Can anyone let me know if these would make a good starter set? I already have a bag. 45 year old male. Just starting out. Played maybe 3 different courses and been to the range a hand full of times. Average about 100mph swing.

I have had this exact set for 2 season now. I probably golf 15-20 times a year and have a similar swing speed. I love it, however I upgraded from a set of Dunlop blades from the early 90s so the difference was very noticeable.

Also callaway and costco both offer great support as far as returning if you have any issues. I think it is a great starter set.

  2. Great for your situation. The only thing you’re gonna be working on is contact. Stiff is good choice for you.

Bought them last month. Great set from what I was using before. Guess the putter is almost $200. Even if you decide to upgrade in a yr or 2 you won’t break the bank with these.

  4. Bought this set for my wife and kid. They both now can enjoy playing. Super easy to hit with.

Just buy a few club paks from GolfWorks instead. Much higher quality and will stay with you longer. Unless you really care about resale in the future (which the edge set doesn’t have much of).

Check callaway preowned you could piece together a better set it has like new stuff with plastic still on

It’s a great set. The driver and 3 wood are playable, but would be the first to get replaced. You probably also want a gap wedge and a lob wedge eventually.

Yes they are a great starter set. I have them too. In time you’ll want to get a GW and a LW/ replace wedges, and add two more long clubs (I added a 5W and 4H). People say the driver will need replacing but it’s as forgiving as you’ll buy without spending a lot, so don’t bother until you’ve mastered it. Putter is super good for the price. And for some reason the 5H is so nice to hit

Just get ping eye 2 irons, a putter, and a used Driver and hybrid.

It’s what I did. Had it for two years and then upgraded every part slowly over time after lessons and fittings.

Once you get a bit more comfortable with it I’d recommend binning the 3 wood for something easier to hit like a 5 wood or hybrid

A year in with mine at roughly 12 rounds played and no real complaints. At your swing speed, stiff flex should suit you just fine. I have recently added the Kirkland wedge set (replaced the Edge sand wedge) and those are now my favorite part of the bag. Once I find a little more consistency in my swing, I’ll probably replace the driver first. Something about it doesn’t sit right with me mentally, maybe the way it sounds at impact, quite tinny.
