Verona, NY – The La Salle University men’s golf team will kick off their fall slate at the Red Bandanna Invitational tomorrow at Kaluhyat Golf Course at Turning Stone Resort. The Explorers competed in the same event last season, that saw then-junior Benjamin Battye finish in a tie for 6th place with a score of +3 through three rounds of golf. As a team, La Salle finished 6th as well.
Three returners will be making their season debut tomorrow in Verona: senior Benjamin Battye, junior Gavin Dosch, and sophomore Payton Hawke. With senior Armand Loscalzo sitting this tournament out, Battye is the only Explorer to participate in back-to-back years.
The Explorers return only four golfers from last year’s team, but managed to replenish with experience, netting transfers Jackson Debusschere from Cornell and Alex Yong from Saint Francis. Debusschere will make his debut this weekend, alongside fellow newcomers Kyle Virsik and Collin Ferrick, each of who played their high school golf in North Carolina. Local product Declan McLane, also a freshman, rounds out the Explorers’ 2025 roster.
Alongside ten other competing schools, the Explorers will play 54 holes between Sunday and Monday at the 7105 yard par 72 course. Follow along using the stats link on the schedule page or on Instagram @lasallemgolf.
