Shane Lowry showed true class and sportsmanship at The Open when he took a penalty on himself—without hesitation. Even though the incident was subtle and likely wouldn’t have been noticed, Lowry made the call to ensure no one could ever question his integrity or accuse him of bending the rules. In a tournament where every shot counts, this moment proves why Shane is one of the most respected players in the game. Golf played the right way—no shortcuts, no doubts.

A silly rule. Class Shane, pure class.
What a magnificent attitude from someone who has probably been very hard done by. It says very much about him personally – an outstanding example to our young people, which they don't often get from footballers!
So sorry for Shane. Always enjoy seeing him play. Don't for a minute believe the ball moved. Must be the wind and grass around it making it appear as if the ball was moving.
This is crazy! I watched Fitzpatrick ( a few years ago) visibly move his ball at least a half inch when chipping from off the green and no one called him on it. The reason, they said, was because the ball went back to it's original place. When there is a sprinkler head in the way, they are allowed to move the ball a whole foot or so and pick a nice lie but accidently nudge the ball 1 millimeter and 2 stroke penalty. Also if the player doesn't see it and the camera doesn't see it, there is no penalty.
Shane got totally ripped off, and handled it like a Champ. Kudos to you sir!
Shane is no cheat. Utterly ridiculous rule.
hilarious , a cheat moves the ball into a better position , shanes ball went lower, make it make sense ok r&a morons
Don’t know about Rham but Reed that’s a know brainer.
