At just 20 years old, South African prodigy Aldrich Potgieter has already made waves in professional golf, becoming the youngest winner ever on the Korn Ferry Tour last year and winning the Rocket Mortgage Classic in his rookie year on the PGA TOUR. But elite skill doesn’t happen by accident – it’s built on a foundation of physical capability and efficient mechanics.

In this video, we take you inside Aldrich’s visit to TPI where Dr. Rose and Dave Phillips conducted a movement assessment, 3D motion capture, and force plate analysis to better understand the physical traits driving his performance – and where he can continue to improve.

  1. I have a feeling, I am doing lot of the same stuff Aldreig and would love to get to TPI screening with Greg and the staff.

What do I need to do to get there?

  2. Doc, have you ever recommended a player lose weight? I’m asking because that’s such a young guy, I can’t imagine the excess weight he carries is a positive thing over the long haul of his career.

  3. maybe fix his grip , dude relies on that Harley grip so, id like to see how good his dispersion is with his irons.

  4. Your assessments of various tour level players has helped my swing become more consistent and repeatable. The best things I have developed this information is the correct transfer of power from the ground through the body to the club head (sequencing) and pushing the left hip back behind me through impact. I finally feel like I can execute rotating left as hard as I want without the ball going left. The ball flight is bullet straight or a bullet baby cut when executed properly. As a retired engineer, this technical information lights me up and transfers to feel majestically.

  5. Its interesting content but man Greg and Dave's energy is infectious. Its so fun watching someone do something they love so much. Cheers guys!

  6. Lost me at using vertical jump and sit-up and throw as 2 of the 3 power metrics. That’s power to weight ratio. A tiny guy could have huge numbers in those, doesn’t mean they can put a ton of power into the golf club. This dude is a big boy he’s probably generating tons of power from his legs and core but won’t show up in those metrics.

  7. If i was the longest guy on tour, the last thing i would do would be to change anything based on experts advice

  8. This is awesome stuff. I like seeing how even with guys like this there are still areas they can improve on, even if just a little bit. I love seeing the putting and chipping advice.
It would be so cool to be able to get an assessment like this.

  9. Thanks for the video. You guys referenced weight and pressure shift with Andy and Piers saying not to get to lead side early.
Can you do a video on correct pressure shift in the swing?

  10. At a decent level, you can learn more here at TPI than anywhere else on the Internet👍🍻 thanks guy's.
