The marker at U.S. Open shared what playing Oakmont is really like.

How do you prepare, I guess, in the leadup to this tournament? I don’t know if I should say this, but I I did sneak to the back of the range yesterday and the day before, and I hit about 30 balls each day, which just kind of makes a club not feel totally foreign. Um, just trying to find the center of the face and get it somewhere out there and play. There’s been a lot of people wondering, “Oh, what would a 15 handicap shoot from these TE’s in tournament conditions?” Um, a lot. A lot. Uh to give you an idea, I I had someone asked me yesterday, “If you play, what would you be?” I said, “Hey, if I shoot, you know, in the low 80s, I’ i’d be happy, which is probably close to what what I shot. I don’t I don’t even know. You’re not really thinking about it out there.” And by the way, like the element of terms of playing around people is for someone that hasn’t done that, that’s like that’s as much of it as anything until you get comfortable with that. So, what do you make of the way the golf course has played the last couple days? go into the weekend with three under leading. I think everyone’s pretty thrilled with that. Um I’m sure the scores will go lower today just given how soft it is. Um but we’ll see. I think I I was surprised by the greens certainly weren’t firm, but they were firmer than I thought they would be after that rain last night. And they were f they were fast this morning. Get you got a nice little uh applause coming up 18 there. That must have felt pretty good. Yeah, it was awesome. Really cool. Love it. Thanks.

  1. I know a guy who did the Golf Digest “what would you shoot” at Torrey Pines under US Open conditions. He said only one of the 5 finalists broke 100. 14.5 stimp greens, 5 inch Kikuya rough. All that and people all around.
