The Children’s Kidney Fund NI is a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting families across Northern Ireland and today was named the Official Charity to the Black Desert NI Legends event to take place at Galgorm from August 27-31, 2025.

As tournament week fast approaches, all funds raised at the event will directly benefit the local Northern Ireland charity. The Children’s Kidney Fund NI aims to provide financial assistance, emotional support, and practical resources to families facing the challenges of caring for a child with kidney conditions.

The organisation works tirelessly to raise awareness about paediatric kidney diseases, fund research initiatives, and offer direct support to families in need. Through fundraising events, donations, and community outreach programmes, the fund strives to make a positive impact on the lives of children and their families.

“As patron of the Children’s Kidney Fund NI, I want to say a huge thank you to the organisers of the Legends Tour event, and the team at Galgorm, for choosing us as their designated charity, said BBC NI’s Stephen Watson.

“As someone who has undergone two life-saving transplants myself I understand just how difficult life can be for hundreds of children who are undergoing treatment for renal disease.

“Our charity has zero overheads and every penny raised will be used to support families across Northern Ireland.”

As part of the tournament schedule at Galgorm, the NI Legends Pro-am on Thursday August 28 will be FREE ENTRY for everyone. This is a great opportunity to bring all the family just days before the schools return for a new term, and for the chance to watch legends of the game in action. Tournament Ambassador Ian Woosnam heads the field. The former world number one, Masters champion, Ryder Cup player and captain is looking forward to getting back to Ireland.

“Galgorm enjoys a great reputation as one of the country’s best tournament venues and I am looking forward to competing there. The Pro-Am format for the NI Legends lends itself to a great week where amateurs get the chance to compete alongside the professionals.”

The Children’s Kidney Fund NI is now in its 25th year and provides a range of services to support families across Northern Ireland. The support is for both children and parents, educational resources about kidney health, and advocacy on behalf of families within the healthcare system.
