Prime Minister (PM) Jeremiah Manele, MP, is in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea to participate in the inaugural WANSOL Prime Ministers Charity Golf Challenge.

The participation came at the gracious invitation of James Marape, MP, Prime Minister of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea.

Members of Prime Minister Manele’s Golf team include Hon. Rick Houenipwela, MP for Small Malaita, Sir Frank Kabui, former Governor General and Deputy Secretary (Policy) to Prime Minister, Salana Kalu.

The Charity Golf Challenge is a 4- person Ambrose format with gameplay scheduled for today at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club.

PM arrives in POM

The WANSOL Prime Ministers Charity Golf Challenge is an initiative of Prime Minister Marape and will take place biennially, alternating between Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands.

Key features of the Charity Golf Challenge include a K5,000 team registration fee, participation from corporate teams and government agencies and Financial transparency with funds managed by the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club under the oversight of the organizing committee.

The initiative highlights the use of sports as a platform to strengthen regional cooperation and promote community welfare.

The event brings together leaders, businesses, and stakeholders from both countries to raise funds for key community development projects while strengthening bilateral ties.

Proceeds from this year’s event will support sports development and health improvements in both countries.

The Government of Papua New Guinea partly covers expenses for Prime Minister Manele’s trip.
