Emporia Girls Golf Set for Start of Season Tuesday

The Emporia High School girls’ golf season begins competitions on Tuesday, with a home golf tournament at the Emporia Municipal Golf Course. 1st year Head Coach Caleb Short says that he is happy with what he has seen from the girls so far and is excited for competitions to begin.

Emporia loses Elise Eckert who made State last year for the Lady Spartans due to transferring to Seaman High School, while Coach Short takes over for Rick Eckert who resigned in the spring after more than 20 years at EHS.

Short says that he likes the group of players he has this season.

Junior Kelsey Shull is the top returner this year for Emporia and says  it’s exciting to have the state tournament in Emporia this season and to start the season at home at the Emporia Municipal Golf on Tuesday.

Emporia Girls Golf opens the season on Tuesday at 3 p.m at the Emporia Municipal Golf Course.
