President Donald Trump’s frequent golf trips since his second inauguration have cost taxpayers $71 million, according to an analysis by Grok, which cited information from the Government Accountability Office.

President Trump darted to the golf course in Florida after failing to secure a solid peace deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the two’s summit in Alaska Friday. The trip got a rise out of critics online, who emphasized that Trump seemed to be enjoying himself after making no progress in ending the more than three-year-war.

Republicans Against Trump, an X account that frequently criticizes the president, asked the Xai generative chatbot Grok how much taxpayer money Trump has spent on golf trips since taking office for the second time.

The answer was a whopping $71 million across 50 days.

“RpsAgainstTrump Estimates vary, but based on GAO-adjusted trackers and reports from CREW, Guardian, and others, Trump’s golf trips have cost taxpayers approximately $71 million since January 2025, across 51 days,” the chatbot reported on X.

The egregious cost of the president’s weekend getaways is nothing new. He has reportedly spent about 24% of his second term golfing, according to tracking website Didtrumpgolftoday.

Over the first several weeks of the second Trump administration, the Federal Aviation Administration signaled Trump’s presence by posting a formal “notice to airmen” on its website almost every Tuesday, warning of impending flying restrictions over south Florida.

This forces local officials to station boats on either side of Trump’s lavish estate, helicopters in the air, and additional personnel on the ground-costing $240,000 a day according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The president’s latest golf outing came on the heels of an underwhelming meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Despite claiming to have made “progress” in the Russia-Ukraine war peace talks, Trump seemed to concede to Putin and give his demands for land a better chance of coming to fruition.

During the nearly three-hour summit , Putin outlined his demands for “land swaps” with Ukraine, including his insistence that Ukraine cede the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine, according to European officials who were familiar with Trump’s later account of the meeting to his counterparts.

Putin stated that he would be prepared to freeze the existing front lines in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia areas of the rest of Ukraine in return for a pledge not to invade Ukraine or other European countries in the future.

He did not, however, back down from his demand to eradicate what Russia refers to as the “root causes” of the conflict in Ukraine, which is code for shrinking Kyiv’s military and giving up its hopes of joining NATO and turning into a neutral state.
