Patrick Kentlay and Shane Lowry came under scrutiny for slow play during the third round of the BMW Championship at Caves Valley, Maryland. The pair fell seven minutes behind their allotted time par by the 12th hole, prompting rules officials to put them on the clock as early as the fourth hole. NBC and Golf Channel displayed a pace of play graphic, showing the group’s delay and urging them to speed up. Golf Channel analyst Mark Dusbeck explained the duo had lost 3 minutes since their initial warning with the next hole now clear ahead. Other groups including leaders Bob McIntyre and world number one Scotty Sheffller were also timed. Sheffller criticized the decision saying it affected his rhythm despite his efforts to maintain pace. The incident has intensified discussions on stricter slowplay enforcement on the PGA Tour.
