Sheffller rallied from four back overnight to win out by two shots in the end and once again underlined his position as the world’s best player. Scotty Sheffller won his fifth PGA Tour event of the season and 18th overall as he pipped Robert McIntyre to the BMW championship. For Sheffller, it was just a typical day at the office as McIntyre made mistakes early on while he simply went about his business with minimal errors just like Sheffller did at the players in 2024. It was a superb comeback victory and sent yet another message to the rest of the PGA Tour that he is very much the best around right now. Nevertheless, and in what is another admirable facet to his personality, Sheffller still found time to be gracious in victory and towards McIntyre. Seeing Scotty Sheffller in full flow like this and make a sick shot swing on McIntyre was quite mesmerizing. At times, Sheffller play shots that are so good that it almost scramles the brain. Not to mention his consistency is better than anyone else’s. Still, what is just as admirable is his way of not getting over excited and speaking after mopping up on 18 to win. Sheffller was full of gratitude. I think it definitely played more difficult this week than it did a few years ago. Greens definitely had a lot of pitch to them. Yeah, the golf course changed significantly. I think they tried to make it more difficult, which obviously I think the winning score this year was much different than it was a few years ago, and I think they accomplished their mission in that sense,” Sheffller said when speaking to the media. Asked about his spectacular chip on 17, Sheffller explained his thought process. “I knew it was an important shot in the golf tournament. Bob made a nice birdie there on 16, and I knew it was going to be a battle all the way until the end.” Starting the day four shots back, Bob made some mistakes early in the round, but I knew he wasn’t going to make many more as the day went on. He did a good job of battling all day without his best stuff.
