Ian Poulter has admitted he battled through injury for much of the 2025 LIIV golf season, narrowly avoiding relegation in dramatic fashion. The Englishman secured his spot in the Breakaway League by the thinnest of margins, finishing tied for 17th in Indianapolis on the final day of the campaign, just enough to stay safe. While Poulter survived, his MStick’s co- captain Henrik Stinson wasn’t as fortunate. The Swede was relegated alongside Meo Pereira, Andy Ogulry, Eubin Jen, Anthony Kim, and Frederick Jetrop. For Pter, it was far from a vintage year. Reflecting on his struggles, the RDER Cup veteran revealed he had been carrying an undisclosed injury all season long. “Reflecting back on my 26th consecutive season on tour, and “This one was not easy,” he wrote to his fans on Instagram. I had an injury that I didn’t tell you guys about, but we fought through it. It’s had laughter. It’s had tears. It’s had the utmost stress. Most importantly, I have taken incredible strength from the people who have supported me and keep supporting me. You’ve given me the reason to keep working so hard. This game never ceases to amaze me time and time again. The will to win and improve won’t ever stop. I love this game and I love playing in front of you guys. Not sure I will ever be ready to hang up the boots. The dream continues and the dream is real. Never let anyone get in the way of those dreams. So many incredible things to look forward to for us all. Let 2026 preparations begin. That preparation will now involve rebuilding the Mageix team as Stinson’s departure leaves a vacancy alongside Poulter. The 2016 Open champion will still have one final opportunity to reclaim his place in LIIV with the league’s highstakes promotions event scheduled for later this winter.
