  1. Load of nonsense. FJ still the best shoe available, I've got the FJ Tour Alpha with metal spikes. All these spikeless shoes are ok for pensioners in Florida, but all decent golfers need more stability and grip.

  2. Last two pair I've ordered, I had to send back , both had different problems , I have wore footjoys since the beginning haha I'm 74

  3. Always loved footjoy, but bought a pair this year and within 4 holes blisters on my heel, and that’s after a Footjoy fitting never had that in all my years of footjoy now wear Nike and Callaway no problems.

  4. I had no idea they were going under. I've just bought some shoes on eBay for really great prices. They last forever and are the best golf shoes out there.

  5. I've had many FJs over the years, but won't really even give them a look these days. For me too many of them have a weird shaped last with pointy toes. Though they've got better, their more casual shoes looked like Target sneakers.
Some of it's just a function of the market having changed, so many more people are making viable golf shoes, often better priced as well

  6. Looks are subjective… for example I think those Sunday reds are fugly. So people get their choices of different styles by going to different brands (adidas, squares, Nike, whatever) or within a brand that has a lot of different options, which is what FJ does. With FJ I know I can get them in the width I need, I know the waterproofing will be waterproof, and I know I can find something that will be comfortable. The FlexJoy line in particular is unbelievable for walking (i never take a cart unless mandatory). There's just a lot of competition in shoes and clothing, and the turnover is more frequent giving people the opportunity to try other brands – whereas something like irons is a bigger investment and yo are not getting a new set every year. Gloves are another good example — FJ makes great ones , but many makers do. However the FJ rain gloves are head of the pack.

  7. The problem with Acushnet is they do not want to change with the times. All their products are designed for the top 1%. I could not believe when they actually signed a creator (Micah Morris.) All of that is fine, but that is not the game of golf in 2025, and that will be their downfall if they do not change with the times.

One thing i've never understood is why Titleist gloves feel so much more comfortable that FJ gloves??? Someone please explain.

  8. They have lost their joy of comfort…literally $120 for the SL’s, these shoes that really hurt my feet…no more…done with FJ! Skechers way more comfortable!

  9. Swing and a miss with this one. Tiger was wearing FJ shoes when he teed it up in The Masters after his car accident. The brand hasn't meaningfully declined or "fallen."

Their apparel has also always been mediocre, but that's another topic.

  10. did not hit the target when adding younger demo to their capture market. I would love to see another Sun Day Red video because they are owned by TaylorMade sooooooooo technically TaylorMade/Sun Day Red outdoing Acushnet/FJ?

  11. The trend toward a more sneaker-style in golf shoes is the single biggest hit to FJ imo

They will always struggle to compete with larger sport brands who are known for their sneakers in that market. If someone wants a sporty look, they’ll naturally gravitate towards Nike, Adidas, Puma, etc.

  12. As an older golfer I need a lot of comfort; I researched and bought FJ shoes highly rated for this. Indeed the ones I ordered are quite comfortable except that they have a pointy toe which takes away from the room in the front. I don't know why FJ insists on this design, but I will look for better designed shoes (for my fit) next time.

  13. Footjoy sizings are always wierd… compare a footjoy size 13 to an Adidas or G Fore, Nike, etc. Footjoys run large and sloppy

  14. 1. Competition
    2. Bad logo
    3. Only marketed to golfers
    4. Uncomfortable
    5. Younger players and new players are familiar with brands outside of the golf game (Nike, adidas, ect)

  15. In Michigan we have one of the largest Golf stores in the nation. Carls Golfland. I’ve been patronizing them for over 35 years. I always see more customers trying on Footjoy golf shoes than the other brands.

  16. Too many other brands putting out more comfortable shoes at a better price point especially for the wide foot guys. Went with puma over FJ never looked back.

  17. I’m in my late 20s and I used to be a Nike guy from 16-24 then when I tried on FJ I haven’t looked back. FJ traditions are elite.

  18. Saw this video….spotted the Barcelona scarf ……followed @Rolugolf 😂

  19. I've been using FootJoy since 1970. The issue for me is the closure of the plant making their all-leather Professional shoe. I still have one pair but don't wear it unless the weather is perfect because I can't replace it. The fit of the modern FootJoy isn't as precise as those made in the US, at least in my experience. I still buy them (currently have 4 pairs), but they don't fit as well and don't last as long. It's sad … 😞

  20. The quality has gone downhill & the last couple of years their sizes have started to come up small. Probably another cost saving exercise.

  21. Ive had many fj,s down the years, but stopped buying them long ago i dont feel the quality is there for the price point.

  22. Good opinion piece. I'd argue that vokey wedges and Scotty putters aren't really necessarily the best but they are good, a status symbol, have good marketing and people really want/value them. You just cant have that much love and be a fanboy for a stinky shoe to be honest at the end of the day. Clubs have tech, precision manufacturing and R&D but shoes don't (companies say they do but it's just a shoe).
Footjoy shoes for argument sake may be better, but people dont care that much about their shoes anymore.
I literally wear normal Adidas gazelles sometimes when i golf, i never slip.

  23. I was a competitive soccer player growing up. I played golf a lot growing up as well, but I am now coming back to golf after an 11 year break. In soccer, the top three were always Adidas, Nike and Puma. There were some brands like Umbro, Diadora, Lotto and a few more that held some prestige. I was there for the change of traditional Kangaroo and Calf skin leather boots to modern synthetics and lighter weights etc. This happened a lot sooner than in Golf I feel mainly because of the fact that your feet touch the ball all the time. Now we are seeing a return and merge of the old and new in soccer shoes. I feel like with FJ and some other brands being more traditional that are struggling, they will see a resurgence once things level out and the market figures it out.

  24. For the cheaper spikeless market people look to brands they already own such as Nike and Adidas. For the up market people look for exclusivity or trends such as Sunday Red or Gfore. FootJoy is stuck in this no mans land where they can't compete at the bottom and don't have the exclusivity to compete at the top.

  25. I ran to these comments. FJ is still the king. And who is this needle d$$@ that is not even 25 yet. The real ones know, FJ’s are still the champ.

  26. I’ve only been in the golf world for about 4 years, but from the very beginning I’ve naturally gravitated toward Titleist and FootJoy. My entire setup—clubs, bag, shoes, and even the accessories—has always been from them. For me, the brands represent more than just equipment; they embody elegance, loyalty, purpose, and a sense of timeless positioning in the game.
