Also on Monday we had the final round of the mixed Junior sixes in the mini-league against teams from Courtown, New Ross and Rosslare.
This competition was played over the course of the summer with each club hosting a round. It is a great event and is an excellent introduction to competitive golf for the boys and girls in a very enjoyable scramble format.
Our club team put in some incredible performances and were runners up in the league, a mere one point behind the winning team from Rosslare. Congratulations to everyone involved!
The club members are so grateful to the Junior Girls Convenor, Rita Morgan, for all the time and effort she put into organising the boys and girls and ensuring we fielded a team in each round.
She was ably assisted at the various venues by her team of volunteers and the parents, who were always happy to oblige and without whom we would not have managed.
The girls and boys who represented the club with honour and pride were Anna Isdell, Aoife Rice, Elena Lee Morris, Anna Doyle, Declan Callan, Cian Fitzpatrick, Killian Dunphy, Billy Rossiter and Harry Cowman. Well done to each and every one of you!
Tuesday evening’s mixed Scotch foursomes was played in glorious sunshine and lovely balmy weather conditions. Congratulations to John and Mary on achieving their first win of the year in this fun competition! Well done folks.
Tuesday, August 12, mixed Scotch foursomes: 1, Mary and John Rackard (5.7), 55.3.
Our Junior girls had a wonderful day on Tuesday for Junior Captain Georgia’s big day. They were blessed with fantastic sunshine on the course and had plenty of fun as they participated in a nine-hole scramble.
Afterwards they enjoyed some delicious food served up with the usual great service from Andy and his team at Slice. The desserts were a big hit and went down very well!
Junior Captain Georgia thanked everyone for being there to help with the celebrations before the big announcement of the identity of the incoming Junior Captain.
Congratulations and very best wishes to Leah Conneely on accepting the honour for 2026. We all wish you lots of success, enjoyment and camaraderie for your big year. I’m sure we’ll be seeing plenty more of you on the fairways!

New Ross Seniors
Our weekly scramble took place on Thursday, with 15 teams vying for the much sought-after prizes and bragging rights.
Mention must be made of the Mediterranean-type weather, while the condition of the course, fairways and greens was simply awesome – credit to Seamus and his greenkeeping staff.
The results were astonishing, in that three teams all finished on the same score (107), so the back decided the actual placings of the first three.
The winners on 107 points (51/56) were Michael Kavanagh, Dickie O’Neill, Ritchie Aylward and Les Jasztrebski.
Second on 107 (55/52) were Billy Redmond, Seán Ó hUiginn, Martin Whelan and Tom Purcell, and third on 107 points (57/50) were Martin Murphy, J.J. Hoyne, Tommy Ryan and Fr. Jim Curtis.
The best front nine of the remaining twelve teams (56) went to Johnny Farrell, Willie Whitty, Liam Glasheen and Larry Miskella, while winners of the best back nine of the remaining twelve teams (52) were Pat Phelan, Seán O’Neill, Tom Butler and Peter Aldridge (on countback).
