Scottie Scheffler and caddie Ted Scott have enjoyed one of golf’s most successful partnerships since 2021, but for Sunday’s final round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Scheffler had to turn to a different caddie.
Ahead of Sunday’s final round at TPC Southwind, the PGA Tour confirmed that Scheffler would go with his stand-in caddie Brad Payne. Scott had to unexpectedly head home to Louisiana for a family emergency.

Though switching up a caddie is an obstacle for any golfer, Scheffler has been in this position before. Payne filled in for Scott at the final round of the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla. But at least then, Scheffler knew Scott would be gone to attend a graduation.
Payne works as a chaplain to several golfer and is one of Scheffler’s close friends.
