When you look at Min Woo Lee’s modern swing compared to Ben Hogan’s classic swing, you see a striking difference. The modern game often features virtually zero lateral shift, with the player coiling almost entirely in place. Hogan, on the other hand, employed a generous weight shift—a move that not only created rhythm but also allowed him to harness ground forces for incredible compression and control.
For older golfers especially, that weight shift can be a game-changer. It adds fluidity, reduces strain, and helps you generate effortless power instead of trying to muscle the ball.
We’ll be working on these timeless fundamentals at my upcoming Classic Swing Weekend Golf School, September 21–22 at Grapevine Golf Course in Dallas, TX. If you’ve been wanting to learn how to bring the classic swing into your game, this is your chance.
