With his spot on LIV Golf 2026 on the line, Henrik Stenson delivered two strong rounds under pressure in Indianapolis. Starting the week ranked 48th—just one place above the drop zone—he opens up about the mental grind, the team’s struggles, and how he plans to fight for survival in the final round.

Okay, let’s welcome Henrik Sensson, co- captain of Majestics GC. Henrik, well played today. Seven under power round of 64. You’re 12 under par for the tournament, currently tied third. Can you take us through your round today? Yeah, I got off to off to a really good start. Uh started again today on on number three and um yeah made a good like 10 footer for birdie on three probably about 12 footer on on four and uh another 10 10 footer on six and hit two two good shots into seven and made birdie so got off to really quick start four under after about six holes um five six holes so yeah that kind of set up today only bogey came on eight um but managed to bird both nine and 10 to to get and get get it back quickly. So, um yeah, of course I’m pleased with with the the two days work uh coming in here being quite far down in the rankings. Needed uh need need a good tournament. So, uh yeah, two two down, one to go. As you say, the stakes couldn’t really be higher for you this week. You began uh you began the week at 48th in the standings, just one one shot above the drop zone. And as things stand, you’re projected to move to 39th place. With everything on the line this week, can you tell us how much pressure you felt and what would it mean for you to secure your place on live golf next year? Yeah, I mean I I’m obviously going to go out and try and play a play a solid solid round of golf tomorrow. Um I can only only try and do that. Um knew coming in here was going to be a lowscoring week. Um probably need to be in the 20s to win this golf tournament for sure. And uh yeah, if you want to if you want to have a good finish, you you got to make birdies. And that was the the main focus for these couple of days. Um, you know, obviously you got to tread carefully. You try and make burders, but you can’t can’t afford too many drop shots either. So, uh, yeah, sticking to the plan and, um, yeah, be it’ be nice to to finish with a strong round tomorrow and and kind of tighten things up. Over to you, Mike. Henrik, can you give us a sense of what it’s been like in the team room this week? I mean, we look at the projections and it’s like every hole that they change and somebody on your team’s in, somebody’s on your team out. Uh, obviously a lot of pressure on everybody. Can you just give us a sense of what it’s been like? Yeah, I think uh yeah, it’s been it’s been a bad season for us, no question. Uh, both as individuals and and as as a team. And u as you can tell, we’re we’re all kind of bunched up towards the the bottom of of the of the order of merit. So, um, yeah, every everyone’s obviously being a bit unhappy about that position and, uh, you know, as individuals, we’re in in in certain positions. And then as a team as well, uh, if we don’t move out of 12th, we’ll, uh, we’ll play, um, we’ll play, uh, on on Wednesday next week. So, we obviously got that to to try and try and sort out tomorrow with a strong finish as a team. And, um, yeah, it’ be it’d be a nice week to to finish off strong here. That’s the one thing that you guys probably could talk about collectively and right now you are projected to to move up is did you guys discuss that the the trying to avoid the playin game? No, I mean it is what it is. Um yeah, we we are there for a reason that we haven’t played well enough and there were there were some good signs early on in the season. We we got going after one or two rounds as a team, but we didn’t follow through and we we could have had chances to be a lot higher up, but uh yeah, better late than ever. So, I think everyone’s kind of in in the same uh same position mentally. We we fight hard and and we want to try and finish uh finish strong no matter what what happens on the individual side tomorrow. I think as a team we want to try and have a good week. And why for you per personally this week? Is it is it just because of the pressure? Is it because of the course? Obviously, you’ve won on a Pete die course before. I’ I’d say the the former. I think uh I mean historically I if I’m playing really well, yes, I’ve won tournaments and I’ve done well on on low scoring golf courses, but a lot of times that hasn’t really been been the number one um hunting ground for me. Um anywhere where where you get a little bit more awarded for for solid pars tend to I tend to thrive a little bit better in that environment than when when it’s a birdie fest. But um clearly I I got I got to try and make something happen. And so far we the first couple of days we managed to pull a couple of white rabbits out of the hat. So let let’s try and find a third one tomorrow, shall we? Thanks. Over to you, man. Uh Henrik, so you’ve played great in Ryder Cups. Um you know, alongside Justin Rose, one of the best Rder Cup pairings we’ve ever seen. You duled with with Phil to win an open, you know, now your back’s against the wall. Is there something about, you know, having your back against the wall and and being put in position where you have to succeed that brings the best out of your game? Potentially. Yes. Good answer. Thank you. Great. Do we have any more questions? All right. Thanks for keeping it brief.
