Lions also donate $1,000 to Westfield Choir & Theater Boosters

During the summer months, the Westfield Lions cut back to one meeting per month, and at the Aug. 21 meeting they were pretty busy (and generous).
After wrapping up the finances for their second annual golf outing and adding a sponsorship check to one of the Westfield High School booster clubs, the Lions wrote donation checks totaling $8,200.
The Lions’ “Fore the Kids” golf outing held at Pebble Brook Golf Course raised funds for four different organizations that work with Westfield children and school students. This year’s recipients of the proceeds from the golf outing were Student Impact, the Westfield Education Foundation, the Westfield Youth Assistance Program, and the Westfield Lions’ WHS scholarship program. The $7,200 raised at the golf outing allowed the Lions to write $1,775 checks to each of these well-deserving organizations.
The Lions’ golf outing chairman, Dave Sobczak, did another masterful job organizing the event and lining up several sponsors. His hard work, along with several other Lions, ensured the event ran smoothly and all the golfers had fun (even if they didn’t play well).
In addition to the donations made possible by the golf outing, the Lions continued their commitment to supporting Westfield schools and their students by becoming a “Rocks” level sponsor for the Westfield Theater & Choir Boosters Association. The Lions have placed a huge emphasis on funding teacher and student grants, various donations, scholarships, and even dictionaries to Westfield school students.
The Westfield Lions are constantly looking for more ways to be a key resource for the Westfield community. Besides raising funds for the schools and their students, they also volunteer at numerous events and now have a state-of-the-art community center that is an affordable option to rent.
