Top-ranked junior golfers Miles Russell and Tyler Mawhinney will play in consecutive groups at the American Junior Golf Association Junior Players Championship.The tournament will be held at TPC Sawgrass’s Stadium Course from August 29-31.Charlie Woods, son of Tiger Woods, will also participate in the tournament.
Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach and Tyler Mawhinney of Fleming Island, the First Coast’s two nationally ranked junior golfers, will tee off in back-to-back groups in the first two rounds of the American Junior Golf Association Junior Players Championship Aug. 29-30 at the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass.
Russell, the 2023 Junior Players champion and the No. 1 player on the AJGA Rolex Rankings, will start at 9 a.m. on Aug. 29 at the Stadium Course first tee. He will play with defending champion Hamilton Coleman of Augusta, Ga., and Giuseppe Publa of Royal Palm Beach, who respectively are the Nos. 2 and 3 AJGA players.
Mawhinney, ranked seventh by the AJGA, plays with Jessy Huebner of Port St. Lucie and Lunden Esterline of Andover, Kan., at 9:10 a.m. off No. 1. Esterline won the Junior PGA on Aug. 1, with Mawhinney tying for second.
Russell’s group starts at No. 10 in the second round on Aug. 30 at 10 a.m, with Mawhinney’s group going off t 10:10 a.m.
When does Charlie Woods tee off?
Charlie Woods, the son of two-time Players champion Tiger Woods, will start at 9:20 a.m. at No. 1 in the first round at No. 1. He will be in the first group off No. 10 in the second round, beginning at 8:10 a.m.
Tee times will be grouped by score for the final round on Aug. 31.
