Rickie Fowler reflects on a gritty third round at the BMW Championship, where sharp scoring made up for a slightly off swing. He breaks down what was misfiring, what needs to click on Sunday, and how he’s embracing the challenge of being on the outside looking in for a TOUR Championship spot. Clear mindset, clean targets—can Fowler pull it off in the final round?
Ricky, how’d you characterize the day today? Uh, I didn’t swing as as well as I have been. Um, which didn’t mind. Did a good job of of scoring, getting around, did what I needed to do today. So, um, yeah, excited for tomorrow, know what we need to do and see if we can go get it done. Do you do you have a do you know what you what you feel like you need to do or do you is it just a general idea? Uh, general, I mean, within reason. Um, obviously I mean top five I know will lock it. Uh there’s few other factors, you know, outside of that depending on on finish from there, but you know, go put together a nice round tomorrow and we’ll be good. What’s your main focus tomorrow? Do you do you focus on that or you just go play? Um hopefully swing it a little better than today. Um it was nice to see some putts go in after yesterday. Um yeah, hopefully just go wear out some fairways and then get the iron play back to where it’s been and make some putts. But it sounds a lot easier. Um it is. Um but yeah, go play some simple golf. We’ll be all right. Is there one thing maybe with your swing that you kind of know was a little off today. Yeah, just getting a little quick. Uh just timing and um rushed it a little bit. So um yeah, kind of let it just get in a good position and I can, you know, when I do that, I can go as hard as I want from there. But um was just a little out of sync today. you come into this tournament, the position you were in, it’s kind of just taking it one day at a time, trying to sort of stay in contention for the top third each at the end of each day basically. Yeah, I mean, obviously been trying to score and play as best I can. Um, haven’t made a whole lot. Made a few today, which was nice, but um yeah, not in a not in a bad spot. We we obviously have a chance going into tomorrow. I’ in a way much rather be on the outside looking in. I know what I need to go do and um versus, you know, maybe being inside trying to protect type of thing. So, um go out and yeah, we’ll see if we can get things going and hopefully get off to a nice start and just play some good golf tomorrow. Yep.

Missed some putts, but he is playing well. Just great to watch him play! Step up, hit it, deal with it as it comes. Hell of a player!
