WHY Do I Miss So Many Greens In Regulation?! – Golf Course Near Me – Golf Test Dummy

Part 1 of 2. In this course vlog, I visit a golf course that I have played quite a few times since moving to the Raleigh, NC area. This golf course has a decent layout, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be well-funded and the maintenance staff runs with a skeleton crew, leaving the conditions of the course in what most would regard as less than ideal. That said, the guy in the pro shop is always very nice and helps me to get on course in the least trafficked areas, so I can film without much to slow me down or interfere. I started playing golf on courses like this, so I have a soft spot for the “goat ranches” out there.

I have had the hardest time lately, say the last 6 months, with hitting GIR often. It is, what I feel, the biggest hurdle keeping me from forward progress in golf. I’ve been playing vintage irons now for about 3 months in an effort to force me to become a better ball striker. Maybe I have improved in that regard, however, these irons are not forgiving in the least and I find myself having to scramble and save par way too often. I may purchase a fairly recent and modern set of cavity back irons with stronger lofts soon, and see if by simply changing to a club designed to help, will do just that, after months of playing with golf’s toughest clubs.

Golf is a difficult game, but we make it tougher than it has to be most of the time. That said, there are a million reasons why we make the golf swing in to a monster that beats us up and steals our lunch money. In my efforts to improve my skills and scores, I explore all sorts of avenues in the world of golf. I try different swing methods, clubs, balls, strategies, etc.

I also conduct some product reviews, as well as collect vintage clubs. I have all but sworn off modern clubs and play vintage equipment almost exclusively. I share my collection with you as it grows and changes, and I’m even getting in to some club refurbishing. I’ll have to learn as I go and maybe you will learn a bit by watching me.
