FULL RESULTS
CLEMSON, S.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s golf team opened its 2025-26 season at the Tiger Classic on Monday (Aug. 25), and the Bulldogs battled to a second-place finish out of 11 teams.
TEAM RECORD
Asheville shot a 574 (-2) after shooting 5-over on the first 18 holes and 7-under on the back half of the 36 holes. Asheville’s 7-under-par (281) second round is the lowest round scored in program history, and the Bulldogs’ 2-under-par 36-hole finish marks the first time in program history Asheville has finished a tournament under par. Asheville’s 574 on the day is a program record for the lowest 36-hole score.
NEWCOMERS MAKE AN IMPACT
In her Bulldog debut, Lauren Madson led Asheville with rounds of 73-67, finishing the day at 4-under-par. Madson’s 5-under-par second round makes her the second Bulldog in program history to shoot a 5-under-par round, as teammate Caroline Patterson shot a 5-under-par 67 last season at the Mercer Invitational. Madson’s two-round score of 140 (-4) set a new program record for lowest 36-hole total. Madson finished in fifth place out of 70 golfers. Madson was one of three individuals who shot an eagle on the day.
Pennie Osterberg started her senior campaign with a 2-under-par finish with rounds of 72-70. Osterberg finished ninth following her 2-under par second round. Osterberg led the team and tied for second in the field with 10 birdies.
TOP-20 FINISHES
Caroline Patterson finished 15th at one-over-par with rounds of 73-72. Breanna Hoese, in her Bulldog debut, and Jordyn Arts finished tied for 18th at 3-over-par. Both individuals shot rounds of 75 and 72.
INDIVIDUAL FINISHES
Sydney Craven led Asheville’s individuals, finishing tied for 32nd with rounds of 74 and 78. Carly Sherman followed with rounds of 80 and 77 and finished tied for 49th. Kate Bennett finished tied for 53rd with rounds of 80 and 78.
TEAM FINISHES
Asheville finished the first round in fourth place and improved to second place following a 281-second round. The Bulldogs moved ahead of Charlotte and Youngstown State, with the 49ers shooting an even par and Youngstown State shooting 1-over-par in the second round. Asheville and Clemson both shot a 281 in the second round.
