Self taught swing vs. post lesson swing. Thoughts?

Well the first thing I noticed is you are not bending over enough and standing up too straight at address. You want your spine angle around 35 degrees.

But remember you want your arms to hang down not be reaching out for the ball. Just check out some professionals at how they stand at the ball with the driver and compare to your video

Your weight is almost exclusively on your back foot post impact in both swings. If you’re not making a weight shift your irons will really struggle

Uh if the 2nd video is your swing after your lesson, please seek a refund. It’s all arms, no hip rotation, no weight transfer. If it is the first video, work on your hip rotation first

Did they specifically tell you not to rotate your body in that lesson?

They both kind of look like you have a broom stick shoved directly from your asshole to your throat.

Try to stand like a baseball infielder in their ready position. Bend from the hips, try to stay bent, turn your back to the target and hit the fucker like you’re skipping a stone on the water. It’s just a stick and a ball. Stay athletic and hit it.

  6. No, it looks worse. Did a pro really teach you to swing the club up above your head??

A driving range with water? How do they get the balls back?

Whoever taught that second swing should give you a refund.

Who tf gave you a lesson? Stop going to them

Ok. You took a lesson and your grip wasn’t addressed. I’ve been teaching for a long time and I’m not changing a swing with no correct fundamentals.

Bad grip equals a bad set and a bad release and an equally bad swing is then self created to cancel that out and then every shot possibly exists.

You were actually kind of on plane before. You needed a first lesson, not a swing change.

If you want to know how important a good grip is to just about everything else? Go try to throw a baseball hard holding it between your pinky and thumb and not the correct way. It’s the base for all sports where you hold a ball or swing a thing to hit a ball.

I don’t think you guys are thinking about the depths an instructor would have to dig to even start to unfuck that swing.
It would probably be easier to burn it all down and ask this dude to forget any thoughts he’s ever had about the game of golf before he starts from scratch.
No offence meant to OP you don’t know what you don’t know and everyone starts somewhere.
I don’t know what progress some of you are expecting after potentially a half hour lesson, OP never stipulated it was from a professional coach and even if it was that’s a huge task he’s got ahead of him.

The first swing was better. The second swing was all arms which isn’t going to be that consistent. You look strong and with the proper swing mechanics you are going to be launching that ball. Keep at it bro

  13. The leg flip afterthought looks like “oh yeah this is how golfers look when they swing, so I will do it”
