RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men’s golf team announced their 2025-26 schedule on Thursday that will feature four fall and seven spring tournaments starting with the JT Poston Invitational from September 14-16.
Following the JT Poston Invitational, the Vaqueros will also compete at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic from Sep. 29-30 at Westwood Country Club. The Vaqueros will return to the Trinity Forrest Invitational from Oct. 5-7 at Trinity Forrest Golf Club before closing out the fall at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic from Oct. 24-25 at Club Campestre in Monterrey, Mexico.
“I think the fall is the same schedule we had last year,” UTRGV Director of Golf Houston Moore said. “So, the guys will go in with a lot of familiarity with these golf courses and locations. We start off strong going to the JT Poston with a beautiful golf course in the Rocky Mountains. We’ll head to the Bayou City up the road, so we are familiar with as well. It will be our third time playing there in the last four years. We go back to SMU at Trinity Forrest where we played solid against some tough competition and excited to go back there. We finish up the fall at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic with unbelievable hospitality and great to get the guys down there.”
The spring season will open with the Vaqueros hosting the Compadres Collegiate from Feb. 1-3 at Playa Paraiso Golf Club in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico for the third-straight season. They will then compete at the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club from Feb. 17-18 before teeing it up at the Lone Star Shootout at the TPC San Antonio from Feb. 23-24.
UTRGV will compete at the prestigious All-American Intercollegiate from March 16-17 at the Golf Club of Houston and then will head north to compete at the Maridoe Intercollegiate from March 30-31 at Maridoe Golf Course.
The Vaqueros will get their final tune up of the regular season at the Tiger Intercollegiate from April 6-7 at The Club at Old Hawthorne before competing at the Southland Conference Championships from Apr. 20-22 at Comanche Trace in Kerrville.
“I think over all we have a familiar schedule,” Moore said. “We have done well to get back into these golf tournaments. Adding UTSA’s tournament is a great addition. San Antonio is in our back yard and anytime we can get to play a TPC golf course is fantastic. This spring has a lot of strong fields, and it will be exciting to see how our guys will compete against these teams. We are excited for the opportunity.”
This season, the NCAA Regional Championships will be held from May 18-20 at regional sites with the NCAA Championships being held from May 29-June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
