  1. I have a 3W and a 7W and they are both more reliable than my driver most days. I can also hit both of them over 200 yds if I can hit the center of the club. Great video Liam!

  2. Had a 7 Wood in the bag 25 years ago, and started carrying them again a few years ago, rather than replacing a 3 Iron with a hybrid.

  3. My pal has got a ping 7 wood and it absolutely flies, he even tees off with it because it’s so straight. Going to treat myself

  4. Love me long irons, even down to a 1 for links courses and the wind, but like you Liam, I need a perfect or even a tight lie to use them!
Those sat-down or fluffy lies are a no-no, but the 7 wood makes them look easy-peasey!

  5. I've had a Callaway square head 7 wood since they come on the market it's my Go to club hope i never break it 😢 ❤ it as always

  6. I'm old enough to remember when people said the same things about a 5 wood that are/were often said about a 7. Senior Golfers, beginners, "lady golfers", etc. Then along came Lee Trevino. That ended those comments. 😆

  7. ok. I'm going down to the basement and getting out my XXIO 7 wood. I loved it (just like you love your 7 wood) for about 4 months => but then things went a bit south. You know, the honeymoon phase was over. We will see how it does tomorrow.

  8. Ping G440 SFT 7w in my bag, Project X Denali Red shaft. Returned to the game this season after ~ 17 yrs off. When I went for my fitting in May, I hadn't hit a FW in a good 20-25 years. Topped the first 7w during the fitting and then launched the next dozen or so! I also use it off the tee as I don't even have a driver in the bag .. yet.

  9. Ive been looking for a 7 wood on and off for a while. They seem to be hard to find. Shame that the Ignis fairway woods are not available.

  10. Liam, I am a 2.5 handicap golfer (58 years old). I use cavity back irons because I like the feel and am a "good enough" ball striker. My swing speed with driver is about 105 mph. My longest iron is a 5 iron. It is the longest iron that I can get a steep enough land angle to stop it . I have a 7-wood and a 4-hybrid which I turned up to a 5-hybrid. I won't ever go back, but eventually may add a 9 wood.

  11. Game changers. Hard to find though. I had one shipped from China off Temu (seriously) – was only 50 quid so prepared to take a gamble. Fantastic shipping updates, arrived in France within 10 days exactly as promised, very well packaged, good head cover; sensational stick (I put a new midsize grip on but otherwise was perfect). In 40 years playing I never hit a 200 yard shot so easily and consistently. Was so good I ordered another exactly the same for home in SE Asia.

  12. 17 handicap mostly because I don’t play enough but recently tried mine out a fairway bunker at forest pines fantastic. Everyone should own one helped me with my 3 wood too I believe

  13. I've been using a 7 wood about 30yrs when I was younger it was perfect for 235-240 replaced my 3 iron. Now it goes 215. My friend's call it the magic club

  14. My 7 wood with a 5 iron length shaft is by far my favorite club. It's just so damn easy to hit. Even if I chunk the hell out of it I get a halfway decent shot albeit a little shorter than normal.

  15. I absolutely agree with you! I played off 5 handicap for nearly 30 years and fizzed bladed 1,2 and 3 irons in my day. When I decided to upgrade my golf clubs in my 50s in 2005 I chose a 7 wood to match my new fairway woods and that club was and still is my play anywhere club. In the last couple of months I decided to buy a new TM Qi10 max 7 wood with a senior flex shaft but could not source one in the UK! Using Pete's favourite golf club source I found a supplier in Japan of the very club I wanted and it was approx £50 cheaper than left hand versions in the UK. The club came on the very day predicted at order having flown in via Hong Kong, Dubai and Heathrow, and delivery came via a famous carrier to rural Wales. I then received an import duty bill (bone fide) for £47.50 apparently to standardise prices across the world. My club has 22 degrees loft and works an absolute treat. I will be using it in a EDGA tournament I am playing this week. It is so easy to use and the ball picks up quickly and stops on a sixpence. It is my favourite club in the bag.

  16. I am a traditional person so it is rough going to a bag without the 3 iron, but my next set of clubs will see that change: goodbye 3 iron, welcome 7 wood!

  17. I have a seven in the bag but, don't use it. Will do now. Was my Pa's and I've not tried it.
Alas Liam, I've just look and the Takomo's website says the Ignis is no longer available. Was thinking of buying one having seen you waft shot after shot straight and 200+.

  18. Hey Liam, I have Takomo 101’s plus a Takomo 3 wood and I have been trying for months to get a Takomo 7 wood but they are out of stock..
I’ve been eyeing a XXIO 7 wood one of the local shops has and I’m so tempted to get it..
I’m 66 and a swing speed of 75 mph so it seems the XXIO would suit me…

  19. Age 74 & been as low as 3 Handicap & still off 6 in my late 60’s, now up to 14 & carry a 7 and an 11 Wood (Callaway Paradigm) hoping to come down again, only carry 6 Iron upwards now

  20. i am a 13 handicapper (down from 18) & I put it down to my 2, 3, & 4 hybrids. I have got rid of my 5 wood because I am more comfortable playing a 150 meter to a 200 meter approach than around 120 meter because I have the same confidence in my hybrids that you have in this 7-wood. Same reasoning.

  21. Great stuff Liam. Puting two new hibrids in the bag this week and hoping for a similar result. Look forward to seeing videos with the 7 wood in play. Mr B will claim you're cheating.
