— Chelsea rival Liverpool for
potential 100m transfer Chelsea have reportedly joined Liverpool
and other major clubs in the race for the potential transfer of Crystal Palace
central midfielder Adam Wharton. CaughtOffside reported this morning
that Wharton is expected to cost as much as 100m as he attracts interest from
Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid. Manchester United and Tottenham were
also mentioned to us by sources, though we were given the distinct
impression that the strongest interest was coming from Liverpool, City and Real.
Now Ben Jacobs has added Chelsea s name into the mix with a post on X this afternoon about Wharton
s future, suggesting that a late move this summer would perhaps be unlikely, and tough to get done
Chelsea have added Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton to their list of
long-term targets, Jacobs said. Tough deal to do before Monday, and nothing yet to
suggest anything is advancing, as Palace plan to keep hold of Wharton for at least another year.
Wharton has shown himself to be a hugely exciting young talent at Palace, displaying great
intelligence and quality on the ball. Chelsea would undoubtedly do well to add the
20-year-old to their already impressive roster of the best young talents in world football.
Still, one imagines the likes of Liverpool and City might be viewed as a better bet for Wharton
if he wants to be competing for the biggest trophies every season.
— Garnacho bleaches his hair for Chelsea unveiling
Alejandro Garnacho has bleached his hair ahead of his move to Chelsea from Manchester United.
In a video posted by Liv Mathis on TikTok, the 21-year-old can be seen getting a new haircut.
On Thursday night, Chelsea finally agreed a deal for Garnacho, with United set to
receive their largest ever fee for an academy graduate. The clubs have agreed a
40million deal, with Garnacho set to undergo a medical before signing a long-term contract.
Chelsea initially wanted to pay 25million for the winger, with United wanting to receive
50million. Eventually, a deal was agreed for 40million, with a 10 per cent sell-on
fee included for any future transfer. Garnacho had been frozen out at United having
not been part of Ruben Amorim’s plans for this season. He signed from Atletico Madrid as a
youth player in October 2020 and went on to make 144 senior appearances for United, while
he scored 26 goals and provided 22 assists. Garnacho won the FA Cup with
United in the 2023-24 campaign and the League Cup in the previous season.
In May Garnacho expressed his frustration at only being brought on as a late substitute by Amorim in
United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham. Chelsea have again been heavily active
in the transfer market this summer, with arrivals including Liam Delap, Joao Pedro,
Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato and Estevao. —
Bayern wants second Chelsea attacker in addition to Nicolas Jackson
Bayern Munich and Chelsea are seeing their summer linked ever more closely.
The German giants have been strongly connected with a move for Chelsea
s Nicolas Jackson in recent days, with various reports from some of the continent
s top insiders claiming the two sides are working towards a loan with a generous associated fee
and an obligation to buy at the end of it. But that s not all Florian Plettenberg has
just dropped in with a new update about a Chelsea player that Bayern are interested
in signing in addition to Jackson. Sky Germany s Plettenberg says that Bayern are
looking for left sided options and have their eyes on Tyrique George. The young winger has
been linked with both permanent and loan moves away already, with Roma and RB Leipzig both
strongly linked at times. As a youth product, he doesn t count towards our foreign loan totals.
The issue would be with Bayern Plettenberg says a loan for George would not be possible if Jackson
also arrives on loan. They would then be forced to sign the 19 year old, which may not be possible
given the costly package that he mentions. Overall, it looks unlikely that both of these
moves happen. Right now Jackson looks likely to complete that loan move, and that apparently
rules out a loan for George. He s just a higher priority move for both clubs. George has
enough other interest to get a move either way. Many Chelsea fans would rather see the
academy product kept at Stamford Bridge, but it seems like his fate is already decided and
he will be sacrificed to the gods of the balance sheet -what a pity.
— Chelsea issue Cole Palmer update
Chelsea face local rivals Fulham on Saturday afternoon at Stamford Bridge. However,
the Blues have confirmed that they will be without three first-team players, including Cole Palmer.
The Blues host Fulham this weekend in the Premier League for their final match before the
first international break of the season. If Enzo Maresca s side win tomorrow s early
kick-off, they will temporarily climb to the top of the league table. It would consolidate a
strong start to the campaign for Chelsea if they earn three points in the West London derby.
The biggest worry at Chelsea has been around the fitness of Cole Palmer.
He was unable to play in last week s 5-1 away win at West Ham because
of a problem in his groin. Thankfully, the results of Palmer s injury scan showed this
week the problem is not as bad as first thought. Unfortunately, the league showdown
with Fulham will come too soon, plus he s been left out of England s squad by
Thomas Tuchel for the upcoming internationals. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Blues
head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed that Palmer, Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiashile won t play
against Fulham this weekend due to injury. Cole is out. Also, Benoit is out, and Romeo
is out. The rest are all okay, Maresca said, as quoted by Chelsea s official website.
Cole we need to see day by day, and the other two I don t think are going to be
back after the international break. But they are going to be closer.
Lavia, 21, and Badiashile, 24, are still yet to play this season as they recover
from their respective injuries. It s frustrating to hear that they both may need even more
time after the international break, too. Maresca previously claimed Lavia makes Chelsea
better when he s on the football pitch, but the reality is that the central
midfielder can t keep himself fit. —
Chelsea won’t face Fermin Lopez competition Barcelona star Fermin Lopez is the focus of the
news cycle in Catalonia, with significant interest in a move for him from the Premier League. There
has also been a suggestion that Bayern Munich could get involved in the race for his signature.
That race appears to have Chelsea at its forefront. The Blues opened talks
with Lopez s camp earlier this week, and have now made contact with Barcelona over a
move. There are conflicting reports on whether they have made any offers, and how much they are
willing to pay for him, but the latest is that Barcelona have raised their asking price to 90m.
Over the last 24 hours, reports have emerged over potential competition for Lopez. One of which
being Bayern Munich, but Bayern Insider reports that the Bavarian giants are not moving for
Fermin. They do hold an interest in him, but have not received approval from their advisory
board. On the other hand, it was reported on Thursday that Newcastle United are reportedly
willing to outbid Chelsea for the 22-year-old. Meanwhile MD report that Lopez has now spoken to
Chelsea and manager Enzo Maresca. The reporting all week has been that Lopez is considering their
offer, while Chelsea have increased their efforts to sign him despite their 48-hour deadline that
they gave him to decide on a move passing without one. The Catalan daily say that thus far Lopez has
remained firm on his desire to stay Barcelona. In addition to the purely sporting arguments,
there are those in Barcelona that would be in favour of a sale to resolve their persistent
salary limit issues, but Hansi Flick and Director of Football Deco are against the idea they feel
losing Lopez would be a mistake. Chelsea are supposedly willing to offer him a starting
role and to more than double his salary. —
