Just did aim point express 1&2 last Thursday with Ollie Leet…blown away buy how simple the basics are…and the confidence it gives you…been trying to get back to single figures since COVID… finally made it on Friday and Saturday…..I didn't hole everything of course not …but the reads were consistently good…and I find it quicker than walking aimlessly around the green looking from behind or to the side…
As a senior golfer Aimpoint has been a huge part of my improved putting stats. My eyes are considerably weaker now than they were in my prime. Aimpoint takes that liability and replaces it with a much faster, more accurate, and more consistent read. It takes practice, but if you commit to the process, it's not hard to get good very quickly.
Lots of break seems easier so what are the keys to the 1 ball to half a ball outside the cup type putts?
Aimpoint does not work on Bermuda greens, because it does not take into account grain. Straddling the line to try to determine slope is worthless when grain affects the roll of the ball.
Opening shot makes the tow of you look like doppelgangers.
Mark, given your experience in the game and especially as a coach, bit surprised you were unaware of the basic principles of the AimPoint approach
I had the pleasure of taking a lesson with Mark Sweeney at Ventana Canyon, and since then, my putting has improved immensely using AimPoint Express. I’m curious—at what distance is the read typically accurate enough that the ball consistently drops in the hole? I’m trying to identify a max distance to help speed up my reads. Also, when a first putt misses and rolls 2–5 feet past the hole, are most of those comeback putts generally straight?
