Victor Hovland stands by controversial putting approach. Norwegian golfer Victor Hovland has defended his unusual putting method, explaining that it helps him manage his visual limitations. In a recent ping video at Scotland’s Guain Golf Club, Hovland revealed he uses the Aimoint system to read putts, admitting, “I’m basically a blind man. I just can’t see the break as well as other guys can.” While analysts like Jim Nance have criticized the method, Havlin says it protects him from optical illusions that can cause missed putts. He marks his ball with a single line and uses a doublelined putter to ensure accuracy. Ranked world number 15, Havland has maintained strong putting stats, including plus 0.236 strokes gained in 2023 and plus 0.269 in 2024. Currently T4 on the tour championship bubble, he continues to rely on his technique to perform at the highest level. Friends, what is your opinion about this? Share in the comments.
