He should call Zach Johnson just to confirm he’s not on the team.

    ” some members…”

Meaning him. I can’t stand him. He’s insufferable.

    Edit: the worst take 😬

  3. ripper_14

Probs safe to assume JT will not get the nod, since he was the one who took KB’s spot for the last Ryder Cup…

  4. IronicHipsterCake

No matter what he does it won’t be worse than Zach, who has really solidified himself as one of the tour’s great douchebags.

  5. 10th on Data Golf for Americans, 11th on Ryder Cup points, he would likely be picked by most other captains. If the guys on the team want him to play, it makes sense he should pick himself, as he’s earned the spot and is wanted on the team.

We need guys with winning records on our team + some new blood.

Why is everyone against Cantlay? Bc of the hat?
He is 5-2-1 in his Ryder cup career, the best winning % of any possible captains pick.

Take him, JT (who also has a winning record) then some young players like Mcneally or Gotterup who were excellent match play players in college.

  7. I don’t envy him because, like most other things in sports, someone is only a “genius” (win) or a “moron” (loss, regardless of individual points earned) in hindsight if he picks himself.

  8. Inevitable-College-3

According to NBC yesterday (17 times) this is the toughest decision of his life.

  9. NoLawAtAllInDeadwood

He already has a role on the team, he is the captain and should not take a spot away so that he can play also. He’s #11, basically on the cut line, it’s not like he’s a no brainer pick. If he picks himself and then lays an egg at Bethpage the talk will only be about him playing.

  10. Ironcondorzoo

Just record him telling JT he’s not on the team please

  11. Pitiful_Spend1833

This is entirely a joke, completely embarrassing to the US Squad, and was completely avoidable. Just a clown show all the way through.

I need Don Rea’s personal opinion on the matter.

All i ask is that we can’t take both Brian Harman and Patrick Cantlay. One of them maximum.

  13. IsaacJacobSquires

Don’t worry, Keegan will screw it up, the US will infight and lose.

  14. He’s definitely played well enough to be a pick, but if you agree to be captain you really shouldn’t pick yourself, your role has been set from the get go. IMO the real problem is we’re picking guys to be captain who can still play, and then giving them way too many captains picks. There should be maybe 2 captains picks.

    My prediction:

    Maverick McNealy

    Ben Griffey

    Keegan

    Cameron Young

    Patrick Cantlay

    Justin Thomas

Although after this comment JT’s spot might be going to Novak, Harman or Burns.

  16. Sad_Anteater_1531

Unpopular opinion, I think Xander should get dropped

  17. _Poppagiorgio_

I’ve got a feeling this whole thing Keegan stuff is gonna blow up spectacularly and the US is going to lose on home soil again,

  18. Sorethumbsfifa

He should not pick himself, not because he is not playing well, but he has way too much to lose

  19. Different-Bed1942

Can’t be worse than Zach Johnson just picking his ‘4-some scramble team’ for a golf outting

  20. Particular-Ad9304

I can imagine him being on the other side of the phone calls probably feels pretty good, especially after last Ryder Cup

  21. _Treadstone_

He seems to always play well in New England. If he picks himself and plays well, he’s a genius. If he plays bad, he’s an idiot. Whether or not he’s on the team, I have a hard time seeing the US winning this.
