WALWORTH, N.Y. – Residents near the Blue Heron Golf Club in Walworth voiced their displeasure at a Town Board meeting over plans to build 47 new homes on the golf course.
The development would cover at least three of the 18 holes. Walworth Town Supervisor Rick Johnson said the town had to address the situation as rumors initially because no official paperwork had been filed.
Marsha Augustin: “You mentioned to me, ‘Marsha, this is all rumors’ — but now it appears to be the reality, Rick.”
Rick Johnson: “That’s correct; we had to address it as rumors because there was nothing officially filed with the town. Last Friday at 12:45 the engineering group or architects delivered the plans.”
The plans were posted on the town’s website the following Monday and forwarded to the Planning Board for consideration. This development has left neighbors like Paul Bosdyk worried, as his home is next to fairway 9, where nine homes are proposed to be built.
“I built my house 20 years ago with the idea of living on the golf course,” Bosdyk said. “I was upset at first but we have to go through the process of the town.”
Sherry Kearns, another resident near hole 9, expressed her concerns about losing her front-yard view of the course.
“There will be multiple homes facing our front yard. The back of these new homes will be right in our front yard,” Kearns said.
“We are very upset,” Kearns added.
The next Planning Board meeting is scheduled for Sept. 8. To view the proposed plans or to contact the Planning Board, go to this page.
