Epic Par 4 At New England’s Oldest Public Golf Course is Historically Hard to Beat
You don’t need to go on an elaborate trip to find one of the best golf holes out there. If you’re looking for a challenge and place that’s got a great story, look no further than the 12th hole at Boston’s Franklin Park.
Nicknamed “Bobby Jones” after the late great co-designer of Augusta National. Rumor has it that Jones would play the hole ad nauseam while he was a student at Harvard. It’s easy to see why. The 12th hole at Franklin Park is a masterclass in natural design elements that have withstood the test of time. Same thing could be said about Augusta National but maybe that’s just coincidence…Maybe not.
Golf Course architect Mark Mungeam describes the changes made in recent years at Franklin Park. He discusses challenges of working on a site with so much history and honoring the vision and spirit of Donald Ross’s design.
History, folklore, and exceptional design intersect on hole number 12 at Franklin Park and the experience leaves a lasting impression long after you’ve finished your round.
