MACOMB– Effingham St. Anthony is the champion. The Bulldogs won the Gary Saunders Boys Golf Invitational Saturday at the Macomb Country Club.

Coach Phil Zaccari’s crew tallied a 300 followed by Metamora 310, Illini West 317, Port Byron (Riverdale) 318, Macomb 329, Carlinville 340, Geneseo 340, Assumption 348, Pleasant Plains 351, Rochester 355, Rock Island Alleman 358, Bloomington Central Catholic 373, Bartonville Limestone 380, Canton 386 and Burlington 401.

St. Anthony’s Logan Gowin, a freshman, was medalist for the event with a 33-35 — 68. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Maddux Clark 38-38 — 76, Alec Hakman 39-38 — 77 and Drake Brown 41-38 — 79. Non-counting scores were Jameson McAllaster 44-38 — 82, Liam McAllaster 43-39 — 82, Briggs Whitley 37-46 — 83 and James Trupiano 47-38 — 85.

 

At Flora

Altamont won a boys golf meet Friday at the Flora Country Club.

Altamont and Flora scored a 186 each. The tiebreaker went to Altamont as their fifth golfer’s score was better than Flora’s. North Clay had two players competing while Cisne had one player.

Also scoring for Altamont were Kamryn Wolfert 46, Mason Schaub 47 and Joel Bauer 48. Henry Niemann had a 48 and Harrison Lash had a 49.

Competing for North Clay were Jacob Arnold 46 and Brodie Adair 50.

For the girls, Cecilia Pearcy had a 57 for third place while Meghan Goeckner had a 66 and Emma Sphar a 70.

North Clay’s Kennedy Jones was medalist with a 45 while Mackenzie Winterrowd took second with a 47.
