The LPGA wraps up its week north of the border on Sunday with the final round of the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open, aka the Canadian Women’s Open.
Mississaugua Golf & Country Club in Mississauga, Ontario, outside of Toronto is the host course.
And there’s a hometown favorite tied for the lead after 54 holes. Follow along for live updates all day.
Five Canadians, including 13-time winner on the LPGA Brooke Henderson, made the 36-hole cut. The other Canadians to join her on the weekend tee sheet: Monet Chun, Maude-Aimee Leblanc, Aphrodite Deng (a) and Katie Cranston (a). Kiara Romero also made the cut, giving amateurs three of the weekend spots.
For the first time in two years and seven months, Brooke Henderson has lifted a trophy on the LPGA. That the victory drought came to an end on Canadian soil made it one of the most significant triumphs of her decorated career.
The final round of the CPKC Women’s Open featured a back-and-forth battle between Henderson and Minjee Lee for most of the day at Ontario’s Mississaugua Golf and Country Club. Henderson pulled away on the 14th to take a one-stroke lead and then held on, pouring in a 12-foot birdie putt on the 17th to match Lee’s and maintain an advantage up the 72nd hole.
This marks the second time Henderson has won her national open, with the first coming in 2018. The winningest golfer in Canadian history now owns 14 LPGA titles.
Henderson becomes the 23rd different player to win on tour this season and the first Canadian since 1914 to win the national title twice. She closed with a 4-under 67 to finish at 15 under.
Henderson made 64 starts between victories on the LPGA. Her father Dave, who doubles as her instructor, wasted no time in getting out there to douse her with champagne.
“It’s so special,” said Henderson. “I’m surprised I’m not crying, because I thought I definitely was was going to during this interview.”
After Minjee Lee poured in a birdie putt on the 17th to tie Brooke Henderson, Canada’s finest made one on top of Lee from about 12 feet to maintain a one-shot lead going into the final hole.
While Minjee Lee managed a solid up-and-down for par on the 14th, she still lost ground on the par 3 as Canada’s own Brooke Henderson delighted the galleries with her second consecutive birdie to take a one-stroke lead.
Henderson leads the field at 14 under.
Mao Saigo, winner of the season’s first major, has birdied four out of her last five holes to get to 10 under and in a share of third.
Brooke Henderson had a solid look at eagle on the par-5 13th but couldn’t convert. Minjee Lee, looking to become the first player in 2025 to win twice this season, has now birdied the last two holes after making bogey on the 11th.
The pair remain knotted at 13 under.
It’s still shaping up to be a two-player race as Jeeno Thitikul, Akie Iwai and Manon De Roey are the closest pursuers, three back.
Three-time CPKC winner Lydia Ko shot 67 to finish at 9 under for the week, currently in solo seventh.
Brooke Henderson and Minjee Lee made the turn at the CPKC Women’s Championship knotted at 12 under. As the pair made a pit stop, fans banged the boards around the par-3 10th hole, known as “the rink,” as they waited.
World No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, playing just ahead, sits four strokes back.
The winningest player in Canadian golf history, Henderson hasn’t won a title on the LPGA since January 2023. She won her national open in 2018.
A third of the way through the final round, Canada’s finest, Brooke Henderson, holds a one-stroke lead over three-time major champion Minjee Lee. Henderson holed a crucial par putt on the sixth hole to keep her momentum at 12 under. Sei Young Kim and world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul are three back.
Henderson put a new putter in the bag two weeks ago, and then changed early week with a new weight and grip.
“It’s been a lovely switch,” said Henderson after Friday’s round. “Yeah, super happy about it. Feels great right now.”
One week after Oregon’s Kiara Romero finished in the top 10 at the The Standard Portland Classic, the top-ranked amateur shot 70-70 over the weekend at the CPKC Women’s Open. Currently T-36, Romero needs to finish in the top 40 to earn an all-important LEAP point toward her LPGA card.
Romero had a total of 13 LEAP points going into the week. She’ll need 20 points to earn her card.
Local favorite Brooke Henderson and Minjee Lee, tied for the lead at 11 under, have tee off to start their final rounds. When the round started, Jeeno Thitikul and Akie Iwai were tied for second, three shots back but as the leaders play the first hole, Gaby Lopez has made it a three-way tie at 8 under. Lopez is 3 under through six holes as she’s opened the final round on a hot streak with birdies on Nos. 2, 3 and 5.
Henderson not only made the cut, of course, but she’s tied for the lead at 11 under alongside Minjee Lee. With her sister on the bag and the hometown fans ready to erupt, Sunday could be special for Henderson, but Lee as well as Jeeno Thitikul and Akie Iwai (tied for third at 10 under) and a slew of others will be ready to challenge.
