A golf competition at one of the younger clubs in the borough will take place this weekend.
Hart Common Golf Club in Westhoughton will host its Captains Charity Day this Saturday, August 23.
It will be an open competition, meaning golfers at clubs from all over will get a chance to play on Hart Common’s grounds.
The day is all for a great cause, raising money for Westhoughton charity, Senior Solutions, which helps older people with things like luncheon clubs, befriending them and more.
Club captain, Mark Dacre, said: “It is our first open competition, Hart Common is 30 years old this year and the Roberts family who own the golf course and club house have generously given this event to us to organise.

“Senior Solutions combats isolation in elderly people. My daughter is a volunteer with them, and has been for 14 years since being at high school, she started then and kept it going.

Mark added: “A lot of people volunteer for them, they have 140 which is a lot of people, but they are always looking for more as they want to expand their services.
“We hope to raise as much money as we can for the charity.”
The main competition will be played by pairings, with prizes to be awarded for the best scores of the day.
There will also be a charity raffle on the day.
