Big Drive Energy special Monday edition postmember guest. Head straight to the guillian which we didn’t have. We are going to talk all about our member guest this past week playing at Inesse Golf Club. How it went down, some funny stories, some some golf shots that we hit. And this isn’t a this isn’t a bragging episode. We did win the tournament, but we just are pretty pumped that we were able to get it done because we really wanted to wanted to go out there and and play in a member guess for the first time in 11 years and and play as well as we could have and I think we did that. So, we’re going to discuss that. We also discussed Kurt Kittyama winning at the 3M Open, a crazy weekend. Um, also the Colorado Open, one of the bigger state opens in the entire United States, had a crazy finish. um which we will discuss a hard K Jim Canouse and also Mulligan Monday because it is a Monday. We don’t do a ton of episodes on Mondays anymore. So I’m sure we’ve got some mulligans in the chamber which we will also discuss. All right, let’s tee it up. [Music] [Music] Big drive energy Monday. Monday morningish. Normally this is like afternoon for you or noonish for you, but you’re up at 10:00. Up early after a long weekend. No, you’re uh you’re a decently early riser nowadays, but how uh how was the rest of your Sunday night? I know we hung out yesterday, built a resurface to deck. Pretty fun stuff after playing golf for four straight days. I wish could have made it five, but you know, you got to go back to the real world and do man [ __ ] at some point. Can’t just golf every day, right? I wish. No, dude. Honestly, I mean, the rest of my night was great. I don’t think I could have done five straight days of golf. I I think that it is pretty underrated that these guys out on the PGA Tour, no matter who they are, whether they’re super fit or they’re Harry Higs or Shane Lowry or these I don’t care who it is, it is [ __ ] hard to play that many straight days of golf regardless of what of what scenario it’s in. if it’s casual and we were we were riding the whole time, but just like the physical toll that it takes on your back for the most part. I don’t know if you’ve had any back pain at all and I guess maybe resurfacing that deck yesterday. I feel pretty good physically. Um, but it is just it’s kind of a grind like but I think the other side of it too is you feel like you can get into such a groove um because you’re just hitting so many golf shots that you know when you play 18 holes once a week or once every two weeks you have one or two bad holes and you’re just pissed off and that that’s really you know kind of all you get. But when you play 72 holes the bad shots kind of come out in the wash and so do the good you know you’re going to hit good shots. you know, you’re going to hit some bad shots, so you you kind of just take it for what it is more. Um, but other than that, uh, I I slept really good last night. I now I know what it all these guys when we used to run our member guests and all that. Like by the third day, I think uh I didn’t really understand how they felt, but now I understood because I just felt sleepd deprived. I obviously we were drinking um and it I just was I feel like I almost need to ease my way down. You can’t just completely jump off the horse and you know [ __ ] land on your face. So had a couple drinks last night just to ease my way down off of uh off the weekend. And it was also weird because with the member guest being Thursday, Friday, Saturday, I had not yesterday did not feel like a Sunday at all. I don’t know what day it felt like, but it just didn’t feel like a Sunday to me. Um, so I’m I’m just kind of discombobulated in general. But overall, great great weekend. It was a lot of fun. And obviously, we’ll get into it more, but anything on on your evening yesterday or I mean, we this is the most time we’ve spent together in a good, you know, handful of years. So, of me, are you like I honestly felt like it kind of brought us together a little bit. We did have a few points, a few boiling points obviously between us, which will happen in any team golf match. But, uh, what what are your thoughts? It was a lot of spending time with you. It’s been it’s been a hot minute since I spent like five plus hours a day with you four days in a row. Uh, but no, I think I think our tune would be different and would have been different towards the end of Sunday if we hadn’t just basically balled the [ __ ] out and done everything that we said we were going to do and set out to do. I think if we would have lost or we would have played terrible on one of the days and not fully kind of re not reached our potential. You can always play better, but we definitely could have we were probably like 80 to 90% of our potential on that. And we out, you know, overexceeded our expectations on what we said we’re going to shoot. You know, we we wanted to win it. We didn’t know what the scores were going to look like cuz as you mentioned yesterday, we were bringing knives to a gunfight and we somehow came out on top with having zero handicaps and no gross scores at all. It was completely net event. So, I think it was a great weekend. I did fully not drink at all yesterday. Hey, I went to Jazz in the Park at City Park last night and just sat there in the grass and tried to [ __ ] I’ve also got my mulligan of the week, which I’ll get to at the end, but it’s just kind of ruining my my last couple of days here. Um, ever since yesterday, I guess you should say like last 24 hours have been pretty ruined by this mulligan of the week. But I didn’t drink yesterday and I don’t think I plan on drinking at all today. That could change by 5:00 rolling around. But kind of going to do a little cleanse for a few days and then maybe hop back into it. But overall just a fun weekend and shout out to you know the Tommy and Dave the pros at Inverness and all the dudes we met. I think you know obviously winning the tournament was great but I think you know got some when I say lifelong friends that’s maybe a little bit of like an overshoot of what it is but I actually have some friends at the club now because I’ve played there for a year and a half and haven’t really met anyone. It’s due to me, you know, it’s my fault. If it if if we were these roles were reversed and you were the one with the membership, you’d have [ __ ] 30 friends at the club because you’d be playing and meeting up and hanging out for beers and stuff. And I kind of just go out and play with whoever’s on the sheet at the time I need to play and then kind of get out of there. So, it’s Didn’t you Didn’t you make friends with those two like 12-year-olds that you played with a couple weekends ago? Oh, yeah. They Yeah. Dano Dan do um well well so let me say this and this was just a big fauxpaw on I think my at least for me personally I don’t know how you felt but when we signed up for this I had no clue and I don’t know if they had known what the format was going to be but I had no idea it was net only I had no idea what the format was basically any logistics of what was going on with the event I had no idea idea and I just didn’t really even think twice about it. You know, I thought it would be pretty standard and I would say it was relatively standard. Um, but other than the fact that we played a scramble round, which, you know, isn’t a part of every member guess I would say, but then we also played a mod modified alternate shot round, which, you know, I would rather probably play those three different formats than just play three days of best ball because three days of best ball, I mean, obviously golf is fun, but three days of just your own ball, just grinding it out, it’s not as fun, I would say, as switching formats every day. and and you kind of have to switch your strategy, you know, it doesn’t just make it to where you’re focused on your own shot the whole time. You really do have to rely on both teammates. And that’s where it kind of honestly now thinking about it, that’s where maybe it came out of the wash a little bit. Um because if you, you know, I think the first flight, what was the highest combined handicap? Maybe 16, 18 combined was or maybe 14, something like that. Um, but those guys can get away if it’s a three-day baseball, you know, and they’re combined 10. If they’re getting, you know, five, six shots a day, but they have a dude who’s a two or a three and he plays well, then there’s a good chance that they’re going to win because of all the strokes that they’re getting. But with it being the the alternate shot on day three, you really had to have both guys bring it relatively speaking because it all kind of came out in the wash in the alternate shot and I mean we’ve watched PJ Tour players play alternate shot and those guys will shoot over par. Like alternate shot is one of the toughest formats because you’re you’re somehow trying to mesh two people’s games together that sometimes do not jive whatsoever and sometimes they do. And shockingly enough for for you and I honestly I I was shocked at how well it worked out for us because our games are pretty polar opposites as well. I would say u but you just kind of you you just hung in there like this is you did exactly what I wanted you to do. There was a few times where I had to kind of talk you off a cliff because I I don’t know. I’m just going to pat myself on the back. I kept the vibes relatively good. There was at no point was I like bitching you out for anything. And I will also say that you played good enough golf to where I didn’t feel the need to like grab you by the head and [ __ ] shake you. Um, you hit a lot of really really good shots. Like I And we’ll get into it because I kind of want to grade each other’s game. I think that would be a fun exercise. Uh, but I tried to keep the vibes pretty high. um through nine holes of the scramble in round one, you were about as low as as as low as you got all weekend. Like you were in a kind of a bad way. Um you were not super happy about the way things were going. And I was like, “Dude, let’s just switch up the vibe.” And you’re like, “We’re we [ __ ] suck.” like you basically got in my face and I’m like dude you need to [ __ ] dial that back because the scramble is one of those where you know and luckily we didn’t run out of holes but we were two under through nine and then nine under through our you know 11 under total so nine under on our second nine and it’s just with a scramble it’s so easy to just even just for the two of us and we’re obviously both good players but if you just make one putt and see one go in It can completely change up the entire momentum of it. And you knocked in that putt on 12. Uh was it 12 that we made that first birdie and kind of kind of flipped it or am I We started on Yeah, 12. We started on four. So it was like eight holes. The first eight holes we were one under par in the scramble and I was dog cussing us. I was And you know the thing is is I I wanted to win the tournament obviously. That’s why you [ __ ] enter in the tournament. Um, but I didn’t want to come on here win the game. I didn’t want to come on to this podcast and and not say that we didn’t win. Like there’s multiple like if we would have played the way we played or even a few shots worse and we didn’t win, I’d said, “Okay, we just got beat.” But I didn’t want to go out there and [ __ ] [ __ ] myself and have us [ __ ] ourselves um fake ass PGA Pro um you know blank ass podcast on and drop on this and be like shitty content shitty content. Just we’re just bringing shitty content. I didn’t want to get on this and be like ah we we [ __ ] shot four under in a twoerson scramble and then we shot even par in a best ball and then we shot a couple over and alternate shot. I just didn’t want to do that because I there there’s some pride there. And granted, I don’t practice enough. I don’t play enough. I I have been playing a little more leading up to this, but I I didn’t want to just have to get on this podcast and say that we [ __ ] the bed and got beat by a couple of dudes that we didn’t know and they just ran, you know, ran us under the table. turned turned out we actually kind of flipped the script even having a oneshot deficit on sun going into Saturday which by the way you were like you were saying um elite I it was elite to have it end on a Saturday and have a Sunday off or not off but like still not go back to work but still but you know you can go home and do the family stuff or we went did a barbecue, built a deck, whatever. like those things that made it feel a lot better than like finishing on a Sunday and I would had to wake up this morning and go to work and I would have been like nah [ __ ] that would have been yeah even winning the even winning the tournament you’d still have the Sunday scaries and be like [ __ ] I got to go to go to the office tomorrow all this um but yes we I I would totally agree we played up relatively close to our potential and that’s all I wanted as well I didn’t I I figured if we played well we would win Um, but you you just never know. Um, and that’s part of my mulligan of the week that I’ll get into later. But, uh, I just wanted to go out and play well. And if we got beat, I I didn’t want to beat ourselves. If we got beat, then that’s, you know, totally fine. Um, if we just played like dog [ __ ] I would Yes, I would be pissed off. Let me let me uh I’ll run through the the days for everyone just because they want to hear it. They want to hear the shot for shot. I know you love hearing that from me, but at least it’s our team game. We won’t go shot for shot, but long story short, we parted a lot of holes on Thursday, which was the first round scramble, twoman scramble. Partred a lot of holes and got to 12, which would have been our eighth hole. And I made a birdie putt and we were feeling a little we were feeling good. And then we went on to birdie 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 in a row. White hot. We get to 18. We got four holes left. We’re sitting at a good spot. I still wanted to get to 10 under. And what does your boy do? He cans it from the fairway on 18 from 90 89 yards. And I hit it and I was like, ah, that’s going to be pretty good. And we go up there and the guys are like, I think it’s in. And every time you think it’s in, I I’ve I mean, it’s happened to me 50 times in my life plus. I thought it was in or I was like, it has a good chance to be in. And then I see a ball in the back of the green or it’s in the rough and I’m like, [ __ ] So humbling. Yeah, there’s nothing more humbling than checking the hole and your ball’s 20 yards off the back of the green. You’re like, “What kind of idiot am I?” But was actually in the bottom of the cup, which was You didn’t even I I’m kind of disappointed you didn’t celebrate a little better. You were I think you were more just like shocked, but 100%. Cuz shots like that don’t happen to me in tournament play. Like I can go out and [ __ ] around and hole out for eagle, but usually when I’m playing in a tournament, I’ve got I’ve got [ __ ] watertight cheeks and I’m not hitting that that good of shots. But I think I will say though, I just want I’m going to cut you off for just a minute and and totally give you props cuz maybe you’ve in the 11 years that we’ve you know, you haven’t played competitive golf in forever really. Um, and I haven’t played a whole lot of it either, but you were completely like, and I don’t know if it was the booze, cuz the last time we did this, we weren’t even old enough to drink. Like, we were [ __ ] Tom Kim, Aldrick Pock Eater [ __ ] We couldn’t even drink. um while everybody else was for sure on the sauce, but uh I think that you have maybe have turned a corner with your ability to like you don’t get so like at least this weekend it didn’t feel like you got so defensive. you stayed aggressive and you had the mindset of like let’s go [ __ ] make birdie here, not oh don’t blow it into the [ __ ] hazard, you know, cuz that that’s always kind of been your golf mentality. And I feel like you’ve now turned a corner to maybe being kind of a clutch player. Like you hit a lot of I know and I I am going to give you your flowers because I think you played pretty [ __ ] clutch. Like obviously it takes two to win an event, but that is the type of thing that I definitely couldn’t have won on my own and obviously I don’t think either of us could have won it on our own, but if you weren’t playing to the level that you were playing at, I I think we would have been hosed. So I got to give you your your flowers because you uh Yes. And hit the bow. Um you just played your ass off, dude. And you we hung in there. There was a a Well, you can go back to the um kind of the shot forshot type of deal, but I will say and you you tell me this. I think we played pretty damn good. We could have played a little better Thursday. Friday was probably our worst round. Like we never really got it going Friday and then Saturday we played our asses off. Like I would say we had one decent round, two very good rounds. We probably could have shot, you know, six under, eight under on the best ball and we just didn’t. But then we fire three under gross on an alternate shot when nobody I think I think even gross we beat everybody by eight or nine just on the alternate shot. So uh we we had a couple really good days in one pretty solid day. Yeah. And and then we get to so we flip on the round on Thursday. We flip back to one. So we have three holes left. And one, two, and three are really tough holes at Iness. Like starting on four was elite. I want to start on four in every tournament I play. And at first I was like, damn, four. Um, but starting on four, we turned it into a positive. So then we’ve we’ve made seven birdies in an eagle in a row. We go and birdie one, you knock in a clutch putt, and then we get to two and we both hit it next to the green, or one of us hits it next to the green. We both flub a chip. We both completely flub the chip from the rough also into the rough about four feet in front of us. And then I go up there, I [ __ ] yank the flag out, and I just chip it in. And I would, that doesn’t happen to me either. Those three holes back to back to back, I was like out. It was an out-of- body experience for me. And then you almost rolled in a deuce on on the last hole. Just missed it. I did roll in a deuce. I made it. Oh, no. Yeah, you did. Did we not birdie one then? The days are running. I think we did not make birdie. We both had like 12 feet and we both missed that cuz we went n our streak. the one par of the last nine that we made and it was on a 370 yard par4 that we you know like I it’s just one of those where you birdie your eagle the really tough hles and then you stare a [ __ ] straight baby dog leg left that you basically could have like hit driver 30 yards off the green but you just have a weird vibe with that hole. Um I I don’t mind that hole as much as you do. Uh, but it feels like off the tea for you, it’s just a little bit of a bugaboo. Um, I I would say I probably hit better T- shots off that hole, but then yes, when you chipped in, I was like, this dude is I I don’t know who replaced my brother with a different human being, but this was not this is generally not Spencer’s game. Um, but then yeah, you uh was it you or me that hit it to like I think I was the one who hit it to like 10 feet on three and then knocked in the birdie on three. Um, and we just finished it on a very high note. Uh, the also I got to say the vibes day one, Chase and Mike, two awesome dudes. We had an absolute blast with them. And it is kind of funny too because some dudes think that like they know how to drink and play golf and that they can like bury somebody by out drinking them and getting them drunk. And I think they realized very quickly that we hit them with the Uno reverse card because we just got even better as we drank more. like we we were just in this zone of not giving a [ __ ] just swinging freely, knocking in putts, hitting it close, and they I mean, maybe they got a little too [ __ ] up. I don’t know cuz I think we about as much as there’s a group of about six to 10 dudes that definitely are in the category of too [ __ ] up at the end of it. Both all three days. I was just like, “Yeah.” Oh, for sure. Dude, I can’t really talk to you right now. And then they were trying to You’re making me dumber. Yes. I like I was like a five or six out of 10 drunk and I’m like, “Wow, I feel sober.” It’s like when you hang out when you’re at the bar with your buddy who’s blacked out and you’re trying to get him home and you’re kind of drunk, but you don’t feel drunk because they’re so drunk. You’re like, “Wow, I I feel pretty good about myself right now.” But it was funny because I think they reached a point in the round where you could kind They were panicking a little bit. They start hitting it super crooked. They were Mike kind of went uh mute a little bit. He was not really talking much. He was just kind of [ __ ] hitting driver right, hitting it left. And you and I were just striping it all over the place on the back nine. So, cuz they told us, I didn’t mention, but they told us they’re like, “Our plan was to get you guys drunk and hopefully, you know, [ __ ] up your game.” Um, and then that just went the opposite way that they thought it would. Uh, but the vibes were great that day. We had a had a really good time with them. and then go get into day two a little bit because day two is honestly the most forgettable round I would say. Um neither of us did anything. We held it together. I mean what did we make a bogey one bogey? Yeah we we bogeied 11. So we started on 10 the second day. Oh yes par 10 bogeied 11 because I three putted and you were in ball in pocket or you hit it into a tough spot where you couldn’t I almost chipped it in for par but I just Yeah. It was then super tough pin on 11. uh the first two days for sure and I three-wacked it. Just hit one way too far out to the right and way too hard, which happened to me a few times uh during the week, which greens were in such good condition, but they were if you mishit a putt either too hard or or too soft or not online, it it was not only not going in, it’s leaving a knee knocker of a six-footer. It’s not like I’m comfortable enough on those greens to mishit putts and be like a foot away. I gave us a lot of a lot of knee- knocking ones, especially in the alternate shot. But yeah, we bogeied the second hole and then just kind of kept it together and made birdies when they showed up. I think I birdied 13. Uh and then we kept just making pars and then I birdied six. I want to say I birdied one and two. Oh, you birdied one and two. That’s where Yep. That’s where we like got to the nine holes again. We got through nine holes at at even par and we’re like, “Fuck sake, what are we doing here?” And uh one birdie, one bogey, and then No, wait. Did we Yeah. Did we make it 10 through 18 at one birdie, one bogey? Yes. And then I birdied one, I birdied two, you birdied um what did you make birdie on? Oh, six. Did you birdie six? Six. You And what else? And uh did you birdie seven? No, we birdied one other hole. Did you birdie four? I can’t remember. I remember missing a birdie putt on. Yes, you did knock in like I think like a 10footer for birdie down the hill on four. Oh, okay. So birdie four. Yeah. Four and six. Yeah, we went through a sixhole stretch. We were cooking. 789 was a little sketchy. I blew my drive out of bounds on nine, which funny. You know, there’s a couple stories to come out of this outside of the golf, but this one I blew my drive, which most likely was out of bounds on nine. I had a very clear distinct ball mark, a red. I was like coloring the titalist on my ball red. No free shout outs title prov1, but that is the best ball in golf. And I go up there and I see a ball that’s in the general vicinity of where my ball could have been, but I thought it was more out of bounds. But you can get weird kicks off trees. There’s a lot of trees up there, whatever. So I go up and I start like kind of sizing up the shot, which was actually completely [ __ ] So it didn’t make me feel as bad. Like I would It was directly behind the tree. Like it was Yeah, it was like two feet directly behind a tree. And I was like, “I don’t think like I know this is my golf ball, but there was a kid picking range balls on the range about 30 ft from us.” And I’m like, “Hey.” I’m like yelling at this kid. I’m like, “Did you throw this over here?” Thinking he would say, “No, man. I didn’t touch it.” And he did. He actually had thrown it over there. So thank God I didn’t play it. You had to play two off the tea. ended up finding your first ball, which was lucky. Uh, and we made par and just kind of got out of there. But yeah, Friday was a a very mediocre day for us in a best ball. And and it kind of goes to show like we shot one shot less in an alternate shot than we did in a best ball, which I think I don’t remember our predictions exactly, but either way, I think we were four or five shots over on our alternate shot prediction wise than we were on our best ball, and they ended up being a one-shot difference. So, I think that was the key. And then yeah, going into Sunday or Saturday, [ __ ] Going into the final day, uh we start on 18, which is a pretty tough driver hole, but if you hit one good, you you can be in a good spot. It just kind of doesn’t set up for my eye as well. And I kind of wiped one and put you in a tough spot because it was a modified alternate shot. So, we both hit T- shots, choose the best one, and then alternate from there. But you hit a good drive, just rolled into the the second cut of rough. I I gotta I’m going to pause you for just one second. If I have one gripe about Inveress, it is the lack of toilets available to the general public. Uh because that is just something that before every round of golf, I need to use the restroom. Like that’s just flat out it is what it is. And one of the one of the two available toilets to the public cuz you couldn’t let me into the locker room. You were off somewhere um doing something. I don’t know. Uh I couldn’t get into the locker room. So the one bathroom near the pro shop was being cleaned and so that left me with one stall in this other bathroom that was occupied and and then we were kind of getting ready to go, you know, it was an 8:30 start, but at 8:15 they’re like, okay, you know, everybody in your carts were and I’m like, [ __ ] I thought we had 10 more minutes. Like, I got to go to the bathroom. So on the 18T, I was standing there like, God. Luckily, we started on 18 because I knew I was like, just play one hole, [ __ ] get through it, and then I can run in and use the restroom. But I did hit a good T-OT. Uh, good enough at least. And then you just [ __ ] clutched up, hit a a perfect sandwich to six inches. I run tap it in, take the cart, and head up to the [ __ ] clubhouse. So, it was pretty much the easiest first hole. We We couldn’t have had it any easier, especially for that like front right pin on 18. That is a a flag that in all honesty there was a few T- shots that we were lucky enough that it rolled into the first cut because out of the fairway there was balls, you know, there’s so many points where you could rip the ball off the green where you see it disappear and then reappear. And that was one of those where I felt like if you would had full sand wedge in out of the fairway, it probably would have [ __ ] just ripped right back off the front. But you hit it perfect to six inches, I tapped it in. Um, and then I immediately had to go hit the head after that. Yeah. Hit. Yeah, you were hitting something hitting the back of the bowl if you’re up there. I was like, “Oh, [ __ ] I’m like waiting on the tea.” The guys don’t want to take our box. Like, we were very cool. Played with the same guys, Mike and Ben, the second two days, which was a blast, but they didn’t want to take the box after us making birdie, which we were down one shot to them going into S Saturday. And flipped the script cuz they made bogey on the first hole and we made birdie. So we were up one immediately after that um after the first hole. And so that felt really good to kind of come out firing. But then you came out firing in at the bathroom stall and I was standing on the first tea like waiting for you to [ __ ] get there so we could hit our t-shots. Luckily, funny enough, I mean, you stood there for 10 minutes sizing up that T-shot and you still skank a [ __ ] thin fiveiron out there like some dog [ __ ] I’m like, “Dude, you and Okay, dude, the longer I Well, yeah, we need to address your [ __ ] milking it and your slow play because the longer it [ __ ] takes me to hit a ball, the worse it’s going to be every single time. See, I disagree. I I think you’re I think you just want to get it over with. I don’t think that’s fair. I don’t think it’s going to make it better if you play quick. I don’t I just think that if whether it’s good or bad, it’s fast. Like I which I respect out of you, but dude, I mean I was, you know, pretty deep in the liquor and I needed to focus. Like I needed to breathe a little bit. I needed to dial it in and I did. And in all honesty, like we didn’t play slow. Like there was the second day we were [ __ ] slow. The second day the fact that we started with a hole in front of us and never even saw caught up the group to the group in front of us was a bad choice. That was that I would have I would have uh [ __ ] gotten on that group 100%. Well, I was going to say we didn’t get talked to once, so I don’t uh We kind of did have somebody bird dogging us on Saturday, that old dude. I don’t know if he just wanted to watch our [ __ ] incredible golf shots or if he was actually like telling us to speed up, but Saturday we could Oh, no. No. He was the most that Marshall is the most like non-self-aware human being I’ve ever seen. We had a group on the green in front of us and we were on the tee and he told us we needed to speed it up. Like that’s and Mike and then I proceed I proceed to drive basically the green. Mitchell had putter in hand other than the fact that there was a sprinkler in front of him. Yeah. Exactly. So it wasn’t at no point were we completely out of position. Could I have played faster? Yes. I would have played worse if I played faster. I guarantee it. Like that is just something for me. Spencer forgot his sunglasses unfortunately out at our mom’s house. don’t have them. So, you have to see my [ __ ] my eyes. My butthole eyes. You look like Pete Davidson. You look surprisingly surprisingly fine for uh what we went through this weekend. Yeah. I will say when I woke up Friday morning cuz Thursday night, drank a little bit, I woke up, my eyes were like [ __ ] swollen shut. Like I haven’t don’t drink that much anymore, but when I do drink and then I wake up the next day, wow, my shit’s swollen shut. But let’s get back to Yeah, we we won’t talk about too much about you milking it, but Mitchell Mitchell was definitely milking it on the tea box. He’d set up to For those of you who don’t know what milking it means, it means I was basically regripping it like two to three times. Not a full regrip, just like grab the club, let go. It was It’s It was a Keegan Bradleyesque. That’s how I feel comfortable. That’s how I get comfortable. I will also say that I bought a new glove on Thursday and it I ripped it in half by the middle of the day Friday. So it also a lot of the times I’m not [ __ ] you. It does have to do with the glove feel like if the glove is too tacky, if the glove is like sweaty, if it it has to be like in a a good spot in my left hand. Um but yes, I hand up. I could play quicker, but I also didn’t want to play bad golf. So, I just I would rather take my time and play well. Like, yeah, if I’m out there shooting 97, you can MF I I would expect to get laughed off that course. But if we’re, you know, playing good golf and I’m taking my time a little bit, then I do not give a single [ __ ] what anyone has to say when I’m whooping their ass like, you know, that that’s just that just looks like sour grapes. If if we’re up by six and they’re like, “Well, you need to speed it up.” Well, you need to [ __ ] get it in the hole quicker. How about that? like that, you know, that’s an option as well. So, but yes, I uh to round it out, I need to probably fix my my gripping issue. It’s it’s just a mental thing. It’s uh it’s a it’s a trigger deal for me. So, yeah, it’s just fair. Uh but like I said, the more I stand over it, the worse my golf shot gets. Generally, like the less I can think about it, the better. One more thing. What I didn’t need was you giving me [ __ ] about my slow play when I’m trying to weather the storm for us when you’re going through a a low a relatively low spot. You at no point did you completely get off the rails. But there there’s no like, oh, I need to [ __ ] talk my teammate when I have my ball and when I blow it into the [ __ ] water off the tea on 16 and I’m standing over it like shaking like a dog [ __ ] in a peach pit. And I really at no point was I that at ever that nervous. But there is a few T- shots out there where and not even a few a lot of the T- shots you do not really have a a whole wide area to miss it. Like you you have to step up and hit a pretty good T- ball. And that’s where I was like dialing in on my target and my my shot shape. I was just [ __ ] laser focused. I felt I felt like I uh was kind I was trying to get in the zone, you know, and I feel like I was relatively achieving zone. Yeah. you were zoning. Uh yeah, so Sunday after we eagled or birdied one, tap and birdied one. Mitch went and birdied, made birdie on two. Uh good drive. I hit an approach shot in there. You’re talking Saturday. One Friday. Yeah. No, Friday. I’m talking Saturday. You birdied one. Their second hole. Yes. But you said we birdie. You just said we birdied two. We bogei two. I meant to say our second hole. That’s what I meant. We went to one our our second hole. So, we’re two under in a [ __ ] alternate shot through two holes. And I’m like, “Fuck, we can make 16 pars and I’d be thrilled with where we’re at.” We get to 3T, which if you played Inveress, uh, you know what? Or three, [ __ ] You We get to 2T. God damn it. Our third hole, 2T. And if you played Inveress, you know what that hole’s like. Tough par five. Can’t really I can’t really hit driver, especially from the T’s we played. And Mitchell hit driver. We both hit it right. And if you hit it a little bit right in the fairway, it bounces more right. And honestly, the low point I think of our day on S Saturday was after you hit your T-OT on three on the third hole when you when you hit it in the water cuz two we made a mess of two. We only we had two chances at a punch shot. We took Mitchell’s was a little easier. So I punched it I punched it across the fairway and and in hindsight I should have just hit it 30 yards out and giving you given you like 180 yards in. It wouldn’t have been or the option was to just punch it like 100 and not hit it 160. Well, yeah. So, I punch it I punch it straight under another [ __ ] tree, which causes Mitchell to have to hit it, no joke, 10 feet forward. That’s the only shot he had. Hit it even more close to the out of bounds fence up the hill. Which, by the way, I was like looking at that fence like if I hood this wedge and try to get, you know, you get a little like quick at impact, I could have [ __ ] snap hooked a 20 yard wedge OB and that would have been a low point in in my golfing life. Yeah, we we could have easily made nine on the second hole, our third hole of the day. He hits it 10 feet forward. I hit like a a gap wedge from 135 yards in the rough just over the green uh on the fringe. You almost make a complete massive snake, which would have taken our momentum through the roof. But we didn’t make we didn’t make double. I tap in for bogey and then yeah, we get to the third hole. You hit it in the water and I’m like, “Oh, [ __ ] We just made bogey. We’re only one under now. These guys made par on the last hole. They got a shot on us. We got to do something. And I I stepped up and hit a pretty clutch uh clutch pitching wedge right over the flag. And then we kind of just made a bunch of pars the rest of the day. I think we sprinkled a birdie or two in there. Six. We bird six. Yeah. You hit it to like a foot. I almost tried I tried to miss it, but I didn’t. Um and then we just kept making pars all the way through. I think that was And then we made Oh, and then we made one other birdie on 13. You hit it to like four feet. I knocked it in. Yeah. And I And while you gave me my flowers, I’ll give you your flowers. I left you. Some of the shots were tougher. The shot on 11 that I kind of almost absolutely [ __ ] the dog and kept us in the rough again on a chip. I got you on the green. Had about 10 ft for par. You made it. And then on 16, I blew one way past. And at that point, we think we have it in the bag, but you just never know because we we were definitely beating the pants off the guys we played with who were ahead of us, but there were three or four teams within three shots of us starting the day. And you have no clue where they’re at. So, we didn’t want to have a complete meltdown the last few holes. And I hit one 10 to 12 feet past on this putt. Just completely [ __ ] have a seizure mid mid putt, apparently. And you go, you step up and knock it in. So, you were definitely the most clutch in terms of with the putter. I made a few long ones in the the best ball like on six that was like a long birdie putt that was kind of got us momentum a little bit but overall you definitely held us together with the flat stick on Saturday the final day and really kept it going for us in terms of like we didn’t ever lose we never gained a ton of momentum but we also never lost it. We never went to a place where it was like a bad spot where we made one or two bogeies in a row and it just feels like you get on a literal bogey train and can’t make par. And that’s never fun. I’ve been there many a time on my own ball, so I I don’t want to be there in a team event. I did feel like by the middle of the round on Saturday, I was pretty dialed in with almost everything. The driver felt good. I hit some clutch T- shots coming down the stretch as well on Saturday. Um, particularly 16 was probably the biggest one, just hitting that one in the middle of the fairway because I think you were in the water, right? And I probably could have hit less than driver at that point, but it’s not a short hole. It’s, you know, what is it? 580, 590. Like, it’s not short. So, you can’t hit one 240 off the tee and then, you know, I’m asking you to hit a a 250, 260 yard shot just to lay it up to put it in a a decent spot. So, I stepped up, hit a clutch drive there. But, dude, the flat stick just felt so good. I was seeing, like I said, I was taking a little extra time, but I the setup felt good. I was just seeing the line. I knocked in probably six or seven like pretty like could have gone either way type of putts. You know what I mean? Exactly. You you could have we could have easily had four or five bogeies on the card if you wouldn’t clutch up and and make some par putts. So, but there was also a few shots that I could have left you in a better spot where you didn’t like 16. I totally just [ __ ] it. We had 80 yards. We had backto back terrible shots after really after backto-back perfect shots. The T-shot and my five iron up to the green. We had backtoback. Your wedge shot in there was like a complete meltdown scenario and then I made it worse by putting it 15 feet past. Oh well, and I I haven’t even mentioned that I did find my old sand wedge. So I had my old sand wedge in the bag. My cow it was a the jaws 54 degree. But now my my sandwich I left in New Jersey is 56 instead of 54. W’s in the chat. Um, so I was with it was kind of a mind [ __ ] because I put the 54 degree in the bag, but it in reality it was not a big enough gap between my that my gap wedge and my my sand wedge because especially between that and the altitude like I felt like I couldn’t hit that 54 soft enough and you know you’re a little juiced up. So I take like what feels like a a half swing with a sand wedge and it flies 95 yards like that. That is how hard that that’s basically a full sandwich for me at sea level. So just for me, especially out of the fairway for it to and maybe it jumped a little bit. It was sitting in the first cut, I guess, and it was kind of sitting down, but it just [ __ ] flew out of there like crazy. And so that was on me like I put you in a bad spot and you know, you hit it past the hole, but then all is all is well that ends well. So, but you there was a few putts where especially on 17, our last hole of the day when we’re just trying to make par and get it in. Spencer’s got like a 12 foot downhill left to righter and just tow jams the [ __ ] out of it. Misses the hole by like two feet left and hits it like three feet by and I got a little knee knocker cuz it was kind of downhill right to left to to finish it off. And you know, luckily, I mean, we did not know what position we were in. And I think honestly, we were better off that way. Uh because if I would have known we had a two-h shot lead with that uh when I had that putt on 16, I probably would have not stepped up and hit it as confidently as I did because I just kind of saw it and had the line and and knocked it in. But uh yeah, it I I’m Hey, we we did it, dude. We got it done. I know it’s you know, it’s not the [ __ ] Olympics. It’s not this. It’s not a the US Open. It’s not the USGA4 ball. But I think we just showed ourselves that we still got it. We can we can go out, you know, a couple dudes who don’t practice near as much as they used to and go out and just play some [ __ ] good golf together and and just really like lean on each other. Like it it sounds corny, but we there was times during the alternate shot where it’s just there’s no more helpless feeling in golf. like, well, if my teammate hits a bad one here, you know, like what what the [ __ ] am I going to do? So, you just kind of you got to pump each other up. You gotta keep it positive. And I and we did that, dude. Like the a 67 even modified alternate shot where you both had T- shots and take the take the better T- shot. I don’t care what kind of alternate shot it is, an underpar alternate shot is [ __ ] impressive. So, I I I doth our my cap to ourselves on that round for sure. Yeah. Yeah, we balled out. Um, let’s get to a few things real quick about uh off the course of the event. So, Kolkata on Thursday night after the scramble round was quite interesting. That’s my mulligan of the week. That’s Oh, we won’t get too much into it, but basically this guy undressed us as teams were bidding on us and um had a few things to say about our podcast and our content. I went up to him at the bar alone and asked if he had a [ __ ] problem. Uh it turns out he did have a problem in fact but uh we kind of got past it. It was it was a shocking moment. I was kind of taken back by the whole scenario but we got past it. Still won the event and that’s why haters were furious when we were getting awarded the trophy at the end of the round on Saturday. Let me say this. I didn’t see him hang hang hang hanging around much you know after that whole situation. I didn’t he didn’t stay I don’t think for the casino night. He didn’t stay for the the trophy ceremony. He, you know, I think he realized what he did um in the moment. And you know, good for you cuz everybody [ __ ] up. You know, it happens, but you could have done it in a better in a better way. And what Yeah. And we weren’t completely in the wrong either or completely in the right either. So, we understand that. And if you’re listening out there, we do apologize for, you know, how you felt about what we did. It wasn’t that big of a deal in our eyes. And it wasn’t um we weren’t didn’t make it to be what you made it out to be for sure. It was definitely not intentional in that that uh instance, but whatever. Met some cool dudes. Had a casino night on Friday night after the round. They did the one of those fake money casinos where you got 500 bucks a piece and just tried to get as many chips as you could um in order to win some prizes. So that was fun. A guy hit a $100 bet on a number on the roulette wheel on the last spin black 22. So, shout out to him. I think he took home the prizes for that. But overall, yeah, just a great tournament. Got some good Adidas gear out of it. Got a sick Inverous towel out of it, which I’m pretty pumped about. I love that style of of towel. I told uh Amy, the lady that works there, like they make shirts like this, so get us some Inverish shirts like that. Pretty hype. Uh got a Bushnell Wingman out of it. So, overall, you know, lunches, dinners, beers covered. It was a great great tournament and feels even better to talk about it after a dub. And we’ve got some engraved whiskey sets that are going to go I’m going to leave it in the box until I get moved into my new place and then I’m going to drop that right in the [ __ ] living room. See what my wife thinks about it real quick. Put it right on the mantle before we move on. Yeah, put it up on the mantle with some good whiskey in it. Uh let’s give each other and we don’t need to elaborate any further, but grade my game and I’ll grade your game from the weekend. Let’s let’s get a little more in depth. I’m going to grade each piece of your game. So, we grade off the tea, approach shots, chip. Well, chipping we don’t really have to grade too much. And then putting We just hit a million greens. Off the tea, I’ll give you an A minus. There was a lot of A+ shots. A few that [ __ ] that weren’t great and just very out of character for you. I know you’re working on some things. So, A minus with the the uh driver and then you’re getting to like a B maybe B minus for the approach shots. You know, granted, I’ll give you a little I’ll give you a little grace because you came from sea level and didn’t haven’t played a ton of golf in Colorado recently. So, a lot of the wedge shots, you weren’t necessarily sand wedge as well, which is my fault, but forgetting your sand wedge in a different state is start starting off with an L. And then your putting, I’m giving you an A+. I I don’t think there was really much you did wrong any putt that you hit on the greens. So, did did we did we we didn’t three putt once? Um, I did and that resulted in our bogey on 11 in the best ball. I don’t think I three putted one time, which is pretty shocking considering the first day on at this during the scramble I could not Well, you didn’t three putt when it mattered. Let’s put it that way. Because there was a few holes where I was in for par and you probably would have made bogey if you three, but it didn’t matter on the best ball. But yeah, like you didn’t three putt when it mattered. I three putted when it mattered 100%. Um, yeah. No, that’s totally fair. the I would even say the T-ball was maybe a B+, you know, like I I hit some real wonky ones, but when it was good, it was very good and I hit hit some clutch ones. Um, for you, I would say driving probably an A. You drove the ball super well. You hit some huge T- shots that gave us a big advantage. Uh, iron shots, I would say, also an probably an A. The par threes were probably a weak point for you. Um, did not uh everything highlight, dude. Except for the one time you you splashed one and then I dialed it in. But every other one was just a highlight [ __ ] [ __ ] shot. The iron the the the wedges for you were dialed like you were I’ve never seen you more dialed with a sand wedge, but when it was going to like a mid iron or a short iron, I did not feel as comfortable because I did it just didn’t seem like you were committing to it. So, I’d give I’d give your irons a B B midb B+ and then your putting I would say was probably like an A minus. Like you made a lot of putts that you should you could easily not made. So that’s kind like you made a couple of longer ones that gave us some momentum that I didn’t make a single like long putt the entire week. So that was you made the longer ones kind of very similar to how our game works. I was the the consistent short putter guy. that kind of knocked in the tough ones, but then you maybe missed a few ones you could have made, but then you made some ones that you easily that neither of us would have made otherwise. So, I would give your putting like an A minus. But overall, I I’d give you like a definitely a solid A, like a 95. Love that. [ __ ] yeah. I got an A from A from the boy. A from the homie. All right, let’s get into some of the other more important uh wins of this past weekend. So, we’ll start with Kurt Kittyama winning the 3M. Shout out to Kurt. Uh, last year 2024, he won the Arnold Palmer and you’re like, who the [ __ ] is this guy? And then you kind of expected him to be there. I mean, I think he jumped up to 53rd in the FedEx Cup rankings with this win here in Minnesota this past weekend. So, he’s still around, but a guy that I thought was maybe take off in 2024, but I What did you tell me? 20 birdies this weekend. He made more birdies on his own ball in two days than we did in three or about the same that we did in three days in a two-man event. So, u PGA Tour record if I’m not mistaken. Is that correct? Most birdies on a weekend by the winter since 2003. So, over 20 years. Um he the dude was just making birdies in bunches. And that is kind of his game. Um, I mean, shockingly enough, he he is a small guy, and that’s why I kind of like him because he’s he’s 5’7, a buck 70. Um, he was actually, okay, he’s he’s born in 93, so he’s 32. Um, but small dude, and if you look at his stats, he is really good at almost everything besides putting. His strokes gained total for the year is 30th on tour. His strokes gained off the tea is 12th. And the dude just I don’t know what he’s got, but he bombs the [ __ ] out of it. Like he moves it pretty f pretty hard. Um yeah, he’s he’s seventh on tour in driving distance and he’s 5’7 a buck 70. Like that’s crazy. You look at the Chris Goddups, you look at, you know, I mean Rory, but I guess Rory’s kind of the same size, but we just don’t think of, you know, because Rory just naturally feels like he has always moved it. Um, but Kurt is 152nd on tour in stroke scheme putting. So, it’s maybe just one of those where, and I guess, you know, we probably could have uh predicted this a little earlier. Like, if he has a good week with the putter, then there’s a good chance he wins. Um, your eyes are darting all over the place. You okay there, Chief? Yeah, I just had somebody [ __ ] peeking in some homeless guy peeking in the window at me, I believe, and then I he started walking around towards the door. something [ __ ] watching my sex. I mean, isn’t isn’t the door locked? Yeah, theoretically, but you never know. Um, but yes, then also his driving accuracy is not great. He’s 140th off the only hits 55% of fairways, but then his overall proximity is seventh on tour. Like, he does a lot of things pretty damn well. Um, 12th in on tour in scoring average. He averages 69.43. So, I think one of the more low-key like you if you would have told me those stats of Kirk Kayyama, I wouldn’t have believed, especially TA Green. The putter I’m is also kind of surprising because I thought he was a little better putter than that, but apparently the dude is just striping it and finally he had one good good solid week with the putter and he goes out and wins. You know, not the most starstudded field in the world, but still a a great W for him. Yeah. And uh another kind of viral golf story that came out of the 3M was is it Zack Blair? I might [ __ ] that name up Zach Blair. So Zack Blair, long story short, I I watched a few of the clips, didn’t see the whole video. If you guys didn’t see it, check it out on Twitter X anywhere you follow us um or follow any golf content. I’m sure it’s out there on every platform, but a guy, Zach Blair, PJ Tour player, went into a PJ tour supertore to get fit before the tournament. And I guess you can you tell the story a little bit better than I can because I didn’t watch a ton of the content, but basically went in there to get fit and then he got a lot of hate that people were [ __ ] on him for making a guy that’s doing a minimum wage job look like an idiot. And I don’t know, it just I feel like we should talk about it for a second, but it’s uh it was just a pretty funny viral thing to come out of the weekend on on the PGA tour. Yeah. I mean, I think it was from what I saw it was mostly positive stuff. I couldn’t, you know, there were probably like just like everything, there was probably some hate that came with it. But I honestly just got to say that if if you’re working at PJ Tour Supertore and you’re a club fitter, you should be able to recognize most PJ Tour players, you know, and Zach Blair is by no means the most famous tour player in the world, but he’s uh recognizable enough. And I’ve got a funny story about Zach Blair as well, but just the fact that he uh had to roll into PJ Supertore and and get fit with the driver and then the fitters it Zach goes, “What do you think my handicap is?” And the guy goes, “Oh, you’re probably about a one.” Um, which, you know, is probably about six or seven strokes off. Cuz Zach was honestly in contention pretty much the entire week. I think uh what was it? Round three. I think he had a tough round or what? What was it? Cuz Oh, okay. He shot one over in round two cuz after after round one, he was he he fired 64 round one. He wasn’t that far off and then he ended up T44 for the uh for the week. I thought he was finished a little higher up, but uh just a I thought it was pretty funny and endearing. Like Zach is truly like a good solid dude. Um he’s there I don’t think there’s any malicious uh intent behind it, but it was just pretty funny because Zach is one of the the slowest swingers on tour. He he probably I probably swing it almost as hard as he does. He’s probably hitting it or swinging it about 108 110 I would bet in that ballpark. And I guess the fitter at one point was like you need to swing more up on it to take See, you swung up on it, you took the spin off it like Zach doesn’t live on a track, man. Um, but yeah, it was just a very good good moment. And I think he went back and like hooked the dude up with tickets and had him as like a special guest for the next day. And he I mean, Zach definitely like took care of the guy and and I there’s no reason for the dude to get any hate. It’s just more of like a kind of realize if this this guy is filming this entire thing, you know, like if there’s a guy that’s there to videotape a a dude, you know, unless it’s unless you thought he was just some stupid YouTuber, you know, that was trying to make it famous. But you kind of got to realize that, oh, maybe this dude is on the PJ tour. And um Zach is is his he’s got one of the sickest short games on on tour because he just doesn’t hit it a long way. But funny story. I I I appreciated it. Um I think Zach is one of the like more well-liked dudes out there. So yeah, and I think it was just to goes to show and Zach was trying to explain that he is just not a recognizable dude. Like there’s a lot of really good golfers on the PGA Tour that you wouldn’t necessarily be familiar with if you didn’t if they didn’t walk into your PGA Tour Supertore. you’re and you’re doing a bunch of fittings probably in a day, seeing a bunch of swings, and there’s probably guys out there that you think maybe could be PGA Tour players just watching them hit the ball, but then they don’t have the rest of the game uh in order to get that high of a level in golf. So, it it was a it was a fun story just to see Zach do that and and that kind of stuff. I I it’s almost like those undercover like the Kyrie going undercover. Not as to that level, but basically the same if you’re a PGA Tour player going into a store to get fit a day before you’re playing in an event that could change your career or alter the the you know your trajectory on the PGA Tour. It’s it’s pretty insane to just go to a local spot like that. Mhm. Let’s flip switch to the Colorado. I’m getting a little switches. Switch flips to the Colorado Open. Jim Canouse Hard K wins the Colorado Open. Maybe the I think still the biggest state open in terms of purse and and winners in the entire United States. I I don’t know what happened, but the winner used to make a 100K and now it’s only 50. So, I don’t know if they lost some funding or or what went on there. I don’t know why they had to decrease the purse size. Um, but to hold out, did you see the the end of the playoff, Spencer? Did you see any highlights from it? No, I did not. He made He hauled out from like 65 yards for Eagle on 18 to basically walk off win the the whole thing. So, Oh my god. Well, and I was just looking at the leaderboard. Uh last year Jim Canals lost. We had Davis Bryant, winner of the Colorado Open on the podcast, friend of the program. Uh he beat Jim Canals in a playoff last year. Wow. So Jim Canow has got the Colorado Open dialed. Well, dude, honestly, it’s pretty funny because Can is like a somewhat of an urban legend. Like he’s he’s a very smart guy. He went to School of Mines. Uh he works at Ping. He’s a full-time like I I think like a club engineer. He he works full-time for Ping. Um so he he quote unquote retired last year and pretty similar to the Lexi Thompson retirement like they had this whole sendoff for him last year and maybe it was just like a I’m not going to try to pursue a PGA Tour card any further. Um but I definitely or was it two years ago maybe? Um, but he is definitely still playing golf at a pretty [ __ ] high level obviously cuz he and that was his first Colorado open win. And I would say, you know, having spent a, you know, my entire adult life for the most part in Colorado, he is pretty widely known as probably the best, if you know, not top two or three in Colorado in terms of players in the state. So, kind of surprising that he has not won the Colorado Open. He was on the PG tour for a period of time. Um, and it I’m just happy for the dude. It’s funny though where everyone’s like, did he really retire? Like he’s still playing in all this stuff. He’s playing in the Colorado Open. I think he’s played in some Monday qualifiers. I think he’s played in other state stuff. So maybe it’s just like a I’m taking a step back, which sounds like exactly what Lexi Thompson did. So, he’s just maybe not trying to get a PJ tour card, but it’s got to be a little awkward when you get a whole send off like this is it. This is you expect to never see the guy again and next year he’s out teeing it up in all these professional events. But clearly, he’s still got plenty of games. So, I don’t know why at any point he would uh and you know, it’s family stuff. I think it’s just the inconsistency of the income that uh not being on the PG tour. Like a lot of people just frankly do not understand how hard it is to grind on the mini tours. Like it is even if you’re making a couple hundred grand a year, you don’t know when those checks are coming. You got to play good every [ __ ] week. And I think a lot of guys just get sick of the the inconsistency of income. Like even the Cornferryy Tour, guys, you have a great year on the Cornferryy Tour. You’re making 250 grand. And don’t get me wrong, that’s great [ __ ] money, but that is like playing your balls off every week, playing the best golf on the court, like, you know, basically playing PJ Tour level golf, but not making PJ tour level money. So, it is I think a lot of guys just reach the inflection point of can I keep doing this and keep like not knowing when my next check is going to come and and that is just the epitome of pro golf, you know, unless you’re the Scotty Shefflers or Rory Maroys of the world. Even Kirk Kittyama, he probably made three or four million dollars last year and then he hasn’t made a big check since then. Like, and then he makes another big check this week. Like, it’s it is just so hit or miss for these guys. And uh so I I guess I just totally got off the rails about the Colorado Open, but it was a playoff. It looked intense. Sam Saunders was the other guy in the playoff who’s also previously been on tour. Um he’s the assistant coach for University of New Mexico. Um and then there was a couple other guys. I mean, Davis Bryant was in contention. Um a couple other there’s this kid Josh Anderson. Do you remember me telling you from the Rocky Mountain Open when I played with Danny Daniels, the English kid? one of the funniest [ __ ] I’ve ever met in my entire life. Uh, but Josh Anderson, I think he finished fifth and I actually was standing right next to him at the airport when we flew in. I was waiting in the baggage or waiting for oversized bags to grab my clubs and I could swear that I recognized him, but I didn’t say anything to him and I think he thought I was weird for like looking at him. Um, but I I kind of knew it was him and I whatever. Anyh who, he he finished like top five. He’s been on the corn ferry tour. He’s a George Genkis guy that has worked with Genkis. He’s a California guy. Um, but quite frankly, he when I played behind him, he was a pretty big douchebag. Like Danny Daniels drove it close to him a couple times. Didn’t drive I take it back. One time he drove it over the green that they were on. So that that would kind of fire you up. But then he came back and like mfed us. Like he was not happy. He he was pretty pissed off about the whole thing. And it just struck me as like a he takes himself pretty serious type of dude. Um so that was kind of a funny story. And Danny just like told him he’s like well he’s like well mate if he would have played quick I wouldn’t have had to drive the ball into you guys. Like he Danny Daniel’s just the most [ __ ] classic uh not give a single [ __ ] guy of all. If I ever see that guy out on tour, I’m going to be so [ __ ] happy because he is just a dude that truly is like strikes me as Tier Hatton very much. He even says some more egregious [ __ ] than Tier does, unless Tier’s toned it down um you know for the for the tour cameras, but some [ __ ] I heard out of Dan Daniel’s mouth cannot be repeated in pretty much any circle um on this in America at this point. So that was just I thought about Josh when I was standing next to him. I’m like you’re I wanted to be like you remember that English guy that flew the ball like right over your head and then you had a a [ __ ] fit about it. Um, but that that was just a funny story from the from a couple years ago. Uh, but stacked leaderboard for the Colorado Open. It’s every year they they put on a great event and it would have been cool to see Davis go back to back. I I mean, he’s full-time over on the European tour right now on the DP World Tour. So, for him to make the trip all the way back to Colorado to play in this, I think it is kind of a big deal because isn’t his dad’s the pro at Green Valley? Is that correct? Yeah, I believe so. Or Yeah. So I for or okay or run I think current to be honest but okay um but yeah I mean I think being the defending defending champ you know your dad’s very well connected that was kind of probably what brought him back to the states but he’s had a couple of great finishes over on the DP World Tour like he’s trending in the right direction and how cool would it be to see him like next year or two years down the road earn his PJ tour card through the DP World Tour like we’ve seen these other guys. Um, but just to go from CSU being, you know, a middle of the road player, we talked to him last year if you want to go watch his interview, to now being a a guy on the European tour who’s back, he had backto-back top 10s last month. Um, just cool [ __ ] Really cool. Really cool. I still don’t love Green Valley’s golf course. Just the It’s not the layout for me. Um, you know, and it’s maybe because I’ve never really played very good golf there, but just not my favorite golf course in the world. Yeah, 100%. I’m not a I I think there’s some better golf courses in Colorado to hold the Colorado Open at, but it’s also, you know, it’s just kind of the spot and once you have it at there’s all these spots on the PGA tour where I’m sure the players are like, “God, we got to go play this [ __ ] track.” Uh just Yeah, it’s it’s not I haven’t played well there a ton. So, that’s that partially adds to it. Yeah. Let’s uh let’s wrap up the bell end of this podcast with a mulligan Monday. Of course, we don’t do a ton of pods on Monday anymore, but we’ve got some mulligan Mondays for you as we get to the beginning of the week, and it’s nice to be um kind of sad that the weekend’s over. I got some like scaries from the weekend being over, but uh now that we’re just back to real life, it’s a mulligan Monday, and I’ll start us off with uh my mulligan Monday, which is just pretty simple. Yesterday we were building a deck for our mom and just resurfacing a deck and I decided to take my shirt off because I only had one shirt and I knew I was gonna get sweaty. So I was like, “All right, just take my shirt off and not sweat through the shirt and be sitting in a disgusting shirt the rest of the day.” And I sunburned the living [ __ ] out of my back. It’s It’s uh Dude, I was like shocked when I saw a picture of it. I was like, “Oh my god.” Like, are you in pain? Yes. Yes. A lot of pain. I’ve put some after sun on it a few times. had had my wife rub it all all over. But it’s like that hits and it’s so cold and it wearing a back wearing my son’s like diaper bag last night when we were going to the park was terrible. It hurt. I’m I’m in shambles right now. I was like put the after sun on and then I like go to get out of bed and I was like stuck to the sheets. So I like ripped my Yeah, it was not not great. So, moral of the story, I should have just went to my golf bag in the back of my truck yesterday before we started that adventure and [ __ ] had you spray the SPF 50 on me. I could wax on, wax off, wax wax you on. Um, it that being sunburnt on my back takes me back to when we were little kids and we would go to Hawaii and it felt like the first day every time we went to Hawaii. I don’t know if mom put sunscreen on us or not. Like we were I should give us sunscreen or just let us [ __ ] Yeah. Let us get torched. I think we did have sunscreen on, but when you’re in the water so much, the sunscreen just kind of wears off. Like I am if there’s one thing I’ve never done literally ever once in my life is reapplied sunscreen. I’ve put it on a million times, but I’m not like, “Oh, let me stop what I’m doing in the middle of this and put more sunscreen on.” So, that’s just not something I’m I’m good at. But that took me back to uh being a a little kid uh over in Hawaii on spring break when our backs would just be absolutely torched. Before my Mulligan Monday, I got to shout out Lahi Wde. Uh she won the Scottish Open in her her professional debut. One um pretty convincingly as well. We could be seeing the next uh great women’s golfer. You know, she could be taking that Lydia Co roll over you. She’s I think she won the the women the Augusta women’s am if I’m not mistaken. Um just a a baller of a player. So shout out to Lahi Wde. Uh we cover all all of golf here poorly, but we do we do talk about all of it. Oh, also shout out Walke Neman. He’s the goat. [ __ ] 45% win percentage on the live tour. Like talk about the Tiger Woods 2,000 Tiger Woods of the Live Tour. I saw somebody tweet. They were like, “Is this Tiger Woods level of golf?” And I’m like, “Yeah, there’s just a small caveat where this guy’s facing 47 other dudes and and 40 of 45 of them, you’ve never heard their names and the other 11 of them are just there for the paycheck.” Like, that was probably the shittiest thing I’ve ever said about Liv. He’s still beating good players, don’t get me wrong, but walking Neman, talk about a dude, there’s never been a bigger gap between him on this his little Liv tour and then him in a major. Like I it Yeah. And he fired his caddy and his coach the week before this, too, and then goes out and wins. Yeah. It’s It’s a very insane curious case of what the [ __ ] he is right now. Yeah. I mean, could he win? Like, should he just start playing left-handed on the live tour or it feels like he’s just playing that [ __ ] on easy mode? Um, so shout out both of them. You know, that also happened in golf. My mulligan of the week is we did not buy ourselves in the Kolkata. We missed out on four grand, which was kind of a bummer. But in hindsight, I still feel pretty vindicated about what, you know, with it being a full net event and us getting no strokes. I’m like, some guy is going to come from behind, get a million strokes, and beat the beat the pants off of us. So, it is kind of a bet on yourself thing. You should always bet on yourself. And also hindsight’s 2020, but uh I just regret, you know, not not throwing our names in the ring for that. And Spencer was a little distracted. So I did bid on her team a couple times, but uh the the guys give me the 500. Yeah. Uh but the the guys we at the very least we should have jacked up our team price because the two teams that we were sitting at the table with basically weren’t going to let us go. like they they should I’m shocked that either one of them let it like didn’t keep pushing it a little higher. But uh we were pretty low-key. At the end of the day though, it felt very good. Like the two dudes who bought us, they were just, you know, giving us the the full the full tug down. And I’m like, dude, did I not did we not do exactly what I said we were going to do? So, I felt pretty good about that because they kept calling us their employees. Um and I’m like, you know, do you give your employee a bonus when he makes you a bunch of money? and we did not see any of that cash. Um, I get it. It’s a little bit of capitalism, but uh, I just wish that we we would have bet on ourselves. That’s, you know, at the end of the day, we’re both gamblers. Like, what what excuse me, what better people to bet on than our own team? But then, you know, I it’s all a butterfly effect moment. Like, if we buy our own team, what happens? You know, so it’s just one of those hindsight’s 2020 for sure. 100%. Well, thank you all for tuning in to Big Drive Energy on this Monday.
