Social media users are speculating that Donald Trump’s apparent hand injury could impact his golf game moving forward, as some expressed concerns over viral photos of the 78-year-old.
Images circulating online over the weekend appeared to show his right hand being covered up with makeup in an attempt to conceal the issue, with many believing bruises or discoloration to be the problem.
The issue was spotted as early as February this year, but fresh photos have now generated cause for concern for the health of President Trump, who appears to be using concealer to hide the recurring issue, as seen on Friday as he stepped out of the White House.
Last month, the White House released a statement addressing the bruising on Trump’s hand, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explaining it was caused by frequent handshakes.
“Recent photos of the president have shown minor bruising on the back of his hand. This is consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking… The president remains in excellent health,” the White House said in July.
Trump has since been diagnosed with a vein condition, and there is now growing worry among golf fans over his career on the greens, of which he juggles alongside his presidential duties, according to the Irish Star.
One social media user argued: “Trump needs to take care of that hand. It’s going to start affecting his golf game.”
Another wrote on X: “Damn it! Was hoping he wouldn’t golf – proving something is def up with his health.”
But one social media user argued: “You can’t convince us there is something wrong with him. He is actively playing golf.”
The President is known for his love of the sport and often fits it in at least one or two rounds each weekend, but how he plans to continue doing so moving forward remains to be seen. Despite his apparent health issues, Trump’s golfing skills have impressed those who’ve seen him play.
He often brags about his current records.
Recent stats show that Trump has spent roughly 20 percent of his presidency playing golf since returning to office on January 20, showcasing his deep passion for the sport. This, however, has sparked concern among Americans and severe criticism for the president, with many questioning his priorities in office.
Last month, American taxpayers expressed their frustration when they learned they’d be shelling out $600,000 to provide Secret Service agents with golf carts and portable toilets at his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey.
According to a HuffPost analysis, Trump’s latest trip to Scotland, specifically Turnberry and his other 18-hole course in Aberdeen, is expected to cost around $9.7 million.
While Trump, who reportedly has an unlikely 2.8 handicap with the USGA, may have an unusual swing, it’s one that’s reliable and yields consistent results. However, his recurring hand injury could now affect this.
