DURHAM, N.C. – Golfweek has released its preseason top-30 national rankings with Duke women’s golf coming in at No. 6, as Blue Devil head coach Dan Brooks enters his 42nd season in Durham.

The Blue Devils have been recognized in the top 10 of the preseason Golfweek ledger a total of 22 out of the last 27 seasons under the direction of Brooks.

Stanford enters the season at No. 1, while Oregon (No. 2), Texas (No. 3), Southern California (No. 4), Arizona State (No. 5), Duke (No. 6), Texas A&M (No. 7), LSU (No. 8), Northwestern (No. 9) and Arkansas (No. 10) round out the top 10 teams.

Duke returns four starters from a season ago – graduate Andie Smith, junior Katie Li, sophomore Anna Cañado Espinal and sophomore Carla De Troia – and welcomes the No. 1 ranked class with the addition of Rianne Malixi and Avery McCrery.  The Blue Devils also welcome back sophomore Martina Yu.

Smith, Li and Cañado Espinal have all won individual tournament titles over their Duke careers.

Duke’s freshman class of Malixi and McCrery have impressive resumes that include three USGA titles and 15 American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) victories.  The duo has also combined for 47 top-5, 67 top-10 and 79 top-20 finishes on the AJGA.

Malixi was named an ANNIKA Award preseason watch list selection earlier this week for national player of the year.
