  1. No yall were not in wrong! Plus these groups of 5 really piss me off it is ridiculous have to deal with it every course I play!

  2. Play through if you dont want to take a short break. But find the guys in front of you in the clubhouse and ask if they mind.

  3. First off, there is no such thing as a five-some…..5 people shouldn't be playing together in the middle of day on a public golf course. Grabbing food at the turn and taking a piss is not an issue but its typically common for the people behind you to play through if they don't want to stop, especially if it's wide open at the next hole.

  4. The geezers are wrong , and i'm getting close to geezer status. And they should have let a 2 some play thru a 5 some anyway.

  5. I’d play with the old men lol keep pace at a course with no marshal….. relax have some fun young whipper snapper 😂

  6. Nope. 5 guys in a group that are taking too long at the turn can suck it. You are obviously not going to hold them up, and they weren’t ready to play…. So kick rocks old man!

  7. It’s usually the older guys killing pace of play…waiting for them to finish putting before the approach shot…we take our time getting on the green and while putting I can see them just talking at the next tee box with no one in front of them…there’s no way I should be getting off the green and having to wait for their tee shot. They are just completely clueless and I have no problem telling them “pick up your pace, you have everyone backed up at every tee box. I’ll hit into them

  8. 100% old group of men is in the wrong.

    Why?

    1. 5 golfers.
    2. Anytime you’re on a course with essentially no one else, unwritten etiquette would dictate any group faster than you, that is waiting on you; you should let them play through at the earliest convenience.
    3. Common sense.

    4. Just play through the ignorance and push on.

    5. Guys 87 and hasn’t grown up.

  9. I call the clubhouse anytime I see a 5 some.

It’s the only Karen thing I do. I will not tolerate that crap. It’s so slow and ruins everyone’s day.

Given that, you can imagine who’s fault I think it is

  10. Great point! Who would want 2 guys breathing down your neck? I would of let the twosome pass at hole 2

  11. The etiquette is to let faster players play through. Especially when you are a 5sum. Slow play never gets the verdict.

  12. First of all, five guys? Great for a hamburger place, bad for golf. Second, old guys… a twosome smokes that every time. Third, you take 15 min at the turn you should expect the TWOSOME behind you to play thru🤦🏻

  13. A group playing quicker plays through. Simple. Nothing to get mad about. People are annoying

  14. I'm 69 and you were not in the wrong. Go into the clubhouse and you lose your turn. If you really need that hot dog, order it ahead and have the rest of your group go to the 10th tee. Get your dog and run to the 10th tee.

  15. Yeah, if you stop to eat get drinks expect to get jumped to the tee. Thats how it’s been to all the courses I’ve played on. Plus I’m pretty sure the two walking were faster than the 5 in carts

  16. I never wait, if they are in the clubhouse on 10 I will tee off no hesitation

  17. The only thing the younger guys did wrong was wait. They should have immediately teed off. The older generation of golfers need to remember that this isn't the 70's and they don't get to take as much time as they want. The number of people that play golf has more than tripled just in the last five to ten years alone.

  18. Problem was being polite and waiting. If you leave the course and go into the club house, I’m going ahead of you immediately. Especially a bunch of old men playing the senior/women’s tee box. 6 shots a fairway because they are just keeping active, which more power to them, but you aren’t going to turn my 18 into 6 hours if I can at all help it.

  19. Cutting was wrong but I personally think the whole thing would have been eliminated had you just ask them to pass.
That said, they shouldn’t have been playing with 5 either.

  20. I worked as a starter / marshal after 28 years in the Foreign Service working Public Diplomacy and my take is:

The decision to allow a five people to play is a decision the course management apparently made and if that’s the case the group behind needs to grin and bear it unless they are playing unusually slow and two groups are waiting at the tee, in which case the best course action would be to call the pro shop and let them know there’s back-up asking them to send someone out to fix it. Better to let someone in authority tell them to let the group behind play thru. As a starter on the first tee if I saw a two-ball wait behind a foursome and the hole was clear I’d ask the four-ball if it was OK to let the two start ahead of them. Nobody ever said no. If a course isn’t managed with common sense like that I’d just go spend my money somewhere else.

When making the turn and wanting to play through a group that is not at the tee but you can see them the courteous thing to do is to just ask, “We’re a twosome, would to be OK to start the back nine head of you?” Alternatively, call the pro shop and and ask them if it’s OK. Then of the other group gets their kickers in a twist about it you can say, “We called the pro shop to ask permission and it said OK. If that’s a problem for you address it to the pro shop.”

  21. If they are playing at pace with the group up front you have zero right to play through..now if there’s a gap then 100% you should play thru. The number of guys is irrelevant if there’s isn’t a gap in front of them..also I regularly wait 5-10 on the 10th hole so that I’m not waiting on every shot..

  22. Not wrong at all. If they are f’n around in the clubhouse, we move on ahead. Some people just have no golf speed awareness too plus in a 5 some? Child please.

  23. 5some was full of pricks. Shouldn't be in a 5some to begin with. 2some had every right to skip. I wouldn't have been so nice to that guy.

  24. Absolutely fine what the young men did. Respect people’s time and money as well.

  25. Play through. If your spending that much time at the club house you are in no hurry to play, especially with 5 players. What marshall approved that?

  26. pace of play… enough said… im not talking ultra fast either… a little over 4hrs a round is ok with me but when it starts going over 4 1/2 hrs… its getting too long.

  27. Ask them what their a original tee time was. If you’re tee time was in b4 their tee time, then they are behind you.
