You obviously know what you’re doing but that putter set up/grip combo is WILD
toweliechaos_revenge
These look a lot worse than the ‘browns’ I played on in Bahrain. They were magnificent. Not only did they roll as true as possible and at a nice 10 ish speed, they left a tiny trail showing your putt line which was extremely helpful if you missed and went past the hole.
German_Von_Squidward
The $10 green fees got me 🤣
BuzzStarkiller
Why not include the name of the course and where in Colorado it is?
Kpipk13
Had a 9 hole sand green course in the small town where i went to college. It was free and I’d stop by inbetween classes and go play.
Usually just did inside flag stick 1 putt and outside 2 to save time.
For the city tournament, they’d oil the sand and we’d putt it out. I usually used driver or some wood.
Puzzleheaded_Owl7524
Yeah, I love golf, I just don’t love it that much.

Aim point, broom stick and unconventional grip just screams a guy who hits it well but has zero putting game and has gone down every dark rabbit hole trying to figure it out.
Course looks sweet

What in the reverse grip broomstick aimpoint are we looking at?
memelard42069
I feel like you may have broken this course’s dress code, in the opposite direction. Do they allow collared, tucked shirts?
DH_Hammer
I did 20 years ago, if memory serves those were either much more heavily oiled than these (or just dirtier/different oil)
Did you get to contend with OB marked by electric cattle fences and a small bovine gallery?
3BallCornerPocket
Green fee $10 if you find anything green.
Sooperballz
How you gonna have green fees if you ain’t got no greens?
Brabinski
Well if you’re playing every golf course in the state you’ve got another sand green course in the far southeast corner to come play lol
Whiteshovel66
Sometimes when they punch the greens here it turns into something like this. They won’t let us use a broom or whatever that is though.
WHSRWizard
I can’t imagine how dark a place you have to be in to get to left hand-low with a broomstick.
You OK, OP? Need to talk?
tke439
I’m more impressed that you have a whole group playing orange balls…

Does the ball even break much? Aimpoint on these greens seems borderline psycho

Where is this?

Bro doing aim point on a sand green. 😭
Neither_Structure331
My grandparents lived in a small town and they had a sand greens golf course – often called a prairie course. My grandfather would run his tractor over it to spray for weeds (for free) so they gave us free golf. It was pretty short but a great way for a young kid to learn golf.
The greens were far more oiled than this and each course has different rules for greens. Their course you just moved your ball around to the path, tried to keep the same distance. Most of their greens had a rim around the back which caught fairway rollers. Their course was actually rather difficult because of a few hills. One “green” was cut into the side of the hill so if you went short, left or right, you were rolling to the bottom. Long and you might bounce over the hill into some trees but since it was cut into a hill there was like a 5ft wall along the back of the green to catch your shots.
There used to be a website that listed all of these courses but I haven’t seen it in a long time.

All set, but thanks

Are you allowed to smooth out green before you putt?
Junkman3
I am curious how they hold an incoming wedge shot, etc. Does the ball hit and spin like a traditional green or does it skip forward because it can’t get penetration and friction?
DannarHetoshi
I admire the Reverse Broom handle effort
HotCarl169
Why does a course like this exist?
Jon_Hanson
Are you sure that’s a golf course and that you’re not just trespassing in some random field?
Trolly_troll_troll
Haha Red Feather Lakes in CO has a course with same thing.
Speedbird223
My mother moved to Iran in the 1960s and learned to play golf there. Oil greens and a caddie with a piece of turf they’d lug around and toss on the ground to play fairway shots from.

Ankle socks when knowingly playing a sand course is crazy

“Brown fees”
What were your approach shots like? Did the ball want to skip, or could you just kill it? That seems like it would be incredibly fun, just throwing darts at pins.
TypicalBonehead
My closest course growing up out in the country was a prairie goat track with sand greens. It cost $2 per round so it was plenty good enough for us.

Y’all play Buena Vista yet? My favorite little 9 holer in Colorado.
I have. Volunteers got a little wild with the sand after punching. They had a couple without sand too
Patient_Reach439
The photo with the shot tracers ….. it looks like you’re looking over at the next ~~fairway~~ area of rough as the ball is leaving.
DanielR333
Played on them in Exmouth, Western Australia. The course was so remote I had to submit it to the golf apps to be recognised. Shot a respectable 89 if I remember, and had to report dingo footprints to the clubhouse

Who won? You or Paul?
Where in CO? I’ve heard about these greens. Is this our near Kansas border?
