Long-time lurker here, sharing my golf simulator build. I focused on balancing a high-end feel, low cost, and a stowable design. The enclosure, set in my third garage (single-car garage door), lifts to the ceiling with an electric hoist and has folding sides, allowing the garage door to open and close when stowed. Setup or stowaway takes about 10 minutes. I reinforced the attic joists with steel bracing and 2x6s for safety. The frame uses 2x4s and 2x2s, with interior tiles made from OSB, 2" memory foam toppers, and marine vinyl. Ten-foot curtains hang on both sides, with a front curtain planned.

I used a Spectrum Golf Poly Spacer impact screen with a SportsScreen electronic roll-down unit. The projector is a used Epson 5535U 5500-lumen DLP, bought on Ebay for $125 (originally $3000 in 2017). I’m using a Square launch monitor. The hitting mat is a 36mm thick Amazon mat, but I plan to upgrade it by putting a 12×24 high-end hitting strip in it.

This build was challenging, but I’m pleased with the outcome.

  1. Looks awesome. Where did you source the memory foam and how are you liking it?
