Charlie Woods is poised to play the No. 1 line for The Benjamin School’s golf team this fall.Woods had a successful summer, winning his first AJGA title and placing in the top 10 at the Junior PGA Championship. The Benjamin School’s golf team aims to rebound after finishing second in the state championship last year.
Charlie Woods is poised to take the No. 1 role for his high school golf team this fall according to head coach Toby Harbeck.
Woods, son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, is a rising junior on the Benjamin School boys golf team. He won a state championship with the Bucs in 2023, the program’s fourth all-time.
The Buccaneers lost senior leader Pavel Tsar, who signed with Notre Dame, from last year’s team but have a trio of talented juniors — Woods, Brooks Colton and Tsar’s younger brother Andrew — who will form the core of the 2025 roster.
“Charlie has come a long way in two years,” Harbeck said in a recent interview with veteran golf reporter Craig Dolch. “He’s lost 10 pounds and is ready to take on that No. 1 role.
“Losing Pavel is a significant loss, but I’ve got those three juniors who have played on the team and have quite a lot of experience. My first three guys are going to be really good.”
Woods enjoyed a breakout 2025 summer on the junior golf circuit. He secured his first career America Junior Golf Association victory in May and a Top 10 finish at the 49th Junior PGA Championships in August, rising to No. 13 overall in the AJGA’s junior golf rankings.

Benjamin boys golf enjoyed another strong campaign in 2024 but came up just short of back-to-back state titles after struggling on the first day of the Class 1A state tournament at Mission Inn Resort & Club.
“To this day, I don’t know what happened,” said Harbeck, who has won four state titles in more than 40 years at the school. “Maybe we were overconfident. We just had one bad round at the worst time possible.”
Woods and the Bucs finished in second place, seven shots back of West Palm Beach’s Oxbridge Academy.
