  1. Weird award. Payne was a very arrogant person for most of his life. It was kinda cringe the way he patronized Phil Mickelson after training the putt (and having the legendary fist pump). I recall him making fun of Asians about a week before his death. A very arrogant thing to do. I think he changed through the years, and used to be way worse, but this is still a pretty odd award.

  2. Is this the virtue-signaling Hall of Fame, or is this a meeting of delusional religious nuts. I mean, the odds that God exists are essentially zero, and the odds that the "God" that Payne and Paul worship exists is less than that. The odds gotta be just as great that if there is a God, he would reward critical thinking, which is, after all, the only thing we know for sure that we have. Last month a guy told me that it was a fact that Jesus rose from the dead. Whatever, Buddy, but even if it were true, in the Bible in Matthew it says that many graves in Jerusalem opened up and numerous Saints were also wondering around and visiting old friends. It's an effin joke….lol.

  3. Must watch speech for all golf lovers.
My first moment was when he said he still talks and plays annually with his college teammates. Of course by the end he had me straight up crying.

Jay Monahan btw I’ve been tough on but he did an amazing job introducing Paul Azinger tonite; giving amazing context of that special relationship with Payne.

I appreciate Paul sharing how he found out about Payne. It’s true we didn’t know how that went down and while we have not thought about it much it’s almost something that’s been on the back of our minds for decades now. But of course we know that is none of our business unless Paul wanted to share. Tonite he did share that story and so many others; doing it all with the eloquence only a golf legend with an incredible relationship with the Lord, as well as Payn Stewart, as well as years of honing speaking skills on television can; and all of us watching benefited from all of that tonite.
Congratulations Mr Azinger on this extremely deserved honor.

  4. I’ve always admired Paul and I’m so thrilled he’s mentioned his wife and his faith. I knew his faith shaped his character

  5. Incredible!. It is obvious that Paul is an amazing man who lives a life of full of character and integrity and he touches many peoples lives, and now I can count myself as one of those who he has helped. His challenge to all of us at the end of his speech was especially meaningful. 22:10 "Purpose isn't something we wait to find. It's something we live today. Take one step this week that aligns your actions with your true purpose. Because when we live in purpose, we don't just change our lives, but we change the lives of everyone. Like Payne Stewart." Thank you Paul.

  6. Damn shame the man’s closest friend has time constraints on speaking about the award, his accomplishments, and his friend’s untimely death. You’d think that the golf channel, nbc, producers, etc wouldn’t have such a callous soul.

  7. I watched Paul play the father son tournament in Orlando years ago . Aaron Stewart was his partner … Says alot huh . But the greatest opening shot I've ever seen happened on first tee . Aaron cranked one 280 down the middle , then Paul then proceeded to take a full swing and hit the ball 4 inches … UNREAL he tried to do that and said to us in crowd … That's the best one I've ever done . Try it one time , it's impossible …
