#ping #g430 #golf
Welcome back to Bogey Book. Today we’re going to be doing a full review on the Ping G430 set. Our set starts from a putter. Then we have the irons going from a 50 wedge to a sixiron. We have the hybrid, we have the 3-wood, and we even have the G430 driver in the set. Their main value is that they are supposedly forgiving, but for a relatively decent price in the big round segment. We’re going to start off by hitting some shots on the Trackman. do the wedges, irons, the big clubs here in the beautiful Picial Edgolf Resort. You can fit your clubs if you ever come to Sicily. They have pings and the tailormaides, the newest ones of course. And after that, we’re going to play a hole indeed and give our honest thoughts. I’m going to start off with the 50 wedge. Each of us are going to hit three shots with the 50 wedge. Then we’re going to move on to the 7R and then the rest of the clubs. The main thing here that I want to see from my wedge is a spin rate below 10K and uh pretty good consistency. I guess this one’s going to be below 10K. I would say like around 9K would be ideal. and distance. Of course, I need to hit it at least 110. Yep. That felt nice. It was so quiet though. It was really quiet. Well, it passed that 115 mark. Look at the spin rate. That’s really low for me. And it felt good. I’ll tell you that it didn’t feel as much as a wedge as it did an iron. It had like the more pitching wedge vibe. Oo, they’re sounding like irons. 118. Oh, horrible. Higher spin rate though. But I’m starting to like this thing. That one wasn’t as pure on the face, but still a little club to 118. 119 straight down the middle. What the Hey, feeling good with this thing. Hit it. Let me know what you think. But I kind of like it. Well, well, well. Arville smashed it down the middle. Look at that line. Yeah, literally every shot I hit these things high. 81. Oh my god, that’s not good. I should hit this about 100. Okay, let’s see if we can get it then. Spin rate’s kind of high. Let’s see. Let’s see. Yeah, you almost got it to 10K. Speaking about 10K. Oh my god. On the road to 10K subscribers. And if we do hit 10K subscribers, we’re going to America, finding Grand Horvat, and making him scream bogey, just like we did with Bryson. That should be it. Is it? Uh, kind of close. But look at the shot. The line’s so good, though. Kind of like this one. But I get what you think about the feeling like a pitching wedge. Like 96, like 88. Yeah, the previous shot was my best shot. They feel kind of bulky and it’s got that iron feel, so I don’t know if I’m a big fan of that, but I really want to hit the 7R and I want to see you do it. Well, 7R, I’m pretty excited for this thing. My prediction is that I should hit it 180. And if I could hit it consistently and not get it out the park or slice it, that’s a big win for me. Put it a bit back in the stance so we get that draw. Oh, we definitely got the draw. That’s a hook. Come on, boy. Is it? Yeah, it is. 184. You got the 180, though. I got the 184, but it’s not It’s It could be worse. I got to release my hands a bit more, but it felt pure. Hey, dead center, baby. Come back. It kind of came back. A little pushy, but not that bad. I like it. You’re consistent with the 180s. That shot felt good, though. Little weight shift on this one. I don’t know that’s going to be right. All right, look at that. Instantly at 170, but not that big of a distance drop off. Feels pretty good. But the weird thing is the wedge feels kind of similar to an iron. I don’t I don’t know how to explain it. I know it’s a diabolical claim. Honestly, it is like that. Let’s see if Mr. Consistency can be more consistent than me with the seven irons. Well, not with that swing. Something I don’t know what. I think you got to do the minouy swing. That’s I’m going to fix everything. Or maybe this one. Oh, no. Not the not that one. I don’t think that’s going to fix it. You know the name of it? I know the name of it. I’m not going to say it here. Hit it pure. That felt pure, but there’s no way. It’s still way. Okay. Uh I’m I’m just ignoring that fact. Oh no. But he chunked it. The hook. I mean, this always happens in a review. Dead straight. How was that dead straight? It’s like my brother. Why do you go straight? And the fun funny thing is you almost hit it as far as you hit your slice there. You hit the slice 160s. This one’s 153. I mean, I’d take this any day. That’s for sure. That’s pure. I’m just going to go right. Right. Yeah, right. So, I’m consistent with this 160. That’s relatively the same as my main set. So, distance-wise, currently it’s not giving more distance, but the feel is really nice. Do you feel it’s forgiving or no? Honestly, I don’t get it yet. Kind of like it’s on the line. It’s on the line. But let’s move on. I want to see you hit the hybrid. Oh yes. Give me that thing. Please, my brother. I love the design of the hybrid. By the way, this is unboxing a little. Yep. Look at that. Good thing you’re hitting the hybrid because I hate hybrids. Yeah, I know that. I’m a hybrid lover. I’ve had a hybrid in my set for like I would say almost 6 years, if not more. I’m always looking for the next hybrid to put in my bag. So, let’s see if this might be it. Sounds spirit. It was, but it went right for some reason. 224 cut across it a little bit, but the feeling the feeling is what mattered there. I’m going to straighten that out. It’s low now. Should be low, but a little 244 with the hybrid. It went left. low screamer, but both of them dead center in the face. Oh, the little toppy toppy. Hey, 154 topper. That’s probably user error. It feels very similar to my Tailor Made M6 hybrid, which is a reason why I actually really like this thing. Distance-wise, I feel like it might go a little bit longer. It’s a solid choice. I don’t got much to say about it. Moving on to the wood. This is a 3wood. Look at this beauty. I like this. I like this design. Oh, it’s got that matching shaft as well. Look at this. The L to CB shaft. Green on green kind of bogey vibe. That’s what I like to see. My predictions are 240. That’s what I hit with my regular. Oh, that’s right, buddy. That’s four. The 185. The club face was open so much. Let’s lock in and hit a straight one. That sounded amazing. Sounded good. Oh my god. Pushing it to the right. Oh, that should be dead center. Come on. There’s no way. No. I smell cap. Honestly, despite the shots, this feels good. And it actually feels very similar to my main set. I got the Callaway Maverick Wood and it’s literally the same thing. I would love to play this on the course and test it out and compare them two, but feels wise, this feels good. We got to do the big boy. Oh, let’s the driver. So excited for that one. This thing in the hand, the design looks so cool. The slots on here. That’s interesting. I’ve never seen that on a driver before. I’m interested in the feel and the sound. That’s the main thing for my driver. And of course, distance. It’s going to be a little screamer. You hit it like your hybrid. It was just a horrible shot. I think I might need to tee it up a little higher. I’m going to try that. Like a little higher tea. The loft’s insane in that. 10.5 and you’re teeing up that high. What? That’s crazy. Look at this, bro. Trust me, this is going to be better. Oh, yeah. Well, that’s going to be right, but that’s going to fly at least. That’s not better. That’s interesting. I’m not going to put this on the driver. I feel like my swing’s a bit off at the moment, but I’m just going to try to dial this one in and hit a draw for the last one so I can actually say something about it. Well, that should be at least straight. Relatively straight. I don’t feel like I really caught those shots pretty well. Obviously, if we look at the data, it goes shorter. I hit my average drives about 270 280 somewhere around there. Feels wise, it’s really good. I can’t really speak on the forgiveness because, well, you’re seeing the shots that I’m hitting here. I think it’s decent when you got your shot relatively dialed in, but I want to see Mr. Consistency hit it and see what he does with it. So, please, I don’t have the Mr. consistency today. I’m playing a butter cut this year, but on the sim, it looks like I’m slicing that ball every time. It’s like my brother. But this looks insane. It looks really good in the hand. That’s the first thing I noticed. Yeah. And the fact that it’s so high up here. How do you expect me to play that? The tea. You don’t have to play my T, my brother. I’m the guy who plays like a eight loft. Just to put that in perspective. How do you even get it up from a T like that with an eight loft? I don’t know. But you know, I hit it high. I know. I don’t get it. If I hit it like that, I’m hitting a stinger. You know what I can do? I don’t know what you could do. I can uh deloft it. Don’t deloft it. Okay. Okay. Try the 10.5. I guarantee it’s not going to be that high. Felt good. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Of course. I think something’s not right. Our swings are geeked at the moment. Geek is We’ve been playing golf for like 10 hours now. So, at this point, Yeah. A little pause. Oh, be straight. There’s no way. There’s no way. I’mma do the high tea just for the memes, you know. Hopefully I don’t hit there. That’s good. Right side, buddy. I like that it’s 233. The feel of the driver is what I would call like a regular standard kind of feel. It’s not bad and it’s not the best. I can definitely hit some good shots with this if I lock it in. Looks wise, it’s really, really nice. And it’s got that really easy pop off the face. I really like that. And it feels good. You want to do a long drive? I want to do a long drive. Let’s get to it. One ball each. Yeah, let’s do one ball each. Come on. It’s high stakes, high pressure. What do we do if none of us hit the grid? Then two balls each cooked. A little pre-click. You guys already know. Let’s write the pre-click. That was That was the best one today. It was the It was like an eight in pre-click turns. And you’re going first, my guy. But the rule is you can’t tap it and hit it 30 m so it’s on the grid. You have to blast it. Don’t Don’t do any of that stuff. Almost dropping the driver. Hit this joint out the park. Oh my god. I’m going to edit that clip. If you actually hit it out the park, I’m probably going to hit it out the park. Guess what side? The right side. Of course. There’s no other way. All right, my boy. Good luck. It’s like Ferrari on my hand. No less of nine. No, it’s right. Oh, maybe not that right. No, it’s not that bad. Oh my god. Of course. And you’re going to do the tap, right? Oh, no. I’m not going to do the tap. We just set the rule that I can’t tap it. Okay. 250. Good luck. Thank you. You got to smash it. Oh, I will. Believe me. I just love how your shot. It was literally going dead straight and then it took a little It’s like the trackman hates me. Okay, I’m going to hit it over the top to make sure that I don’t slice it. Got to loosen up. Oh, baby. I mean, yeah. What can I do? I’m out off the grid as well. It’s It’s not very long though, is it? Like it’s like 15 m longer than mine. I’m speaking about driver in general cuz I usually hit my driver 280 and I was crunching this thing. barely pushed to 65 and 280 is like comfort distance. So, I don’t know. With that being said, let’s move on to play hole. Random course on the left side and it’s gonna be this Hong Kong. I’ve been to Hong Kong, you know. What’s your experience there? I had a layover there. Oh. Well, then you you don’t really have an experience in Hong Kong. I had an overnight experience there. Just 9 hours in the airport. All right. All right. Who do you think is going to go first? Oh, it’s a play hole, so it’s me. It’s It’s you. And if it’s not a par4, you still have to play the driver. Okay. Okay. This is actually the hardest hole. It looks so similar to this course with the the hills. That’s really interesting. Kind of the same arms, but looks so good. What do the tea boxes look almost the same on every Pro course? They’re all like perfectly square. Yeah. And nothing else. Good luck, man. Good luck. 428 m five. Baby, it’s going to come back. It’s going to pull a little 90 maneuver. It’s not moving. What? It’s not what, bro? Come on. Are you kidding? Just a little straight drive. A little fade will work, too. But nothing more than a little one, preferably. A little low screamer. Holy crap. It’s just a little layup. That’s completely fine. That’s up to code. Uh, we got just 300 left to the fin. I’m just going to take my little wood here. Nothing’s lost from distances like these. Realistically, you just hit one shot and then you get it on the green. Bogey is the worst case scenario. Unless you hit it for right. Oh my god. But listen. All right. It’s going to bounce off of that tree. And now I have a good approach shot into the green. This looks tough. Also, you got a tree right in front. I just got to get it out there on the fairway. I’m going to take the pitching wedge, which is the W wedge. Shout out to Jake Paul. your normal hitting layups. Casual day for the boys. Perfect. I love it how it goes straight now. Yeah, cuz you’re playing a course. 116. The trees are in front, which I do not like. Look at the wind inside. Sorry, but look. Holy. It’s a beautiful course though. Beautiful day. Let’s get back to the Let’s get back to it. I’m going to take the Wedge and I’m going to hit a fade on there. It’s clean hit and it still catches the tree. Little 77 meter shots at the pin. I think I’m going to get this right next to the hole. I’m going to do the smart thing and put it on the left side. That’s left. There’s no way. Does it turn? Where’s my slice? Well, that’s pretty ideal. A lot of backspin. That’s cool. I got the little 76 m shot to the hole. Let’s try to get it. Oh, don’t catch the tree. Flew over. Just barely on the green. That’s diabolical. We’re pulling out the putter. This is not the G430, but it’s a pain. Both have putts, right? Yes, we do. So, that’s nice. I mean, you have a one shot advantage, so realistically, I have to make mine if you don’t make yours. Is that nine? Well, it’s in. I’ll take the gimme. Oh, that’s good. I’m happy. So, now I have to finish it. This looks like a slight right to left. Oh, well, it didn’t go. Got the gimme, though. It was a good game. Solid competition. One on the day. But with that, let’s move on to our final thoughts. Welcome to the final thoughts. So, we’re going to run through the whole set. We’re going to start off with the wedges. I like the wedges for their distance, but the interesting thing about it is is that they don’t really feel like wedges. Yeah, they feel like you’re hitting a nine iron, which is not necessarily bad when you’re hitting long shots. It’s actually easier to hit long shots, but around the greens for me, they just don’t feel as workable. Yeah, they feel sketchy. Yeah, they do. But other than that little negative thing, I think the wedges overall are pretty solid. But I want to know what you think about the orange, Carl. We were expecting more forgiveness and distance. Our expectations were really high, but honestly, the things mentioned on the website didn’t fully match with the real life performance. But overall, they’re solid irons for a decent price, which will improve your game a little bit. But speaking on the hybrid, I really like the hybrid. I’m a hybrid guy, and it feels super similar to my Tailor Made M6 with the sound, with the feel, and everything. Distance was crazy with it. I hit a 245. I usually hit my hybrid about 220. Is it much more forgiving than a regular hybrid? Well, eh, I don’t really know. I would have to test it a bit more, but off the initial feels, it’s just as forgiving as other brands. Hybrids will be more or less. I want to know what you think about the wood. It’s like the sandwich with your hybrid. The distance on this baby is kind of shorter. It’s not that much, like 5 10 m. The design is really cool. It matches the hybrid and the driver. And I would actually consider putting this thing in my bag or my secondary bag. What about the driver? I like the driver overall in terms of the visual, the sound, the feel. Everything for the driver is great. Consistency is pretty decent as well. But my main issue is the distance. It goes like 20 m shorter than my regular driver. I’m not sure if that’s my swing today or if there are some other external factors affecting it. But that’s really the biggest and honestly most unexpected thing that caught me off guard with the Ping G430. Was there anything different in your experience? Maybe nothing different. But overall, I think this set is kind of worth the money. I would give the set a seven out of 10. Yeah, I would really agree with you on that seven there because it’s a solid set. You can play it. It is kind of game improvement. It is forgiving. It is nice. But if you’re looking for the whole shebang that will make you go like every time you hit the shop, this is most likely not going to be that. The main way to describe this set is a very solid choice for a really good price. But with that being said, boys, hopefully you guys enjoy this video.
