The Hope College women’s golf team capped off the second day of the Calvin/Hope Kickoff Challenge with a 13-stroke victory over rival Calvin University.
Play concluded at Clearbrook Golf Club in Saugatuck, Michigan on Saturday with the Flying Dutch A team posting a team score of 335 and a first-place, 36-hole total of 664.
Senior Caydee Constant (Grand Gaven, Michigan / Grand Haven HS) and freshman Anelise Gatti (Brighton, Michigan / Brighton) paced the lineup with a second-round 80 to finish tied for first overall.
Junior Allyson Zuidema (Northville, Michigan / Northville) placed fourth with an 83, followed by junior Rachael Jones (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City) in sixth at 85.
Senior Sara Muir (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) tied for seventh with an 87, while junior Jaiden Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Carlisle) tied for 13th at 91 to round out the A squad’s scoring.
Hope’s depth was equally on display as the Flying Dutch B team finished with a score of 688 through 36-holes, led by Constant.
Freshman Kennedy Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) and junior Kylie Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) both tied for ninth after shooting 88s, freshman Gabriella Hanover (Mason, Michigan / Mason) tied for 13th at 91, and senior Hannah Finch (Dexter, Michigan / Dexter) took 20th with a 100.
Hope heads back out on the links on Friday, Sept. 5-6, for The University of Olivet’s Kyle Campbell Memorial Tournament at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Michigan.
