The Committee for the Upliftment of the Mentally Ill (CUMI) Foundation has received a major boost ahead of its annual charity golf tournament, with Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB) committing an increased sponsorship of $2 million for this year’s staging.
Set to take place on September 6 at the Tryall Golf Course in Sandy Bay, Hanover, the event will feature a maximum field of 80 golfers in what will be the fifth edition of the tournament.
The charity event, played in a two-person scramble format, serves as the primary fundraiser for the CUMI Shelter in Montego Bay, which provides essential support and services to individuals living with mental health challenges.
Among those confirmed to compete are defending champions Carlyle Hudson and Peter Chin, who will be aiming to retain their title.
Golfers will also have the chance to walk away with some attractive prizes. Chief among them is an EQE-350-Plus Mercedes-Benz SUV valued at over $20 million, courtesy of Stewart’s Automotive Group, for anyone who sinks a hole-in-one on the 10th hole.
There will also be a $50,000 cash prize for the player nearest to the pin on the fourth hole, along with several other exciting rewards.
