the times you hit a bad shot. I think it is a hard golf course. I I can’t think of another harder golf course like locally. I can’t think of very many. Tell me one jukes off the back te is pretty tough. Okay. Okay. That’s just length of Donald. If we hit the ball first is quite easy. It’s definitely not easy. No, it’s but yeah, I think it is tough. Yeah. No, it’s it’s Yeah, we’re good. It’s good. That’s good. I like it. Have you got anything to add on your day at Canor Sandy? Uh, the score. I don’t know. I mean, I feel bad for Pete. The free lunch was really nice. Yeah, it’s always nice being. It’s funny how Excuse me. I had a partner, Donald here. It was a team game. I discovered there is an I in team. The team starts with a P. We wouldn’t be a good Rder Cup player, would he? No. Wait, just for people at home, right? So, there’s one hole near the end where there was one way before near the end. Which one? One where nine I I drove it the ball quite nicely most of the day. I hit two bad T- shots. Oh, that one. Oh, yeah. I was in a fairway bunker and I said Pete says, “What’s it like?” I says, “Might struggle to get it.” No, you said we can’t get the green, right? We can’t get right. So, we can’t get the green from there. I will play mine. I’m dropping it in a hole under a tree where we’ve got to go on our knees. It was absolutely brilliant. Stuart and I were standing. We were down towards the green, weren’t we? And we turned around and minding that it’s a twoman Texas scramble and Pete is on his knees playing 11 practice shots and then moved the ball what 3 ft and Donald’s just like I can’t even get into this ball here. Can I get my kind of contortion? I will play this one. This one’s fine. Semi would have Semi would have loved it. He would have found a way. I see. He would even struggle for that position. But it was I don’t know if you couldn’t get the green. I thought there’s a we chance we can get a smuggly. Anyway, it didn’t happen. It didn’t. It didn’t happen though. And then made four. You made four. You had a really nice near the end. Right. A dog wagon. I’ve tried to let you go first. I tried to turn it around and I’ve clipped to trees and said, “Right, two iron. P. It’s two iron all day. Just hit that. We smuggly two iron thing. Driver. I’m really good. Lost ball. Lost ball. Lost ball. Do you know what’s even funnier? It wasn’t lost ball cuz he found it and he picked it up. Didn’t even look really pay any attention to the shot. I wish you had I probably had a shot to the green through the trees. I think you definitely had a shot. You could have got up near the green. I didn’t tell that. That’s that’s that’s news to me today. Anyway, but yeah, I like Yeah, I thought there was a chance I could just hook it around the corner there. My favorite moment of the day was when Andy had a 3-wood, smoked it, and then Peter had a driver and he had it well. We went up to the first ball and we saw the first ball uh was Peter’s, but we stood next to it like it was our shot and you guys walked 50 60 yards further up to the turbo and while he was while he was spouting comments about, “Oh yeah, I hit my driver really well there.” actually had he clipped a tree off the fairway. He said actually hit that really good there. I know. I went through a tree, but it was Yeah, you guys got us. We waited until you went all the way up to your ball before. That was well played. Calling you back. Oh, that was good. It’s quite easy in the end though, wasn’t it? Yeah. No, it was a good day. I’m glad. Uh that was it was good fun, actually. Yeah, it was good day. Um but yes, we we do have our Hickory video coming out this week, so make sure and like and share that. Um, and what else? Well, we just go straight on to the BMW. Yes. Okay. Um, so, um, the BMW was, uh, I don’t know where it was. It was somewhere in America. Me Memphis. Memphis. Where was Memphis last week? Can’t remember. But anyway, um, yeah. Yeah. Look, it was it was Bob McIntyre just destroying the field for the first three days, wasn’t it? He was, uh, he was phenomenal. Um even in the third day got off to a bogey start I think uh and then came running through again and he had a good good four shot lead going into the last round against the one guy that nobody wants behind you. Um and yeah I mean I don’t want to jump to the end but yeah Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob let him in. It’s a t is starting to get the tiger effect. It is it’s starting to happen you know like people come back to him and then then he just takes off. Do you know what I mean? You couldn’t see him doing that really with anyone else behind him, could you? If it wasn’t Scotty, I don’t think I would. I don’t think he’s losing a four shot lead against many other guys. I don’t He It He didn’t play well. I think we need to stop thinking about as a four shot lead and just go, you know, he was whatever. He’s 16 under after three rounds and then shot three over. So, it was Bob’s mistakes and Sheffller looks awesome doing what he did, but there’s Bob mistakes, wouldn’t it? Yeah. Level par wins it. Hey, well, anything just if he just carries on, you know, no, nobody has four good rounds. So, you’re already allowed a little blippy round or you very rarely have four good rounds. It was a bad round there. That was all it was. The thing is with Sheffler is his bad round is 67. It’s cuz he’s the best. But yeah, he just doesn’t have his his ceiling for a score now just seems so low. You know, you’re Bob’s going out there knowing that yeah, he’s up against Sheffler, but you know, he’s four ahead. He’s going to have to shoot probably under par to win, isn’t he? And but the way he was playing that, he didn’t look as though he was going to do anything else but shoot under par. But he had a he had a bad day. He just simple as that. And he doesn’t know why. And said he was suddenly hitting it miles on the day. Got a we bit unlucky a couple of times. He just kept running out of fairway. Just kept running through greens. He’s he’s not he’s not Tommy Fleetwood. Not like I I just I was waiting for him all day to find something and just be going again cuz I feel like he’s got that grit in him. He definitely has. Tommy Tommy looked like the nerves got to Tommy. Yeah. It didn’t look like with Bob. It just looked like a bad day. Couldn’t get anything going. Couldn’t hold a P. Couldn’t get the ball in the fair. Couldn’t And then he made a wedge into a bunker and it was just a couple of like just like a come on. It wasn’t nervy though. I said yesterday I thought the 15th hole was a big turnaround because Bob finally found a drive and he needed to he’s he’s only one behind. He needed to find a drive. He found the drive right down the middle. Sheer’s in a fairway bunker and then Bob hits it in close and you think this is it. This is Bob. He’s going to he’s going to hold that part. I can’t see him missing that part. But then Sheffller hits it in closer. Yeah. And suddenly you’re like oh maybe will miss this part. Uh, you know, I just felt and then he did and then Sheffler hold his and actually Bob a good one for his part, but I felt like that was that was it. That was Do you know what I thought? I thought he’d done amazingly well to keep it interesting for so long cuz he really was struggling. Yeah. And until it wasn’t over until Sheffller chipped in at 17. If he if I mean Sheffller could easily have made four there from that position. Yeah. Easily. You know, even the par five before Sheffller’s all over the place. Um and and and Bob hit the shot. I mean, it was a brilliant golf shot with that hybrid. Nearly par five, you know, he really and then the par three that was a tough par three and he hit a really good iron. It just went five yards too far. I mean, you hit great shots down the stretch there. He did. He did. She che Sheffller never hit that green and played it in one under. Yeah. But but he but he missed it in the right place and and that’s what he does. That’s not That’s a Sheffller movie. He’s not interested in anything. I don’t know. Missed it in the right place. Did that look like an easy chip? It didn’t look hard. Oh. Oh, I don’t think Why Why did it look hard to you? To be because Because you dump You dump it on top of the on top of the tear and then it trickled over that hill. Yeah. So, yeah. That two yards too hard and it’s in the water. All right. So, what is it? An 80 yard an 80 foot chip. It’s really a 15ft chip, isn’t it? I don’t I don’t know. I don’t I don’t see that as a hard chip. To be fair, the the commentator said it was an easy chip. He said he said it should be, but I I I looked at and I thought, “Oh, there’s a good chance he’ll look up and down here, but the commentators did say before he got to the ball, he’s like, that’s that’s an easy up and down.” Which I was quite surprised. His looked easier than Bob’s up and down. Bob’s wasn’t easy either. I think the lie was sitting really well as well. Yeah, the lie was much better. I I just think he played the played the whole just just the way Sheffller would play it, you know, if he if it’s not perfection. Perfection would have been on the three yards short of the fringe really on the green, but he just played where he want to play it and and then the chip wasn’t in my opinion wasn’t hard. Um Bob being a left-hander, that shape of that green isn’t as hard as it is for a righthander. Um hit an awesome shot in there. Just adrenaline took it a wee a couple of yards too far. But by that point, he’s chasing, isn’t he? So like we’re talking about this as if it was the Sheffle’s just a machine. He just doesn’t come back to you. I mean, he had that one three putt around about 13 14. Two three pots, did you not? Well, yeah, but there was the one where he missed from really short range and had double coming back. I can’t remember what it was, but um and that was that was like, oh, is he going to but you just know it’s not really affected him, you know, next to where you kind of, you know, the golfing gods would give you that same putt again. I just feel like he’s he’s mentally better than that. His bounce back rate of, you know, bogeying and then burying the next is something ridiculous. It’s like 60 something% or Yeah. How many rounds in a row you done under par? God, it must be a lot. Something ridiculous. Uh, and he picks up a caddy off the street and just off you go. Just who’s who’s on this week? Who wants to carry the bag this week? Just carry on. You know, just like amazing. The player the player of the year chat that I said last week is all over now, isn’t it? 100%. I mean, we’re all just looking at Andy here. I know. I know. Yeah. It’s completely done. Absolutely. He just doesn’t have weeks like Maro just had. I know he’s had weeks off and he’s finished way down and and JJ Spawn’s way down. Justin Rose is way way down. He’s just the next He’s different level than all these guys. Completely different level. Different level than Maroy. Maroy is a game when he when he produces can compete. Sheffield doesn’t need a game to compete. He’s now not missed a cut in three years, which is nah, but that’s not the same as it used to be that ch. Well, is going to speak less in the spot, but there’s there’s no cuts. Tiger used to play world championship events as well. I know, but all these signature events like Ricky Fowler getting almost through the top 30 there, you know, against certain guys that that just like we said last week, there’s no there’s no cuts in these events he’s getting these these invites into. I I think it’s ruining golf to a certain extent cuz the exciting part of that week, barring the the win, was the looking at the top 30 board. Um, and and I like that. I I love that part of golf and I love the part of and and that’s what a cut is technically in and but it’s always been the same, Pete, hasn’t it? when there was cuts, but there’s less and less these world championship events. They were getting points and money. Yeah. But there was only four WG four four a year to start off with and then it moved up and then and then all of a sudden you got this and it’s just becoming more and more where I think golf’s losing out in that respect. I know why they’re doing it, but it just doesn’t doesn’t appeal to me. Uhhuh. Okay. Yeah, chef. She chefer. I was looking there’s a there’s a couple of stats here I’ve got. So, this year he’s won 46.9 million so far. Sorry, just prize money. That’s it. Well, well, he’s he’s um career, sorry, official PG tour earnings is 23 or 24 million. He gets 10 million for the seasonl long FedEx Cup leader. He gets 8 million for some business tour top 10 winner, whatever that is. FedEx Cup leader after BMW gets 5 million. And I guess he’s going to go next next week and win more again. And he’s probably very much the favorite. Um he’s joined only four three four other players, no three other players to win 12 times plus three majors in in a two-year span. 12 12 times including three majors. So Palmer, Nicholas, and Tiger all did that multiple times right enough. But he’s he is in the he is definitely Tiger. the next tiger. He’s not going anywhere. He’s almost one of the alltime greats already, isn’t he? Yeah, he is. No, I’ve been I’ve been holding off seeing these things for He’s just I know. I don’t want to say it. You have to You have to now. He’s done it for There is an element of longevity in there already. 43% of events this year that he’s played. Tiger’s best was just over 50 when it for a spell. Still better, but he’s there’s still Brooks and Maroy ahead of him in majors, you know. Well, Maroy is not. No, Macro is the same as him, isn’t he? No, Macro’s on five. Yeah, Brooks and Mroy are head on at the moment. Yeah, he just need But yeah, that’s the thing with golf is you just don’t know what’s going to happen in the next few years. You never know. Maybe he’ll just have a bad He just never hides down. He’s maybe tiger in his private life. What do you mean? Lots of practicing. Uh you never know. So he’s already won the This is what I was I was speaking to somebody yesterday about this. So like next week coming up obviously it’s to win the FedEx tour championship really is what it used to be wasn’t it? Yeah. So I mean he’s won merit right? It’s basically back to just that. Yeah. Yeah. So I mean is it a case where does it really matter who wins next week he’s won or merit or are we going to remember the who won the FedEx? I think he’s still tour championship still tour championship. I used to always like tour championship. I know. But do you remember who wins tour championship? So do you remember who wins or so Monty won his eight or I know this is in yesterday year golf. If Andy you you were alive. Here’s Monty. But Monty won eight order of merits. He didn’t always win the last tournament of the year. But do you remember who won the last tour of the year? Monty hardly ever won it, but he won the order of merits. I mean, we have a tour championship in the Europe at that point, did they? They always had a tournament at the end. Valdderama, that was their tour championship, wasn’t it? Yeah. So, there was and whoever won it, say Faldo won it, then Monty still won or whatever. I’m just saying, will we are we going to have to look back and think who won the FedEx? Who won or is a thing anymore or is the FedEx the thing now? I think uh trying to think what you’re talking about. Uh the FedEx Cup is the order of merit is the Yeah, that’s not the FedEx cup. That’s the best player of the year and then the tour championship is just the guy who wins the tour championship. It’s tour champ is just like a big tour event, isn’t it? It’s just like it’s probably six best tour event on the tour for them. That’s the FedEx FedEx champion here. Anyway, these are the things that goes on in my little marble head. Yeah. Oh, don’t know if you’ll remember, but you’ll remember. They’ll change it again next year anyway to something different. Yeah. Well, I think they should maybe have 32 qualify and then have a cut every day and then go to 16. So, the top 16 go through to the second round and then top eight go to the third round, four play the last round, something like that. But this week, uh, Sheffller been going out with Maroy in the last group, which quite interesting. At least he’s not got a 10 shot lead over some of them. I I think I think the FedEx couple the the tour championship will be better this year. I’ll enjoy it more just just cuz you know where everybody stands. Yeah. Just none of this fing about with giving Sheffller handicap. I agree. And it will cuz Rory’s got to surely be gone out with a point to prove. I do. Yeah. I’m I’m as good as him. Rory in his head must think he’s he’s still the best. Is there a point in every career though? Like I’m probably like Tiger winning in 2019 was that we didn’t know it but that was it. We did know it. We did know it. But like is Rory’s win at the Masters this year? Is that it? No, it can’t be. He’s won his grand slam. He’s suddenly gone off the boil since then. Really? I’m hoping he just needs a bit of time to get his head his head clear. Maybe the RDER Cup might just be a nice we little, you know, get his get his mind on something else and then hopefully go to next season he kind of comes back. But it does look like he’s kind of lost a bit of this this week was just a a warm up for him as well. Playing himself back in. Yeah. Hasn’t played for three weeks, hasn’t picked up club. So, and then he said, you know, he said he hit some nice shots. He he found something he thinks. So, uh I I would love to see him playing good this week. I’d love to see them both playing well. See what happens. It looks like he’s trying to peak for Ryder Cup. If you if you’re in this camp and you’re saying, “Right, he’s basically three weeks right hitting the ball.” So, he’s given up, well, I can’t win Nor. I don’t care if I win the tour championship because that’s not what he’s peing for. He’s peeking for Ryder Cup. If you’re taking three weeks off in the last two events of the year, he’s obviously given up. Well, Scotty’s won merit. So, I was starting to think I was when you were saying that I was thinking who who would want to peak for the Ryder Cup? Why would you want to peak there? I I don’t know whether even though it’s a huge event and it’s great fun. Well, who would take three weeks off before the the so-called two biggest events of the year? Three weeks off off. He says barely touch the club. Okay. I just find that strange. Well, I mean, they’ve talked about how hot it’s been and how much it’s taken out them these last two weeks. So Ro has only played one of the two to get himself ready for next week possibly. Maybe he’s played two out of the three various cups. I mean, yeah. I mean, he doesn’t play that often three weeks in a row anyway, does he? Really? As a golfer though, why would you peak yourself? Why would you look at the calendar go I want to peek there? Would you want to peek at the major? Well, the Ryder Cup means more to the Europeans than it does to the Americans, doesn’t it? But yeah, I’m with you, Stuart. No, but what I’m saying is if you if you think he’s trying to peak for next week, it seems like a strange way to peak. having three weeks completely sat on a beach to I’ll play one quick tournament then oh I’ll be peaked that’s that I mean that’s not how I peaked but I don’t know maybe that is his way of peing how did you pee I peaked I never peaked but I would imagine if I was trying to ever peak I don’t know how many players around the corner see if you asked all the players see if you ask all the players at start year what would you rather win the tour championship or the or play well the red cup and win the red cup they choose I think it depends on who you ask. Like Ryder Cup’s huge for all of these guys, whereas I don’t know, Rory, I don’t know. I don’t think that’s a straightforward question. I um I could see people saying both answers really. I could say 99% saying they’ll take the tour championship. Ah, so would I really? And that 1% is Rory M. Just about. Yeah. Yeah. The Ryder Cup’s like a treat at the end of the year, but the tier championship. Yeah, that’s a treat as well as a treat. Championship is a treat. Their tour championship 10 million in their to use word their resume at the end of their career will stand out there that played well in the RDER Cup. Yeah, I I think I think it would be Do you think Maroy would really care if that’s on his resume after everything he’s kind of done? And just keep we keep talking we keep talking about majors being resumes and this isn’t even an order of merit. This is just another tournament. This is just a big tournament. This is a So what? Justin Rose won a big tournament two weeks ago. Do you think he would? Well, okay. This is bigger. Slightly bigger. Yeah, slightly bigger money. Less of a field. Um, I don’t think it’s as as close a book as you guys think. That question you asked you. I think it’s I think and I think quite a few guys would possibly go the other side and say I would take winning across the pond for the first time in so many years in the Ryder Cup and be a star man in the Ryder Cup. than than win a tournament in the US and still not win or drum out. There’s so many players that you look back on Ryder Cup records and you go he’s got a good Ryder Cup record. He played once and you know like who’s the Nicholas Karts for somebody you know. Yeah, we’re talking about Maroy. You weren’t talking about Kosarts. I was talking about the mall actually. I said the ball. But yeah, Maroy might I don’t know. Maybe they get stuck on that question. But yeah, I just think uh yeah, I don’t think there’s a lot left in golf that Maroy would really really really need to get or want to get up for now. But majors and Cup would be big ones I think. Yeah. Okay. But he could play great in the RDER Cup and the team loses. He could win five points out of five. That wasn’t a question that was posted posted was to a winning team in the red cup and play great at the start of the carry your team to victory in the I wouldn’t really care if our team lost if I won five points because I’ve done my job and I look good. So you what what would you rather do Andy? Play in the RDER Cup, win the RDER Cup or just beat Pete. I’ll beat Pete. Yeah, that’s that’s me peaked. That’s my career peak was on Friday. Bob McIntyre is up to eighth in the world. I know. It’s amazing. It is amazing. Brilliant. Well, not amazing as in Oh my god, I don’t I can’t believe it. Big time Bob as the Americans call. It is amazing the fact I was doubting him a couple of years ago. I’ll agree. Totally agree. So, he’s he’s he’s squashed all that. Um he’s under pressure apart from this week’s a bad day. But it wasn’t a pressure thing, just a bad day. Yeah, he’s he’s he’s a guy I would um top rider cup again. He’s a guy I would put out last and be quite comfortable that he’s going to be able to control the situation. He’s he’s a top player in the world. still doesn’t look it to me, but he’s a top player in the world. He still looks like there’s improvements to be made, but he hits he hits great golf shots, doesn’t he? He will be in a key position in the RDER Cup. Yeah, you can. Yeah, you can. Do you see um did you see when they flipped his swing from left-handed to right-handed the other night? No, just to have a look at it. And oh, he looks better. He looks like a really good player when it’s right-handed. It’s just I think it’s something to do with the fact he’s left-handed. Doesn’t look right to me. But yeah, maybe that’s just what it is to me as well. I I I was sent to a lesson yesterday. He was kind of talking about the golf and stuff and I I said I would hold my hands up. I was one of the first ones at the start of the season. I thought he’d be struggling to to really compete in many things this year. I thought made cuts would probably be a really good thing for him this year. We we a couple of years ago we were even saying will he keep a card in the States? You know, he’s proved us all wrong. And I disagreed with you. Well, you you did Donald to be fair. You were on his bike. It’s always good. It’s always easy to say these things once it’s happened. Sat over there very arrogant, isn’t he? No, I’ve been a I’ve always been a fan. You have, Donald. You have uh Well, well, we’re fans. I’m a fan. I just think he’s just exceeded my expectations and I and uh but I could see him. It’s great to see I see him as a major winner now. Yeah, he’s definitely his name’s there. Yeah. Every major you think Bob could do well this week. Yes. But for a while it was kind of a hopeful we’re Scottish. Bob could do well this week. But now it’s like, yeah, I think he’d be one of the first in the even when he even when he won the Scottish the following week, I was sort of like um you know, he will still take making the cup will still be good for him. Whereas now he could win a couple of events and I still think he he’ll be up there next week. He’ll be up there next week. It wouldn’t surprise me. Well, he hasn’t really got he hasn’t really got a weakness, has he? No. You know, you look at him, he’s a great putter, phenomenal putter. His driver is long and it’s it’s obviously very good. His irons, I mean, hit squ There’s not really a weakness in there. He used to say when he first came out and I remember watching him and thinking short game doesn’t look that tight but short game’s good. Very good. Um I don’t see a weakness really. So um that’s that’s brilliant. He’s grown on me a lot as well. I think he comes across quite similar to Maroy in his interviews where he’s quite honest with the way he talks as well. Probably says stuff that he maybe shouldn’t say. I think he would be a sponsor’s nightmare. They’d be waiting for him to say something that he just shouldn’t say. But isn’t it? It is. It’s it’s really refreshing and you you kind of like I would I would almost wait five minutes to just hear what he had to say. Whereas some of them like Justin Rose comes up on the monitor, oh we got Justin Rose here, you know, how’d you get on? It’s like I don’t I don’t want to listen to this. Whereas Bob, I’d be like, oh, I’m quite interesting to hear what he’s got to say. You know, it was interesting hear them talk there like Tommy Fleetwood’s had his couple of major disasters and Tommy’s kind of tried to put positive spins on it. Bob just went abysmal. I want to throw my clubs about to wreck the place. Just so honest. Good. And do you know I would expect Bob to compete this week. Oh yeah. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, I wouldn’t be I wouldn’t be surprised. I again my brain s jumps to I don’t think he’ll win, but I don’t think he won either, but only because he’s Scottish Sheffller. Take Scotty Sheffller out the field. Yeah, I would say he’s got a chance. I like it that he gives the fans something back as well. a couple of times he’s sort of, you know, telling them a shush and stuff and he’s not he’s not he’s not really scared to kind of like cuz I actually thought halfway through the I watched quite a lot of the third round and his his demeanor the way that he’s quite he’s really sort of just looks in control of what he’s doing like emotionally wise and then he kind of has a we sort of dig back at the crowd. He doesn’t let get on, you know, doesn’t let him affect it but I I just don’t know. I think mentally he looks he looks good. I wondered that when that happened, I thought, is that just gonna cause him some issues at the right cup? Would you remember he put his pajamas and stuff on at the at the last ride? He put the pajamas on with the score on the back and stuff like to wind up the the um the US. So, it’s I He just seems like he’s got some balls about him really. I like it. It’s grown on me a lot. Yeah. There’s the comment he said about the dog. The dog the fight the size of the dog in the fight. It’s not the size of the dog in the fight. It’s the size of the fight and the dog or something like that. I know that’s a saying, but I loved it when he said that. And then of course the dog was like a little puppy. He got put down. He got hit by the Sheffler train unfortunately. But no, yeah, you do. I do enjoy listening getting interviewed as well. So before we move away from that tournament, if you were um Harry Hall, well, let’s chat. Harry Hall, sorry you go. Yeah. Yeah, go. So Harry Hall to me is well that’s him snuck into the Tour Championship. Um chipped in at 16 17 whatever it is. Anyway um one do you want him in the team? Do you think he’s a Ric Cup player? He seems a very nice lad very good putter which is good for Ric Cup. Um he just we don’t really know him. He just lumps about he just lumps about is what I see. But do you want him in your cup team how good we’d have to finish this week to get in the red cup? Why do we not? Why? He feels a little bit like Straa a couple years ago. Yeah. Like who’s this guy? Like why is he so good? We don’t know him. He’s English. Never heard of him. Exactly like Straa. He won last year. He’s got that Bryson look about him, you know, with his cap when Bryson used to wear that. But yeah, nobody knows him. He doesn’t drive it well enough, I don’t think, does he? That’s the the weakest part of his game from what I’m hearing. Right. But as you say, he’s talking about being the best putter out there. Yeah, I think he’s the England statistically one of the best on tour and Ryder Cups. That’s obviously a huge thing. You can’t sort of find putting at Red Cup. That tends to be everyone gets slightly I think he’s he’s not even been considered yet. He’s similarly Do you know how the a few of the guys in the get measured up? He’s he’s not never had that phone call. Uh it’s weird because you know Raasmas Hogard’s in. I mean, we’re all thinking he’s in and but Raasmas Hogar didn’t even qualify. I mean, where did he finish in the in the FedEx Cup? Miles down. He didn’t qualify for Did he even qualify for last week? Was he playing last week, Rasmus? I think maybe he did. Don’t know. But he’s not qualifying for the NDA tour championship by quite a distance. Harry Hall’s in. So, why do we, you know, and that’s where the best players in the world are. Why are we dismissing? There’s points. The Rasmus has points that started last year as well, but yeah, we’re just dismissing. It’s an It’s an 18mon thing. Um I think Nichol Nicholas Nikolai Hogard is actually further up but it doesn’t matter. Um there’s that but then you So Harry Hall’s ahead of other people as well. So he’s ahead of Fitzpatrick. If you picking team tomorrow you putting in Harry Hall for Fitzpatrick. Well if you based on the last 12 months which is what the Fed Cup is. Harry Hall’s got the form doesn’t he? And Fitzpatrick Rder Cup record is awful. Yeah that’s a good point. And Raasmus has never played. Yeah. But they’re still talking about Nikolai is possibly because his brother’s there, but you’d have Harry Hall Holland before him, wouldn’t you? I don’t think Nikolai Nikolai. Mhm. He did play very well in the Red Cup. Well, he played nicely in the Red Cup rookie wise. Um, I’m the same. If I was Luke Donald, I wouldn’t be paying attention to Harry Hall. I don’t, you know, I don’t not saying I’m not paying attention. I’m saying you can’t not pay attention to him now. He’s kind of keep he keeps sort of popping up and he’s he’s always been a guy that pops up. Like you said, he’s I don’t know. He’s just one of these guys that don’t want. He’ll definitely be getting talked about. I think you have to talk about you. You just don’t He’s a guy that you just have no idea what his level is. Like where’s Yeah. What What is his level? We’re going to get more of this going forward, aren’t they? As kids leave college in America and just play never come over here. And the European tour is not what it used to be and you’re just going to play the States and Oh, who’s this guy? I don’t recognize this guy. He’s got an American accent. He’s got a Scottish flag next to his name. There’s an there’s an amateur just now doing that. Yeah. uh you know there’s going to be more of this. I I didn’t actually know until about the third round that he was English. I didn’t know if if people were talking about getting in the American team or the or the European team. I didn’t even I didn’t even know. He’s a guy that creeps up, but I I heard the name, but I I Yeah. Anyway, no idea. So, well, it’s just the first 11 are just a bit picked, aren’t they, for the Rider Cup? Well, to be talking about Raasmus, Rasmus went back and played the European Tour event this this week and basically almost almost won it for the second. So, yeah, if he’d won it though, he was in my head if he he was he was four ahead with about a few a few to go. Yeah. And I was thinking, oh well, that just proves that just proves that you play in the States for a bit. You you come back, you think you’re you’re a big fish in a small pond and you win it easy and then he kind of gassed it. But there something that Marco Ping is Yeah. Yeah. He I mean it can’t be Ryder Cup Marco Pench. Why not? He’s 14th in the standings. Raasmus is eighth. I mean I think he’s a superstar in the waiting. Who’s who’s eighth down in the standings? I can’t see Marco Pence making the team. So we’ve got we’ve already got Maroy McIntyre Fleetwood Rose and Hatton in Shane Lowry is above the line but he’s not qualified yet. Um, so we’ve got Shane Larry, Sept Striker 7, Raasmus, Ludvig, Victor Hovlin, Matt Wallace, Fitzpatrick, Thomas Detry, Marco Penge, Aaron Ry, Jordan Smith, Harry Hall. So the next Nicholas Nicholas Hogard’s next. Yeah, but yeah, that’s Matt Wallace is the he’s the bubble boy, isn’t he? Yeah. Mhm. I mean, Marco Pen is second in the European Order of America. Yeah. Sometimes based this year, you know, not 18 months. Yeah. Look, look, he’s a phenomenal talent. He’s very athletic. Golf. Yeah. Very, very good player. Um Um How many majors has he played? How many big big tournaments has he been in? These are the sort of questions I don’t know. Um I think the next three weeks. So you’ve got it’s only it’s after this week. Is it after this week the pick team? British Masters. It’s after that. That’s the last qualifying event for Europe. Yep. As well. Yep. I think the problem with the with the DP world, it’s like it’s like saying, you know, the the the team that’s winning the championship in football, they’re winning it by a country mile. How are they going to get on in the premiership? It just it’s got no correlation to me. Like if if Aaron Ry played most of his golf in Europe, I would expect him to be up there. Yeah. Matt Fitzpatrick’s playing in Europe this week and I feel like he’s only there he has to win. He’s only there just to prove that he’s really keen to get in, you know. Yeah. But he still has to do well. But he’s going to get in. He’s a major champion. He’s going to he’s in. So I guess in theory British masters coming out because we should build up a lot of the European golf as if Marco Pen wins this week. He’s got to be really really thought of right for Red Cup. If if Fitzpatrick wins, again, he’s he’s basically definitely in. If Raasmus wins, definitely in. If Nikolai wins, questions again. There’s there’s so many guys that if they win that and and if if Matt Wallace wins, you know, he’s pretty close to being in. I wouldn’t say he’s a definite, but um there there’s so many guys that if they win this week, it should be a big big event for for Ryder Cup purposes. And it’s, you know, I’m sure it’ll be the Faldo show cuz it’s it’ll be the cuz it’s the Bet Fred Nick Fo. You know how you know how we went down to six picks and six non non-picks? Mhm. J’s right. I mean, the reason we did it at the time was oh because it was all over the place. People on live and people are on PJ tour, people are playing in Europe. I don’t understand why the Americans went to six picks. You know, like why would you not just pick the best 12, the top 12? Why would you bother with oh he’s out of form but this guy’s played better than I’m you know so he gets in it doesn’t make makes much sense. I don’t really understand either the 18 month thing. Why over 18 months? Why not just the last six months? 18 months is a long time. You want the guys that are in form to be in the team surely 18 months is a long time. I mean even if you look at um Aber’s form over the last 10 months has been nowhere near what it what it was 18 months ago. like don’t mind he’s a class golfer. He’s still a class golfer, but I kind of feel like he’s had a really kind of poor season on what I where I was expecting him to be. 18 months ago was a long time. I know you could you could win four events in that, you know, a year ago and have qualified and missed every cut since then. Yeah, but we’re going Oh, Aberg uh he didn’t, you know, if we did it for the last six months, he wouldn’t get in the team. But we we would pick him anyway because Oh, he might play well in the R cup though. Well, as I his ceiling’s quite high, isn’t it? As I talk about Yeah, he is class. But but but the guy that’s in form that’s playing better than him just now is we’re assuming that he’s going to go to the RDER Cup and not play as well as Aber. We just assume that. Yeah, I know. But that’s another six weeks away, isn’t it? Do you think some of the can change form form form is temporary. Class is permanent. Do you think do you think some of the captains might um sort of like say there’s a guy that’s close to qualifying but isn’t but the captain sort of knows a guy and he’s like I think he’ll probably the bed at the Ryder Cup like that could definitely persuade them. Do you know what I mean? Like you know that’s obviously the whole point of wild cards, isn’t it? It’s picking guys that might get on well with the team or get on well with that format that other guys won’t. And I remember the the Canadian guy that played I’ve forgotten his name now that played in the in the President’s Cup and he absolutely wet the bed like a class player but absolutely wet the bed. I mean it was so blatantly obvious. So again it’s like guys like that must there must be guys out there that they think he would withstand that. I think that’s I’m just a wild guess. I think that’s partly where where Matt Wallace he’s he’s very emotional golfer Matt Wallace and he and like him or lump him or love him or hate him whatever you like but he’s he’s he’s very very emotional. Um, and and I think the they looked for an excuse not to pick him when he won four times in one season and didn’t get in. And you know, that’s what I mean. If he wins this week, I think he has to win this week because I think I think he is the guy that that possibly the selectors if he doesn’t make the team, I think he’s you’re a hard pick to to pick him. And I think he’s a class golfer. So there’s so many times also when you say, “Oh, well, but we’ll pick Polar because he’s brilliant in the RDER Cup.” when he comes along to Glenn came back to bite us finally. But like so you don’t know you know he’s he’s great in the R cup but couldn’t win a point. He was absolutely hopeless. It was like one at least one pick too many didn’t he? Garcia was the same as well. Steven Gallaer had to play with him and it’s not you know as a rookie having somebody that’s playing rubbish. See at the end of the day that last that player 12 is not going to make or break the RDER Cup for us. No no it’s it’s the top end that’s going to win the RDER Cup for us, isn’t it? Live golf’s probably screwed this up, but I feel like we should go back to I think I think it should six picks is a joke. I feel like it should be 10 and two like it used to be. Yeah, we we’ve not I’m might completely gone out of my head. We’ve not got anyone in Europe that would get in the team anyway though, do we? Ram. Oh, sorry. Ram Ter’s qualified Oh, yeah. Take that back. Just two. Can you edit that? Yeah. So, the Americans have Bryson and Kea. I don’t know if he would be there. He’s pretty poor season. is not even considered. Yeah. So, I don’t know. It’s a Yeah, it’s interesting. Yeah. Um, Marco Pen won the Danish Open. Finnish challenge was won by David Law. Uh, yeah. Who is now top of the challenge tour rankings. Danny Young seventh, Yan Walker’s 15th. All chasing their top 20 for European tier spots for next year. Brilliant, isn’t it? Three Scots in the top 20. David L’s just a bit like a shoe in now then is he not that’s guaranteed now. Yeah. And that that that’s great when you think it’s a world tour and we got three Scots in the top 10 there. Three tops from top 20. Yeah. Brilliant. Just go back for two seconds. Where’s Pavon? Was he not having a great season? Was that last season? Pavo. Was that last season he won two or three? Jesus Christ. Yeah. Ed edit that as well. Um other news. I was going to bring this up earlier. can’t remember why I was going to bring up but the the there was a reason I was going to bring up no not that this is I’m dismissing this. The World Cup team was announced yesterday. So Cameron Adam from Burgess Burgess. Yep. Uh he’s in um Connor Graham’s in again which I think is uh this is going to be unusual. That’s Connor Graeme. He’s 18 years old. He’s only a freshman at university in the States and he’s doing well. Um so he’s in for the second time. he played last time when he was 16. He was the youngest player ever from Blair Gary. He’s likely to play another one. I mean, as long as he keeps his form going and all that, he’s likely to play three three long as he doesn’t become pro. Yeah. Yeah. But he’s in college now. The chances are I reckon he’ll see his days out. But so potentially three rider cups going to be really Walker Cups, which is really unusual nowadays and people play a Walker Cup and turn pro because they’re normally about 22. Anyway, so he’s he’s doing well. And then the other Scott is uh Shields Donigan. How many did Tiger play? Just the one. [Music] Cuz he’ been in from you when the US amateur when he was six. Since when he was 12, he might have played two. He might have played two. Yeah, definitely didn’t play three. That’s still one that stat came up the other day. his um US junior, you know, whatever it was. 92, 93, 94, US amateur, 95, 96, 97. It’s ridiculous. That was that’s an unbelievable run. Yeah, Scotty will never I don’t believe it. You don’t believe it. And there is there is a couple of we ones in there where he was like five down, six to go and stuff. It was great. You know, it’s not like he just sailed through them all. There’s a couple where he could have broken up that match is just so unpredictable, you know, to do that six years in a row. He never really had a great RDER Cup record, did he really? In the singles. Hopeless. Just cuz he was interested in the tour championship when more or less. Wonder how interested Scott is in the RDER Cup. He might not even play this week. Might just set sit out. I just think it’s Yeah. I I wonder how much they just I’d love to play in the RDER Cup. I want to be there and I’d love it’ be great if we could win as a team, but it’s not your driving. I mean, Scott get beat nine and seven last time. And Kepk, wasn’t that the two of them? Nine and seven. Nine and seven. Yeah, we didn’t even get beaten that on Friday against the UK. Close though. Felt like it. Anyway, so is it is the tour championship this week top 30 British Masters Matt Fitzpatrick and both the Hogards are there. I couldn’t see. Marco Pen is there and we had the the leaving competition with the the the um Tartan Pro Tour just along the road there. couple of last week Greg De I just got to say because you started the third round so the final no the second round sorry eight straight birdies which is I mean I know it was in it was a good day blah blah nice sunshine but eight birdies to start your day that’s that’s that’s a good way it 10 in the first 12 yeah it’s 10 under yeah 26 and to be fair he did bogey the par five next which for him is a drive nine iron maybe lost the ball you’ve got to be you’ve got to be thinking 57 at that point 10 is drivable 12 14. I know. Oh, he’s 59 all over that. He’s like 54. He’s like, but yeah, eight straight. That’s awesome. Eight straight. Phenomenal. Out in 26, I think it’s got to be the lowest I’ve ever heard of. I’ve seen a couple of guys like 28, even 27 maybe. The par five, the n’s the par four, three. Yeah, mental. Yeah, that is. That was an amazing start. And they went on to win the tournament. So, I was actually really angry when I checked later on and it was 62. Like, I got really angry. You gassed it, Greg. You gassed it. You already shot 62. But yeah. No. Brilliant. Anyway, um that’s that’s it. Oh. Oh, wait a minute. Oh, we’ve forgotten to do it. Well, I said on the thing that we were going to announce the winner of the shot scope. I thought you said we forgot to press record. I know. That’s what I thought was coming. Definitely thought he was going to say that. Uh so I will put the winner of the shot scope uh rangefinder in a post now in the next 10 minutes or 3 hours because we better draw it. Yeah, we better draw it. But yes, okay, that that’s going to happen. But anyway, we’ll speak to you all next week. Bye-bye. Bye. Bye. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat.
