BARK RIVER, Mich. – Redbird senior TJ Barger (-7) and sophomore Max Faucquez (-5) are each under par after the first two rounds at the 2025 Island Resort Intercollegiate, and the Redbirds – at six under par for the day – are in 10th place with 18 holes to play in the tournament.

West Virginia leads the field after two rounds with a 536 (-40), with Purdue (541), St. Mary’s (551), Michigan (555), and Michigan State (559) rounding out the top five. UCF (559), Nebraska (560), South Dakota State (562), and UTEP (563) are all just ahead of the Redbirds’ 569. Ball State (573), and Miami (Ohio) (573) round out the 11 schools in the tournament field.

Barger was under par in each of the rounds on the opening day, starting with a one-under 71, and coming back with a six-under 66 on his second time around the course. The 66 is tied for the 19th-lowest single-round in program history, and he is tied for ninth in the field through 36 holes.

Faucquez was also under par on both sets of rounds on Sunday, opening with a two-under 70 while following with a three-under 69 for his two-round 139, which has him tied for 16th overall.

Francis Bautista, at +2 on the day with a 146, is the Redbirds’ third golfer after 36 holes and his total has him tied for 62nd in the individual field. He opened his day with a one-under 71, and followed with a three-over 75, and he had six birdies in all on his day.

Sophomore Aiden Cudney had a balanced day with rounds of 74 and 73, and he is tied for 68th with a round to go in the tournament, using four birdies per round for his score.

Pietro Pontiggia, playing as an individual, shot a 77 to open the day, before following it with a one-under 71 on his second round. The senior, who is tied for 73rd in the field, had two birdies in his first round, and four over his second.

Playing in his first collegiate tournament, Gonzalo Cuellar had rounds of 74 and 75 on his day, as he opened his college career strong with three birdies in his first nine holes and had five birdies in total over the 36 holes on the day, and is in 78th with a round to play.
